Great game but North was hosed pretty bad on the 3 after putting over a second on the clock. Also on the 4 point play. Any decent ref can't fall for a flop on a 3 point attempt like that.

Great Coaches do more with less, Bears coming into there on. Congratulations Bears.

It was a great game all the way around. But the calls was a little out in the right field in the last part of the 4th quarter..but we all can't get the calls we want at the important time of the game

I don't think Creech even fell on the four-point play. He landed on the defender, if I remember.

Definitely not remembering right, because the defender never fell. He just flew by him with his hand up and whoever the shooter was done the Duke "kick your legs out and fall like you got hit" trick. Not saying it wasn't a good idea and sell by the shooter, just saying it was pretty obvious. Congrats to Harlan for battling their butts off.

I know the defender didn't fall but I thought Creech came down on him as he ran past. I could have sworn Creech didn't fall. I was a little surprised by the call after he hit a tough shot, but there were calls that went both ways.

I think both these teams are quite a bit better than anyone expected they would be this year.

Congrats to HC! Really good game and atmosphere. Both teams battled hard possession after possession. By no means am I trying to take anything away from HC but North Laurel got hosed in this one. It was bad from the start.

U guys crack me up. Yes HCS thatâs what I saw as well.

Congrats to Bears.

Just talked to several other people who said Creech did not fall. I'd be interested in what VanHagar saw - never known him not to tell it like it is in many discussions through the years.
I'm not saying one play changed the game or that either team couldn't win if they played again. I was impressed with how hard both teams played and how much they have improved this early in the season.

Appreciate that HCS, and I really wish I could give my two cents, but I HAD TO MISS GAME! HOLIDAYS! FAMILIES! They get in the way of a little Christmas basketball sometimes!😂😂 But anyway if you say he didnât fall I absolutely believe that. With a four-point lead donât be so close to the three-point shooter that any contact is possible anyway. I would be interested in knowing more about what happened at end of third with time being put on clock, was told by a buddy who was there that Brad was furious over that situation. On Thursday night, when I GOT TO GO😂😂, there were a couple of clock issues in both games.

And again regardless these are two pretty doggone good teams that at the very least will have a say so in who wins this region. A region final four that includes some combination of these two, South, Corbin or Knox Central would potentially be fantastic.

52nd District Tournament will be as tight as bark on a tree this year.
As SUR would say; marked it down!!!!

As tight as my first boss Granny Bear? He squeaked when he walked as my dad used to say.😁 I would think several districts will have some interesting elimination games. Whoever winds up the 2 vs. 3 game between North, Clay and Jackson in the 49th. Maybe the 2 vs. 3 game in the 50th if itâs South vs. Whitley. Probably the 2 vs. 3 game in the 51st if itâs Lynn Camp vs. Barbourville. And Bell vs. Middlesboro if thatâs the way it plays out would be verrry interesting in the 52nd.

And then there's the region! :o
I hope I can make it to these games!!

From looking at scores, I didn't think Harlan, Bell County or Middlesboro were very good this year. I think it is Harlan County's to lose.

None of the one seeds in any of the four districts should have any trouble. But the 2-3 games should be tight for the most part.

The clock operator ran the clock out at the end of the qtr while there was a loose ball skirmish taking place around midcourt. When the horn sounded both teams headed to the bench. What was not heard or seen was a foul called in the skirmish or if it was heard both coaches assumed the qtr ran out. As the coaches were getting ready to talk to their teams between qtrs, the referees decided to put 1.2 secs on the clock and the clock operator was just doing what the referee told him to do. Brad went nuts on the clock operator even though he had no say in putting the time back on the clock. For as long as I've been around high school basketball I've never seen a clock operator decide to put time back on a clock, I'm fairly certain that is the referees decision and always has been.
12-31-2017, 05:31 PM
No youâre right if thatâs the way it was, and Iâm sure it must have been, then that is strictly a decision by refs. Just a tough break for North because of the made three, but sounds like nothing more than that.

I should have included ky playmaker in that earlier question, but since he liked my response I think that means he saw it like I did.
As far as the call at the end of the third quarter, I had already closed out my stats for that quarter and written down the score. It looks like they were having trouble getting the clock reset. That was a very unusual - no argument from me on that.
I think it's a fantasy that Creech flopped on the four-point play though.
