Paul Laurence Dunbar 2017

What does the schedule look like for PLD in 2017? What do they need to do to improve on their 3 wins from last year?
#2
New HC at PLD, so I would say 2-4 win season. No stability in their program.
#3
This will be the HC's second year there. They won 3 games last year.

I don't think Coach Mullins will be returning. I could be wrong.

Where is he going?

The schedule will be tough as usual. Dunbar will need to replace some talented players but have a strong and hungry group of young men working hard in the weight room. The key thing toward the goal of improvement is the wieght room.

Coach Mullins is fully committed to Dunbar football! He is emphasizing relationship building/team camaraderie, discipline and hard work in the weight room. Steady progress is the focus right now for Bulldog Football! Brick by Brick they will get there!

What makes you say that? From his comments in the newspaper when he was hired, it sounded like he wants to be there for a while. Are you suggesting he could be let go?

You are wrong.

He has never even thought of leaving.

Ok thanks, I guess that's just his significant other that is not to fond, but OK and that's why I said " I could be wrong".

No need for back-handed comments.

He is staying.

Now that we have established that he is staying, what does everyone think about the prospects for the upcoming season? Will they have some good talent returning?

10-game regular season schedule now

Why did Gavin Bugg leave the team as starting QB?

Who will be Dunbar's starting QB now?

Hadn't heard about a QB change, but know they play Southwestern in their first game. I'm curious to see what kind of team the Warriors will have.

Seems you have an inside scoop. What can you tell me about Dunbar?

Dunbar has scored zero points in its 3 games in 2017 (scrimmage @ Mercer County, game vs. Southwestern @ Lafayette, and game vs. GRC at home).

Will the Bulldogs score at Tates Creek this week?

Mullins has 15 on-field victories all-time since 2011.....here are the season-ending records of the teams that he has defeated. Mullins has 1 victory over a team that ended the season with a winning record - Fleming County in 2015...that team lost in the first round of the playoffs. Also, no team that Mullins has defeated has ever won a playoff game.

In addition, Mullins won no games against county rivals, Raceland and Russell, while head coach at Greenup County.

Another observation.

Dunbar's off-season weightlifting regimen consisted of circuit training without the use of heavy weights. Dunbar did not lift with heavy weights until June. By then, it was far too late to be ready for August.

Mullins made the decision to do this. We all know who pays for Mullins' mistakes - the players.

How can a school this large with the resources they have be so bad consistently
#19
They haven't scored in 2 games and 1 scrimmage and had a TOTAL of 3 yards of offense vs GRC. Sorry folks I don't see Dunbar winning a game. Their line on both sides are small and weak, no running or passing game and that's a 5A school of 2,200 plus kids SMH

I think that you meant 6A school since PLD is in the same district with Scott County, Bryan Station, Henry Clay, and Frederick Douglass.

Also, I can see PLD winning at McCreary Central (3A) and/or vs. Western (4A). However, they will need to find some offense to do so.

Simple, Dunbar is a Soccer school first, Band School Second, Cross Country school third and football school 4th.

^^^
And academic before any of those.

Correction... PLD is a 6A school. Sorry for the mis- print.

You forgot cheer leading. They are great at state and national level competition.

Coach Mullins obtained one of UK football's Strength and Conditioning interns to run our off season program until the 2016-17 school year ended.

The intern was taught and recommended by Coach Corey Edmond, the Head Football strength coach at U.K.

Coach Mullins made steady progress at Greenup! Scoreboards can't fully judge a coaches full impact!

Dunbar graduated a very talented class last year. We lost five of our top offensive players to transfer and are still trying to find the right mix!

Every coach is working, digging and fighting hard. While we know most people will judge us based on scores, wins and losses we are preaching patience and endurance. This ship won't turn over night, it will take time and determination but no one is quitting or giving up!

While it is clear you are not a Coach Mullins fan, I am not sure what good you are doing by tearing him down as a person and coach on Bluegrass rivals. How is this supposed to help him, the kids and program?

No one takes losing harder than a coach - all of us give up hours and days away from our families trying to help build a championship team on and off the field. He is still fighting to find the right answers.

Not everyone is going to agree with how each coach does things but to torch them on a message board I am not sure I get that.

I am not trying to stir you up or agitate you, I guess I am trying to understand your goal here?

The wrath of a so called "scorned" assistant. Its always everyone elses fault.

....and the South Shore so-called mafia has spoken yet once again.....lol.....trying to protect its own in young Mr. Mullins.....but, the truth still is that Mullins only has 15 wins all-time in 6+ seasons...Mullins has not scored a point in 3 games this season and the departure of many players and coaches is largely due to his ineptitude in leading a football team.

#1 You can't do better.
#2 I'm sure its been a long time since Mullins has scored a point. He's a coach not a player.
