California Wildfires Forces The Evacuation Of Thousands
#1
Los Angeles (CNN)Pushed by powerful Santa Ana winds, a Southern California fire spread with explosive speed to 26,000 acres on Monday night, forcing thousands to evacuate in the dark.

One person died in a rollover car crash while trying to evacuate from the fire, said Mark Lorenzen, Ventura County Fire chief in a press briefing Monday night.
About 7,786 homes in Ventura and Santa Paula are under mandatory

evacuation as fire officials warned that the powerful winds could turn the flames toward the city of Ventura. The fire is rapidly spreading with 0% containment.
"The fire is still out of control and structures are threatened throughout the fire area," according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. "Due to the intensity of the fire, crews are having trouble making access, but there are multiple reports of structures on fire."

At least two structures have been lost, Lorenzen said.

Once again wildfires are out of control in California. Between the fires and earthquakes, I'm not sure I could stand to live in California.

And the fires continue. I have family in Ventura and Oxnard who have been under the gun.

A friends brother was literally surrounded by fire to the north and south in Ojai and they were able to save their property. His wifes ranch was protected by a fire crew which were able to stop the fire 400' from its boundary.

The only redeeming quality about the fires is that it will take anywhere from 3-5 years for the area to grow enough fuel for the area to re-ignite. So the burnt areas should be safe for another 3 years.

The downside will be that when it does rain they will have to deal with mud slides.

Between the traffic, earthquakes, and fires I think anyone living out there is nuts to begin with!!! Confusednicker:Confusednicker:
