Raceland 2018
#1
Thoughts and predictions?
#2
Imo, Raceland will be better offensively in 2018. Much more diverse. They lose Webb and some guys upfront, but will return a crop of tallent in the backfield, with J. Adkins, Lacks, and one of the best atheletes in the area in D. Adkins. They return several big OL and several juniors to be, will be very effective defensively upfront as well. This OL will likely be more atheletic than last years, but still have plenty of size. On defense I expect us to be a little quicker upfront, but not quite as stout with losing Fairchild (DT/NT) and Whitmoyer(MLB)in the middle amd losing Furgeson off the edge wont be an easy hole to fill either. But we return a secondary that was solid against both the run and the pass.

That being said, I expect a better regular season record in 2018, but dont know about how deep of a playoff run will go. I do feel confident that we will win the district again and be playing in a regional championship game, but Pikeville was legit last year and they were young as can be. They lose one senior off of a team that was a last second field goal away from playing at Kroger Field. But hell, I didnt think the 2017 team woyld make it past the 2nd round last year. I just know im already ready for some Friday Night Lights.

I don't either. I see them losing 6.

I hate use the t word, but how many are they bringing in. It they can bring a solid class of t's, they may only lose 5.

From my understanding of studying this Raceland team for next year is that offense will not be the problem. They may possibly have the best back field in 1A! I hope they use them and PUT that power I-form with those backs. Question is Quarterback but I myself look for Dalton Adkins to take over and that way you have the ball in at least 1 of the 3 best players on offense.

Defense is where I myself think the questions lie and looking from going off there roster from the title game. Looking at that the only return 4 starters. But they do have a couple kids listed that filled in as well. Secondary should be the strong point. How there front develops will depend how far and how they do in 2018.

I don't believe Raceland utilized the roster to its full potential. There were several more than capable underclassmen who could have provided more depth last year and this gave the Rams more experience coming in to this year. I've had this gripe for several years, as far back as Maynard.

In looking at the scheduled flipped for 2018, I do see them at 5-5 or 6-4 but that is with a district title. I also see them winning the region but the rematch with Pikeville in Pikeville on Thanksgiving will be the end.

Wins- West Carter, Valley, Fairview, Paintsville, Russell.
Losses - Lawrence Co, Ashland, Portsmouth West, Somerset.
Toss up - Greenup Co (Some will not believe so but it will be a close game)

I will be suprised if Dalton is at QB. We havent played a QB at a defensive position since Boyles was under center. Dalton is too valuable at Safety to not be on that side of the ball. Havent heard much in the way of transfers though.
#11
I kind of expect an underclassmen (soph or jr) to be undercenter this year.
#12
I heard they picked up an Ironton transfer for QB.

Wins East Carter, Valley, Fairview, Russell, Lawrence.
Losses Ashland, Portsmouth West, Somerset.
Toss up Greenup and Paintsville.

Paintsville will beat Lawrence so I think Raceland will beat Lawrence

Paintsville returns 9 on D plus they just picked up a kid that will help on D. Return 3 O lineman Line Could average 300 lbs (and can move)
Most all their WRs will be back, QB back
#1 should be healthy this year to see time at RB.
#14
QB will be a sophomore unless a transfer comes in then they both compete for the job , dalton will probably run some wildcat at QB like last year but i don’t see him at QB.. offense will be much improved over last year with QB being a upgrade , really good backfield and some nice receivers returning , the online should be much improved as well with last year starting 2 sophomore and 2 jrs which will be jr snd seniors with experience. DB’s will be really good , they will be young at linebacker and maybe D-Line depends on who he moves there .. Rams will be 8-2 or 7-3, district and region champs and with a little luck back to Kroger Field . Just like i said last year you have to be good and have some luck to make it to Lexington .

Friday Night Wrote:I heard they picked up an Ironton transfer for QB.

There was one. He was in the Raceland JFL for a few years, but bounced around a bit due to parents jobs, etc. A great kid and I know his former team mates would love to have him back in the right orange and black lol. But from what I hear he wont be coming back. Either way, he will have to compete with two QBs who would both be an upgrade in terms of accuracy and as a decision maker, but wont have the Friday night experience as a starter, one will be a sophomore and the other a Jr. But there are two really nice WRs to throw to in D. Adkins and Gunner. There are no ringer transfers. We will be 6-4 at worst, with or with out any new kids coming in.

Don’t forget about Boyd co transfer last year that will be eligible week 4 , who plays WR and corner who is faster than gunnur
#17
Transfer issue Isn’t dead but just hanging on by a thread

That the big 6'4" 225 kid nut?

I remember how hard Raceland fans use to cry about Fairview and now they’re of the “if you build it they will come” mindset.

I love the Raceland program I just think that’s funny.

No , he’s about gunnurs size

They don't play East

I was just fuelin the fire of bs lol. I know who u r talking about though. We will be better against the pass this year defensively, i just hope these big uglies hit the weightroom hard. Our DL is really the only question mark imo. Who do you expect to take over at center?
#24
There is a 6”4 235 QB at Boyd co

Looking for a much more balanced, diverse and effecient offense out of the Rams this year. In each regular season loss last season, the defense did more than enough to create opportunities to win those games. But the offense sputtered. I dont think that will be the case in 2018. I do expect the defense to take a few weeks to really start to gel, but I think we will put enough points up this year to counter that.

Will Raceland be hosting a 7 on 7 this season in July?
#27
Not sure. Lots of things going on with the building of the new Jr High School, new track, etc...Havent heard anything defenitive yet though.

Hell at this point I’m starting to worry if the Rams will have a field to play on! Lots still have to be done with no practice field,JFL or Varsity field any where close to being completed! I hope they have a back up plan
