Salary and retirement in WV are worse than here believe it or not. Teachers up there are about to go on strike.

Could be a ploy to get higher salary by him

Best of luck to him, I hope he does great at Perry Central, but honestly he never did anything fantastic out in Ona.

They say Bert Browne was spotted having a snack with former Whitley Co. Coach Jim Black. Click on the link below for a picture of proof...

Are the Bert Browne is back in town shirts printed up yet?

PCC would be very lucky to get Jim Black. I think he is one of the most underrated coaches in the mountains.

Doesn't sit too well with me. I know several parents here that would be outraged too.

Nobody else see's the irony in this post. Come on ???

Doesnt he have more wins at Perry than anyone? Seen that on a post about a year ago.

I remember him telling everyone that he may not win much but he guaranteed a victory over Hazard. Needless to say, Hazard beat him. LOL. But the guy is a great coach. Got a lot of respect for him. Just couldnt get the defense he needed to win big games. Kind of hard with 25 players.

WV treats their teachers much better than KY does in my opinion. Having taught in both states you can take my words however you like. The union is very strong in WV. The pay is at or more than in KY as well.

I'm not really dealing in opinion. West Virginia did 15 years ago what Bevin wants to do here in Kentucky. They are tired of it. https://www.wvgazettemail.com/news/educa...a1260.html

According to public documents a teacher with a masters and 10 years in Cabell county makes $220.75 per day. A teacher in Perry county with the same qualifications makes $273.65 per day.
Rocket Science!

Take it for what it's worth. I went from Kanawha county to central KY and took a pay cut. Should be noted that WV does not require teachers to get a masters degree.
Perry Year 1. $191.
Cabell Year 1. $175.
So comparing those two. Perry pays more.
Thanks for the rocket science analysis.
