You can't tell in full motion except that the Mayfield player had the ball...interception or incomplete.
What about the 2 pt conversion? Looked in...

Picture doesn't show him coming down with the ball, doesn't matter, Danville got the call and the win, and for your info, we ain't crying in our beer, and as far as arrogant fans, you top the cake.

There's more than one video floating around. I've seen one that looks like interception and one that looks like incompletion as neither have control when they go out of bounds. Maybe there's another that shows td, but I haven't seen it. My beef is the ref further away overrules the ref standing right on top of the play. I'm not sure why that's his call.
On a more important note, it used to be illegal to cut block from the shotgun. Has this changed? Cut blocking from the gun is a game changer in terms of getting folks to the edge. When did this become legal?

This one is tough. Looking at still shots of the play makes it difficult to call. This one looks like a pick for Mayfield. Initially I thought it should have been an incomplete pass but it was a bang bang play. Even seeing it on film and several stills of it i can't say definitively one way or the other.

Most are cool but at least a couple of you are on crying drunks. You are wrong. You call me arrogant because I call you out on your BS and dont worship your team. Mayfield is a great program, but some are so arrogant to pretend that it is impossible to beat them and it is is very enjoyable to watch those arrogant birds get their heads out of the clouds and float back down to earth  . .... Danville was the best team and should be congratulated instead of whining about one play for days.

I didn't even study films and said all season long that Danville would win the championship nicker:

I call you out on your BS sir. Fans questioning a call is not CRYING for starters, the call was at minimum questionable and I would venture that there are more people on this site and on another site that believe it was a bad call than a good call. I don't believe any Mayfield fan has said that it was THE REASON Mayfield lost.
Second of all, you call some of Mayfield fans CRYING DRUNKS, how do you know they are drinkers much less drunks, very presumptuous on your part.
Thirdly, you say ( I call you out on your BS because I don't worship your team) well, THANK GOD , you are not a Mayfield fan because it's guys like you that make other fans hate another team, or at least despise their fans, it's obvious you can't stand Mayfield, and that's fine, all great programs have haters.
Fourthly, you say ( some are so arrogant to pretend it's impossible to beat them(mayfield), while there was a couple fans confident mayfield would win, I only remember 1 person guranteing a Mayfield blowout and I HIGHLY doubt he is even a Mayfield fan, more than likely just someone who loves to stir the pot, as you do.
Fithly, you say ( it is very enjoyable to watch those arrogant birds get their heads out of the clouds and float back to earth) if you want to call TRUE mayfield fans arrogant and believe they have their heads in the clouds because they are a proud fan base, have confidence in their team that has the record and history to back that attitude, by all means knock yourself out, enjoy yourself, as you obviously do ( enjoy YOURSELF)
Lastly, you say ( Danville was the best team and should be congratulated instead of crying for days about 1call) well, it's only been 1 day so your wrong AGAIN on that point, and I believe every Mayfield fan on this site and the other site has congratulated Danville and the vast majority have stated Danville was the best team, so, AGAIN you are wrong! You are a hater, and you love to sew discourse instead of having logical, intellectual debate, and that's your prerogative, it can keep threads going. You need to learn to win with dignity, so I CALL YOU OUT ON YOUR BS!

I am one of these so called crazy head in the clouds Cardinal fans that PJ is talking about.
First of all Congrats Danville no doubt you guys played an awesome game. I feel with the game you guys played and mistakes we made we did not deserve to even be close. I stated in one of my post that I had saw the vancleave kid on video and if we didn't contain him this is what the outcome would be. But let me ask the Danville Fans that were there with 5.34 left in the game and us down by 21 were you 100% sure the game was in hand? As far as the calls go of course I didnt like the touchdown call if that goes the other way mayfield has the ball on the 20 and had a chance to go to half time 14-8 or leading. As to MR PJ's (typical liberal pot stirrer) comments to have a good football program you not only have to have good players but have players, coaches and fans that think you have a best team. That is the way it has been since I went to school at Mayfield private school LOL. After saying this I will continue to yell at the top of my lungs for the best team in ky Mayfield Cardinals.

Couldn't sleep so went back and took another look at it. Sorry so long winded, but it was a state game after all. Here are some thoughts from a MF perspective:
1. The execution on offense just wasn't there in the 1st half. Stupid penalties, poor execution up front, dropped passes, missed throws, etc. Whether it was nerves or whatever idk, but things just weren't clicking.
2. Ordinarily I'm in the 'run it to set up the pass' camp. This game was an exception to that. Mayfield didn't throw it well enough early to open up the run. I said before the game that Danville would stack the box and play man to man and that's what they did most of the afternoon. They walked a linebacker down, put a safety in the box, and covered MF's four with four. MF was playing 5 on 7 up front and that math just didn't work. Jordan's touchdown was man with no safety help. Jack's near touchdown was the same thing. Those safety's weren't there because they were in the box helping with the run. If MF could have hit a few more of those and forced Danville to adjust away from loading the box, the run would have looked much better.
3. The double reverse was a back-breaker. After the safety and Jordan's score, MF looked poised to take control and then BOOM. 60 something yards and all momentum lost. They run that thing every game. Not sure why MF looked so unprepared for it.
4. MF is not used to seeing their equal at the skilled positions, but they did so yesterday. One example, look at the cushions MF's dbs gave vs the cushions MF's receivers got. Any time Danville wanted 6 yrds on first down or needed 7 yrds on 3rd they simply played pitch and catch on that easy stop route on the outside. We tried it and were lucky to not have it intercepted.
5. Said it before but Dan's QB was a difference maker. Dude looked like Warren Moon back there.
6. Danville does a great job of getting their athletes in space and letting them do their thing. MF just couldn't keep them bottled up. That many athletes and that much speed will eventually get loose.
7. MF has a great team and actually matched up better than it looked. Play a cleaner game with fewer penalties, hit a few plays we missed, and tackle better and this thing could have been real interesting.
In the end, Danville did a better job of doing what they do. They have a great team, they executed better, and they found big plays when they needed them.
Still proud of my Cards. They fought hard and gave good effort, it just wasn't meant to be. Great season, great kids, and great memories. Can't ask for more than that.

And what's wrong with a few crying drunks?
12-03-2017, 03:32 PM
All the credit is going to the stud Van Cleave (I could be butchering that) and I'm not taking anything away from him, but whoever the QB for them is played excellent and gutsy. Leaving the game early with an injury he refused to quit and made some very big plays that helped lead to the win. Van Cleave can have player of the game, but the QB was the reason for the win.

That play would not have occurred as it did without two outstanding athletes being involved. Thankfully, it was not the final play of a tied up game.

Their talent pool gets more and more shallow for the next couple/few years.
The last 5 meetings (4 years) of middle school between Boyle and Danville have been dreadful for the Ads. Combined score like 220-20. Now Boyle has a lot of talent coming thru but Danville is unquestionably going to take a slide. They have some nice players here and there but this level of play will be a long time coming again imo.
Look for Somerset to take over the District.

That td gives Danville the breathing room they need. Mayfield staying 1 score behind keeps them from kicking an onside kick with 4 or 5 minutes to go and giving Danville a short field.
Danville made the plays, Mayfield didn't.

Going to be a tuff challenge for Mayfiled replacing 4 out 5 starting offensive lineman.

The best team in Kentucky is about to take the field...The 2nd best team finished up as 5A state champ. The 3rd best team beat you guys. The 4th best team won 3A. And the 5th best team won 1A. Mayfield, Corbin, St X, Franklin Simpson, and maybe even Etown and Louisville Central can fight it out for 6th best team. Not too shabby even as 6th best.
The statement seems to say that Mayfield lost because of mistakes they made. I saw a game where the better team, Danville, made way more mistakes than they usually do. I saw their QB injured for an entire series in which Danville had been rolling like a freight train gaining steam, until the QB went down. That derailed the onslaught for a moment and allowed Mayfield to get back in the game a bit. I did think the one TD was either an INT for Mayfield, or incomplete. But Danville made several false starts (as did Mayfield), and Danville missed some blocks they normally get. Is that due to Mayfield's defensive line and backers...probably. As was most of the mistakes Mayfield made due to Danville's defense. I still say Danville played a little worse than they had been, as compared to Mayfield.
In the end, my eyes age and experience in this game see Danville as at LEAST a 2 TD better team than Mayfiield, probably 3 TDs, each and every time they would play. I think Danville is just what they were against Boyle, BARELY better, I mean that field goal that won it for Danville, that is highly indicative of how those 2 teams are. Maybe one would beat the other on a given day. Danville would beat Beechwood, and Raceland. The only teams I see that Boyle and Danville wouldn't win against, is 5A champ, and then the 2 teams playing for 6A. 2A and 3A were incredible this year. 3A being the deepest class in football, IMO.

RoShambo,
I thought the same thing but once at first but once the Danville receiver possess the ball and has one foot down it is a touchdown and nothing you see after that point can change that. Iâm not sure that is what the official was thinking or not but I have seen a couple other stills that is prior to the photo you posted that clearly shows the kid controlling the ball with his foot down.

How do you say one official overruled the other one? It looks like to me that no Call was being made and the near official was looking to the other official for help.

While you make alot of valid points. The better team won that day. But adjustments could be made and who knows on another day. I think Mayfield could play a lot better and maybe Danville could too. But reality is you get one chance and Danville did a good job and Mayfield has good players for the future so more State Title opportunities await.

Mayfield will always be a contender. But Danville was the better team all year. 15-0 speaks for itself.
