Top 5 Johnson Central players all time?
#1
This school pumps out talent year in and year out. Would Jude be considered the best of the bunch?
#2
I'm taking Shawn Grim over JJ. I know JJ holds the records but I just have to take into account the tenacity Shawn played with and the level of competition Shawn's teams played against.
If you need any assistance or want to report a problem feel free to PM me and we will get it taken care of!  Thank you for choosing to be apart of the BGR community!

Neal Burchett was JC's first ever All-State player in school history (someone correct me if I'm wrong). The stories I've heard, he was a bad dude.

Josh Banks was pretty salty in his day.

Scott Salyer was a stud back when JC wasn't very good. He would have been a monster on these recent JC teams

Hard to argue with JJ Jude's numbers and Geordan Blanton is obviously up there.

A name I haven't seen mentioned is Ian Welch. Posted huge stats as a receiver and as a DB. Think he led the State in INT's with like 13 in a season.

I would go:
1. Jude
2. Blanton (the catalyst of their First Ring)
3. Salyer
4. Grimm
5. Welch

Obviously I can't remember names from way back in the day, but for the past 10-15 years this is how I would go.

JC was good when Scott Salyer played, they had an undefeated regular season his Senior year, which was Bull Musick's final year. Scott had to share the ball with Josh Banks til his Senior year.

I seen Jude, Grimm, and Blanton all play.

On the field, Blume was the best RB in the 2 games I watched him. Kid was a stud.

Are all the Fannins in EKY related in some way.
Seems like I remember a Fannin Kid at RB for Pburg in the early 00's that was pretty good. Even played against him if im not mistaken.

Blume was a good back, but he was not in the same class as Jude. Jude was hands down the best offensive player ever to play at JC and he was among the very best defensive players to play for the Golden Eagles.

A couple of players who I don't think have been mentioned yet are Jesse Peck and Blake Johnson. Peck may have been the most athletically gifted lineman to ever play for JC. As a heavyweight wrestler, Peck was ranked in the top five nationally in his weight class. He was big, strong, agile, and fast.

Johnson Central was wearing out Cov Cath's interior defense until he went down with a season ending injury. After Johnson left the field, the Colonels rolled on to the 2006 state 3A title. Johnson was as good a linebacker as he was a fullback.

Agree with the Johnson statement as he was dominating that game. But being an old timer& have said in earlier
posts Bryan Taylor best player to come from JC football & top all around sports athlete that came through the school.

You are usually really good at this stuff, but you blew this one, big league!!

Scott played on some pretty good teams.

You are correct. He was..

Waaaay under rated and one of the best of all time was Phillip Wireman on the defensive side of things.

Jude by a huge margin...The other two don't even come close..

Jude punished people and had the best field vision by far..

B.J. Daniel was the quarter back in 96 & 97, then Aaron Davis in 98.

Salyer didn't run the ball much until his senior season, Shannon Price was the fullback & Mike Bowling was before he. Before Bowling, was Chris Stapleton.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Mike Bowling, he was an All-State linebacker in the mid 90's.

With that said here's my top 5:

Geordan Blanton-2016 Class 4A Player of the Year
J.J. Jude-1st Team All-State RB in 2010 & 2011
Mike Bowlin-1997 1st Team All-State LB
Scott Salyer-2000 2nd Team All-State LB
Neal Burchett-1973 1st Team All-State LB
