Somerset visits Ram Stadium in what I believe may be the first ever varsity game between the schools. This game will be a tall task for the Rams and will tell us a lot about how this team will stack up at the state level. My heart wants the Rams to win but my head thinks the Briar Jumpers might be too much in this one. Hopefully I am wrong but in order to win next week Raceland will have to play a near perfect game and eliminate several of the mistakes they made against Portsmouth West.

After watching some film on Somerset, I don't think the Rams will have the horses to keep up in this one. I hope I'm wrong but Somerset looks big and fast and they will cause problems for us up front all night. Defensively I think Raceland will hang for a while but the offensively we still struggle at times and I don't think we have the offensive firepower to score very many points against their defense. I look for the Raceland defense start off well but they wear down from being on the field too long which will lead to Somerset scoring a lot of points in the second half.
Somerset 35
Raceland 7

Raceland is playing at home and Somerset has to travel four hours to get there so
Raceland should have somewhat of an advantage with those factors. Raceland can win this game they just have to play a good game and not give up good field position and turn the ball over. Somerset is still working on its offense but their defense is top notch and is what is will carry them. I will be looking forward to hearing the updates.

Bunnies will be too much. Rams have have got to find some substance offensively in this game early and keep the defense from being on the field all night. If we can do that we CAN win this game, but I haven't seen anything that tells me that will be the case. Hope I am wrong, but....
Bunnies 35

It helps tremendously being at home. The Rams are just gonna have to buckle down, play smart and keep penalties to a minimum!

I think this game has a lot of potential to be in the Rams favor. Distance to the game is a factor. Somerset is looking for some offensive identity and balance.
Wouldnât surprise me to see a lower scoring game.
SHS 18
Rams 12

I have watched some film on the rams and I don't think they can break the Somerset Defense.... to fast and disciplined.... I actually see Somerset being able to score some points on them... going to go with Somerset by 21 only factor for Somerset in this game is the long bus ride there...

I really like having this game on the schedule. Hopefully it stays for awhile. Would like to see us pick up another team from down that way or one from NKY or venture over into WV somewhere, in place of the West Carter and or Lawrence Co game. I understand there is far more that goes into scheduling than just competition, but I'd like to see us playing one more solid and consistent "program" team. No offense to the dogs or comets, but even when they are "up" and we are "down" or rebuilding, I don't feel that game prepares us enough for the post season. A 1A school, not named Beechwood can't play world beaters every week, but I'd like to see us pick up two more consistent top 10 teams (from their respective classes).

Hurricane was a great add to our schedule this year! It handed us a loss but it's a bigger picture deal! That area of WV has some great high school football! Somerset is a solid team to get Raceland ready!

So no matter who wins, does anyone consider this an upset? I have to say it is, if Raceland wins. Not a major upset, but an upset none the less. Jmo. Am suprised to see ppl picking Raceland by more than one score.

I don't think the Rams will keep up with the Jumpers.

No but it can go a long way in confidence stand point because they got beat by Beechwood by 7. Beat Hazard by 11( without Cory Smith the 2nd half) and beat North Laurel and Rockcastle.
