I know that Celeb Bonny just won the 14th Region player of the year. But wanted to know what everyone thought on who is the 14th Region Best Player this season.

Not a kid in the region who puts in MORE work than Bonny. Yes, I know a lot of kids put in a lot of work, but this kid is in before school getting up shots, and after practice getting up shots. So there may be some out there who put in as much work, but none more than he. He is the best player in this Region.
And the last time they played Wolfe, he was guarding Stone on one end (effectively shutting him down) and put up big offensive numbers on the other end. Very complete player.

In the last game you talk about they both scored 13 points.
Stone done it on 7 shots
Bonny done it on 9 shots
Wolfe played a 2-3 zone the whole game
Estill played a triangle and 2 the whole game. Chasing Stone and King
1st game of the season Stone had 24 and Bonny had 21.
Last season in 2 games head to head
Stone had 30 and 20
Bonny had 21 and 13

I personally like the Caudill kid from Knott..he is a very impressive player..he can do it all..Knott will definitely miss that kid next year...and he seems to have a great attitude, always smiling

I have seen all 3 plays multiple times this year and in past years, and I think Stone and Caudill are overall the best players in the region; they both score well and rebound for their teams - Bonny is a tremendous player as well but I think Stone and Caudill do more overall for their teams ---I think these 3 players are clearly the best of the 14th region this year.

Warning...
Hot take incoming...
I think if Bonny or Stone played for Perry Central, Cordia or Knott they would be role players.

Bonny is not the best player, he takes more shots than any player you can name and flops to get to the free throw line.

Of the players mentioned, I think McDonald is the most talented.
02-28-2018, 06:46 AM
Zaga Fan, how about this, both of those guys have put up great numbers playing just as hard of a schedule as PCC, KCC, & Cordia and get more attention from the other teams so please explain how they would be just role players. People in the southern end of the region refuse to give anyone from the 55th and 56th district any respect. Caudill and McDonald are both good players no doubt but to say that Bonny and stone arenât as good as anyone in the region is just stupid.

I'm glad these guys can come from New York to the big cities in Eastern Kentucky so they can get some attention.

It's funny to think that Bonny isnt the best player. Then why did he get the player of the year? Why did coaches across the region vote him pre-season #1 player in the region?
As for the flop post. That's funny. You must not have watched any Estill games this season. He drives to the basket and gets fouled. Kinda hard not to call something when a defender comes down across his body or runs into him when he's going up in the lane. Most players do that. Never hear any complaints when another teams players do the same thing.
Most 14th region fans on BGR are from the Hazard area and all we hear or see on here is about Perry, Hazard, Cordia and Knott. The only time the 55th or 56th District teams get any recognition is from the fans of those two districts and they aren't many of those.

Caudill was No. 1 in the Cats Pause coaches poll. Bonny was second.

Lol you are ridiculous. So you're telling me that a kid who averaged nearly 20 a game and just wont Region player of the year would be a role player on other teams inside THAT VERY REGION? Please explain your logic. I'll be waiting  Or is it because he is from ESTILL? Because the 14th seems to be butt hurt over the last 12 years because Estill has been added to the region. Which makes no sense to me.
02-28-2018, 03:53 PM
Nobody in the 14th is butt hurt over Estill because they havenât won anything to piss anyone off.

Noah Back gets chased every single game and still averages 17 pts a game. His team wins more than any of the other best players mentioned. I'd say Back and Caudill are the best. I dont care if you get up and shoot 1000 shots before the sun rises still dont mean your the best. How many hours do some of them spend in the weight room? Shooting and doing dribbling drills is easy. Winning separates the best of the best. Might want to add Chandler Caudill to that list as well. I still think Backs the most dangerous player on the list. He dont miss when left open. Always a threat.
02-28-2018, 05:39 PM
I think Austin Bennett should be on this list somewhere. He probably averages the same points as these guys and about 10 rebounds per game. I think most players in this group all get the opposing teamâs best defender and typically get face guarded all game. That happens when youâre the best player on a team.

I had him in the preseason top 5. Really good player for Coach Hoskins and Buckhorn.

Shizzle nizzle baby, ole fatpat will take bgr jeopardy for 100 Alex..... Who is Sir Isaac? Yes that is right fatpat..... wowza!!! Caudill is the best player in the 14th hands down. Now, don't get ole fatpat wrong, these other bois can hoop it up but the Pats have the best record in the 14th and have played some difficult teams this year. Sir Isaac is the leader of this entourage and his stats speak for themselves. Like ole fatpat hittin the buffet, you know it will be done right, Shaba.
#sirisaacisthekingaroundhere More mash taters please!!!

Sorry, guys.
I really hate it when my opinion gets people tore up (not really).
Stone and Bonny light it up for their respective teams, but it's different to do it for a team like Perry.
Here's an example.
You have an interesting situation with Cam Turner at Perry since he's played for two schools this year.
Jackson City plays Leslie County early in the season and Turner has 19 points.
Perry plays Leslie last week and Turner has 2 points.
He was a stud at Jackson City and now he's a role player at Perry.
You put Noah Back on any team in the 14th and he's just as productive. Put him on Wolfe County and he'll drop 30 regularly.
He scores 17.5/game with kids who are capable of putting in 20 a game on any given night.

And Bonny was VOTED player of the year. Doesn't mean he's the best.
Damon Tobler was the best player in region last year but didn't win the popularity contest.

Oh, you're right. I am so sorry, I forgot that this years Perry team is SOOOO dominant :hilarious:
Hate to break it to ya Zaga, there is no dominant team in this region. Bonny would be a stud on any team inside this region.

Didn't say they were dominant. You're putting words in my mouth.
I'm saying Bonny is the best player for Estill and I don't think he would be as successful at Perry.
Evidently that's touched a nerve.

Back more than any other kid on this list needs to have good players around him.
Last year he got to play with 2 6-7 kids and Tobler who was the best in the region at getting in the lane and kicking out to shooters.
This year he has several good players around him. And all he has to do is take open catch and shoot jumpers. Which is he very good at.
But he cant get his own shot. If he was at Estill or at Wolfe he is not standing in the corner and taking wide open catch and shoot jumpers. because there is nobody on either of those teams to drive and kick it to him. Or no Caudill in the post to throw it out to him when they get doubled. He would have to go get his own shot.
And somehow Back Fg% is worse than Bonny or Stone even tho he takes wide open jumpers and they have to go find a shot with people hanging all over them.
And Back is also the worst defender of Perry County Starting 5 and their worst rebounder. But im sure his 2.7 RPG are due to him not having to rebound.
Bonny has to guard the other team best player every game and still go get his points.
Stone has to get 8-10 rebounds for Wolfe every game and still go get his points.
Back is put on the other teams worst player and never has to go rebound and go make open jumpers.

it's funny watching all of you argue which New Yorker is the best player in Eastern Kentucky
nicker: . Get some pride and play only hometown boys.
