3/1(Thursday)
6:30 - Pikeville (W) vs. Pike County Central (L)
8:15 - Floyd Central (L) vs. Paintsville (W)

Semi-finals will be on 3/5 (Monday)
6:30PM: Belfry (L) vs. Johnson Central (W)
8:15PM: Pikeville (W)vs. Paintsville (L)

Finals will be on 3/6 (Tuesday) @ 7:00.

True but this is the first time I remember that 7 teams has a chance. Every game except for JC/Pburg should be good games.

Really tough draw for Floyd Central. Have to play Paintsville in the first round, then probably Pikeville in the semi's.

Johnson Central, on the other hand, has to be ecstatic with their draw.

Whoever drew prestonsburg was going to have the best draw regardless who was on the other side. Thatâs just how close everyone is this year. And that just happened to be Johnson central. Good luck Panthers hoping they have a few good ones left and Iâm hearing Cade Byers is gonna be back this week so that is great news for Pikeville if itâs true.

Yeah, the Mid South semi finals of both tournaments play Saturday, then the girls 15th Region Championship that night.

Last week the Expo Center's Facebook page had a schedule posted that had those games and the boys semi finals set for Saturday and then the championship Monday, but then when the draw was announced that had changed.

The winner of our region will be playing one of the following eight teams from region 5 on March 14th @ 8:00PM. In a little tournament we like to call the Sweet 16 @ Rupp arena.

Region 5 finals.

Bottom half of the bracket is brutal. But really the only thing that makes the top weaker is Pburg otherwise it is difficult as well. Each team besides maybe JC is going to have to put together 3 great games to win.

Thursday night is gonna be the best night of the tournament so far.

Pikeville (21-9) vs, Pike County Central (24-8)
12/22 - 74-70, Pikeville @ Prestonsburg.
2/8 - 54-52, Pike Central @ Pikeville.

Does the defending champs go down in the first round?
Does the school who's been in the Funny papers all across the state rally the troops and get the 'Dub?

Floyd Central (19-11) vs. Paintsville (19-9)
1/27 - 73-57, Paintsville @ Paintsville.

Does Floyd Central advance to the semi-finals in their first season of existence?
Does Paintsville advance to the semi-finals for the first time since 2008 when Landon Slone was a senior?

Eat big before you get there.
Get there early. Several people missed the majority of the 1st qtr. of the first game last night because they were in the ticket line.
Tonight will be well worth the price of admission.

I look for Pikeville and Floyd Central to advance tonight in very close games, maybe even an overtime or two for both.

Speaking of the Expo Center ticket line, I got there around 5:50 last night and approached the window. I wanted two tickets which was 14.00. I handed the cashier a 20 and he told me he couldn't break it. I had to get out of line and then wait until several others paid and he was able to break it. I can understand if I had a 50 or 100 or something, and perhaps the people that got there before me had done that, but you'd think at an event like that, they'd be prepared for that sort of thing.

Hopefully tonight and the rest of the tournament they will have at least two windows open. I look for tonight's crowd to be like the semi final type of crowds the 15th Region usually brings out.

Y’all DO realize the doors on Main Street Side (facing the bank) are open too, to buy tickets at, right? All I’ve seen is complaints about one window/two windows. I walked up, paid for my tickets and was in my seat 10 minutes before game started despite walking up to the door at 6:15 (15 minutes before start)

I posted this in the Girls Basketball forum. This is my opinion and doesn't reflect the thoughts or views of anybody lese.

The Expo center needs to GO!!!!!!!!

There is such a disconnected feeling. The majority of the fans say that the overall atmosphere is not what a high school regional tournament should be. Having a small army of "security" guards surround the winning teams pep section, not allowing players, cheerleaders, dancers & band members to bring in their own drinks, concession prices are ridiculous, not allotting advanced ticket sales to the schools.... the list can go on & on. The security at the entrances is a good idea, but we are coming to a ball game. We don't need to be treated like inmates going to the rec. yard. It's not the act of being searched a lot of people complain about, it's the attitude and demeanor of those doing the searching.
The actual Expo staff seem to be respectful, but the 15th region board/committee/tournament directors are the worst. Not letting the players shoot the balls until the 20 minute mark before their game start is ridiculous. Johnson Central's girls team came out on semi-final night before the 20 minute mark and started shooting. Several of the "directors" came out and made them stop shooting. They were told they could dribble, but they couldn't shoot. If this is an NFHS & KHSAA policy, then I will retract this statement. Almost every regular season or district tournament game you go to, you will see players out on the floor shooting before the 20 minute mark. If a team isn't out on the floor early to get up some extra shots, that's on them.
There are way too many wanna-be chiefs and no Indians. I've had more people address me as "Pulp Fiction" or "Pulp" this week than by my real name. I've been at every girls & boys game this year, the only night that would push the capacity of the largest gym in the region was the 2nd night of the boys opening round.

The 15th region Superintendents, Principals, Athletic Directors & coaches need to get together and boycott this place.

There are sixteen schools in the 15th region. IMO, eleven of the sixteen can host the regional tournament. Each district can take turn-about each year hosting the tournament. That would make the tournament on an eleven year rotation.
