What about the 13th Region

Go Kasa at #1 ..great to see Julia getting some recognition also. Figured that Miranda would have found her way on the list.. especially after the year she had last year.

Not even close....

It amazes me at what people consider a top 10 player list. No 1 rule....Can they defend their position?
No 2- do they rebound and do the dirty work?
No 3-Do they make people on their team better?
No 4-Can they score without having their shot created by someone else?
No 5-Can they carry their team when defense gets tough?
I'm so tired of these 1 dimensional players getting ink! So many of these kids feel like they are D1 players either because of some lofty social media posts by a " recruiting service" or their parents touting them or a local news paper only checking the box score to see how many points a kid scores. How does this so called " top 10" player impact a game when the game gets tough. Do they score against great defense or do they have padded stats against the cupcakes? C'mon.....dig deep and really come up with a top 10 that works! I know 1 thing....I'm a Boyd fan and a basketball junkie- but in no way do I think we have 4 top 10 girls! And that's not meant to be a slam on any
Kid on here.....you have to earn your way to a top 10!

Players who score the most points have been getting the ink since basketball started.
It would be more informative if you'd put your list out there or tell us who was left out or who doesn't belong.

I realize top 10's are very debatable. Everyone has an opinion and everyone has a bias to their own team. I'll put out a top 10 that is open for discussion but in no way is this to disrespect any kid on here. I've seen the work some of these kids put in and have the privilege of catching some scrimmages over the summer. Enjoy the list-debate it all you want-but please don't be negative toward any kid.
No 1- MyKasa Robinson
No.1A- Savannah Wheeler
And this could go either way- both fun to watch and extremely valuable to their teams. Has nothing to do with college ability and everything to do with being a HS player. Love watching these 2 play and compete!
No. 2- Madison Darnell
No.3- Abby Pick
No. 4- Emma Hacker
No.5- Charity Shears
No.6- Allie Stone
No. 7- Ty Mitchell
No.8-Payton Shears
No.9-Julia Parker
No. 10- Gracie Haywood
There are a number of girls that are worthy and this list will change as the season progresses. The work don't lie. Morgan Berry-Baer-Burchett from WC. Runyon from Raceland and Rakes from Fairview-Martin and Fulton from Blazer-Paynter from Boyd-Evans and Walker from Menifee-Gracie Yates from Lewis Co-Miller and Jackson from Greenup-Hall and Gallion from East Carter. All these girls bring different strengths to the floor and time will tell. Some girls benefit from playing in a system that allows them to shoot freely and others have to play in a possession by possession system. Also kids like Charity Shears could be a 15 to 20 point a night kid if need be. Mitchell from Russell is a shut down defender that I feel will have a break out Sr. season. Good Luck Ladies to a successful and injury free season!

You are drinking hard stuff on that 1-2 picks.

Not sure what that means but ok I guess.....Robinson is a flat out stud and game changer...and I'm sure she will have a lot to prove this year. Kid can flat out take a game over. At times she gets a bit out of control or "too" fast for her teammates.
Wheeler is the ultimate HS pg. she can shoot the 3-create for teammates- get to the line-finish in traffic. I'm not discounting Robinson at all- just merely giving the returning Region POY her due. And depending on how Blazer and BC finish this year/ it'll be a toss up between the 2 this year.
If you're referring to Darnell-kid has proven herself and will have to shoulder even more of a load this year.
Berry hasn't been on the court in awhile- looked a little rusty the 5 or 6 times I saw her over the summer- plus WC likes to spread the floor and shoot the 3 and has the team to stay with that style. Berry may clean up the glass but shooting 3's tend to leave longer rebounds- we'll see how that progresses.
A lot of fine players from 1 thru wherever you want to stop- and I'd say we could debate forever. Paynter for instance is a good one-she will benefit from Wheeler creating for her as she did last year with Mayo and Hall- but Stone from WC can shoot the 3 and get to the rim and handle the rock and create a shot for herself. Plus she defends well for a young kid. Paynter needs to get better on D to make a top 10 list- I'm sure she's worked tirelessly on it with Fraley demanding D with his run and jump D. Some kids also have to play out of position out of necessity- like Haywood from Greenup. Playing point last year really took away from her scoring. Also when making these lists check shooting percentages on 3's- kid may make a few a game but if they shoot less than 35% as a jr or sr they probably aren't a great shooter. I said all this to get to this point- I have an opinion and I don't drink- but if it will bring light to my opinion and how I see the games and players I'm open to sit down and drink a few with you🤣
You're buying right?

should be fun to watch some of these matchups this year

Me too.....not only are team match ups and player match ups fun to watch- I love watching the "chess-games" Coaches play. There are some good ones in the 16th. Fraley's system and game management and development of players is 2nd to none in the region. It's fun to see all the different philosophies of the game collide. The new style seems to be spread the floor and shoot the 3- Rayburn from West Carter is one of the young Coaches that adheres to that philosophy like Fraley and he has done a great job at WC. Their future is bright. Easterling is another good one- his style is more of a mixture of inside- out and pressure D with a poseesion controlled offense and it works for him. Ricker and Fite also do wonderful jobs with their teams. Layne and Bradley both have also had success at their schools. Anxious to see the season unfold and watch the Coaches go at it. I got to see Greenup Co scrimmage earlier this week- I think they will be fine before seasons end under the direction of Roark- always takes awhile to implement a new system and translate it to the court.

Word is Ms Abby Pick is not playing....heard that at Greenup Co scrimmage. Huge loss for Coach Fite and she will definitely be missed. Good luck Ms Pick...it has been a joy watching you play the game!
