Can Paintsville match up with Beechwood?
#1
For most of the year, the popular opinion has been that Beechwood is a prohibitive favorite to win a 2nd consecutive 1a championship, but, in just looking at scores, Paintsville appears to me to be pretty formidable themselves.. For those of you more familiar than myself with this Paintsville team, what are your thoughts? Are they capable of toppling the mighty Beechies or would you consider them a longshot, should they meet?
#2
Paintsville has some studs but they all go both ways. Their depth isn't all that great. If the have a very good game plan and execute it, I'll say they have a shot.
#3
They have to get their first.. which they very well may do. Hazard or Pikeville rematch will be tough.
#4
Short answer.... No.
#5
NO
#6
Paintsville is good, but not Beechwood good! IMO.
#7
Paintsville has a shot if they get there which they probably will. They have to get a lot o breaks and clean up on those stupid penalties they get. Plus they will be away from Paintsville after all their playoff games are home but they can win but it’s going to take them playing an exceptional game no mistakes.

This thread is way too premature. I think Raceland, Hazard, and Pikeville might have something to say about it. Anything can happen in these next 4 weeks, hell Beechwood might not even make it.

Didn't you know that the KHSAA decided that the other 4 rounds wouldn't be nessesary this year and the championship will be between Beechwood and Paintsville next week?:eyeroll:

I can assure you that the Tigers, nor the coaches, are not overlooking anyone, especially Raceland. Raceland has to get the ball into the hands of their playmakers, its that simple. Pikeville will much improved with Battaile back, and Hazard keeps getting the job done without the Smith boys. We are not a lock to play at Commonwealth. Idk why people start foolish threads like this.

Raceland needs to figure out some more creative ways to get the ball in the hands of Webb amd Dalton Adkins. It's obviously not goina happen in the passing game. We have speed and athleticism in our WR corps that most teams would kill for. But we still run lead and zone over and over again. Idk, I'm at a loss. We should have beaten Russell by 4 TDs, should have beaten Somerset, and Portsmouth West, offense is just stagnant. Maybe this win over Russell will spring board us a little. But from where I sit, if we utilize the passing game a bit more or Pikeville gets some things going with Batallie, this threads topic is a bit premature. I think defensively, Paintsville, Raceland, and Hazard all have enough to match up with Beechwood's offense. I just don't know if the depth is there for 4 quarters and Beechwood is more diverse and polished offensively.

Beechwood and Paintsville are huge favorites to get there. Paintsville's path is much tougher. Beechwood is better but Paintsville is not far behind and they will make Beechwood earn it. Paintsville has the athletes and coaching needed to lift the big trophy.Beechwood is very good but not like one of the Mayfield teams that kept them locked out of the finals for a long time period.

First and foremost this thread is way to soon. Beechwood is a great team, they have demonstrated that more than once this season. However...... I think there are two teams in class A than can beat them. Their depth and experience at the big dance are huge considerations, but they are not a unicorn. If Paintsville could eliminate penalties, defend the pass well, and build momentum then yes, they could absolutely beat Beechwood.

You guys....just enjoy the next four or five weeks of football! Football season is short as it is and we wanna talk about the end? If I’m not mistaken you guys from Paintsville did this last year and Hazord had to set you straight!! Just enjoy the ride!

No, we all didn't. Just like last year and the year before though, I will say that we have a shot. YOU guys from Raceland (not all, but some) on the other hand did guarantee you would beat us in the playoffs, but the Tigers had to set y'all straight, again...

I agree with 2 comments, first this one ^^^ and the comment about this being way too early! Crazy things do seem to happen in Playoffs. Just like Paintsville, Beechwood has to make it to Kroger field before they can play at Kroger field! BW does seem to have a bit of a better shot with their side of the bracket however it's no guarantee. A lot of football left between now and then!!

That actually would be inaccurate Ramdad. 2 years ago in 2015 one of our fans posted about us being undefeated through to a state title which was the Kash, Trimble, Lemaster team. After experiencing 2015 that talk never raised its head again.

Damn I just keep getting older and more forgetful!!! Hahahah

No no no. That wasn't one of OUR fans. That was one of the die hards from across the creek (moderator on here now) who started that ridiculous thread about us going undefeated and winning a title, as billboard material for all the other teams.

Paintsville will have to go to Paris, if they beat Raceland in the 2nd round. then Pikeville or Hazard again. as the past year show, it is very hard to beat the same team 2 times in the same season.

That's right Redneck. I remember now. Maybe both Ramdad and I both could use some Ginko Biloba!

I do look for Hazard to be a very difficult team to get by again. They are a very strong team!

B-wood is four touchdowns better

I didn’t read any posts. It’s a NO

Raceland will be playing at Paris in the second round if they beat Bishop Brossart. Paintsville will have the winner of Fairview/Bracken County in round 2. But like i said earlier, this thread is ridiculous and way too premature. There are no guarantees.
#27
Raceland has a weak offense but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Raceland beats Paintsville if they meet again , special team mistakes and the worse officiating I’ve seen and Paintsville wins by 14 .
#28
Paintsville needs to focus on getting past the Semi-Finals first
#29
Ill bet Beechwood isn't bitching about being in the west anymore. Now that Mayfield is gone they play absolutely nobody until the finals.

NO!
