I would go with Epps. Have to throw another name out there though. Stacey Reed (Sheppard) at Laurel County. Great high school and college career.

Reed was very good!

The players with the best college careers and played in the WNBA have to be the best to play in KY. Kendall Noble, Girl from Rocastle that played at Louisville several years back, Figgs, and several others got to be the best so far. Im sure the Older generation players may been pretty dang good but there wasnt much opportunity for girls basketball players a long time ago.

Sara Hammond/Rockcastle. And I totally agree Rock

Epps definitely not

Epps will be playing professional basketball, that alone puts her around the top.

If I'm wrong, please correct me, but I think Peggy Gay from Buckhorn only got to play one season in 74-75 which is when the KHSAA brought back girls high school basketball. She did score 74 in a single game and her team won the only district title in girls' basketball in school history. She went on to play at EKU and is a member of the EKU Athletic Hall of Fame. Pat Summit once referred to Peggy as being "as good as any player I've seen". Peggy went on to play professionally for the Philadelphia Fox of the WBL. With 4 years of actual high school girls basketball and the exposure opportunities that today's kids have, Peggy would be on the short list of the best girl high school basketball players in KY. history.

It seems like there should be two classes for this category say before 1990 and after 1990.. the girls game has changed so much it's hard to really just list one player.. I remember watching games in the early 80's and it's completely different than today's game..

Ukari Figgs, Epps, Geri Grigsby, and Peggy Gay. All players listed in above posts are or were very good but these top the list.

You are so right passtheball, women's basketball has changed so much since 1974. Some middle school teams now could destroy high school teams from the 70's. That's not putting those teams down but the athleticism, skills and fundamentals in kids now a days is very impressive. Totally two different eras! In the 70's/80's very few teams had more than 1 or 2 good players. Now we have teams with as many as 6 D1 players in the roster.

Kim Mays

Best ever in the 13th. From Knox Central for those that don't remember, late 80s I believe.

She is a great player but nowhere close to the best
04-19-2017, 04:16 AM
Her resume' says otherwise. She may not be in a class by herself but it does not take long to call roll.

Like I said she's a great player but we are talking about the Best Player. Maybe top ten????

Epps was a winner in high school and also surrounded with great players .she had a good career at uk but couldn't win the big games. She will be average in the wnba at best, and that is saying a lot. Like you said about Creech scoring is not everything and Epps has had lots of problems off the court and that factors in to Everything.

What other current players in Kentucky have a shot a the WNBA?
04-19-2017, 01:46 PM
Epps finished as a top 5 scorer all time at UK, top 7 in assist, first team all SEC 3 times(only one other player in UK history done this). Plus she was in the all academic team two season. She is a great kid also. Top 3 player easy. Average in the WNBA is still better than anyone else listed other than Figgs.

If you're talking about going pro, you have to throw Kendall Noble in. She will be making a lot more money than Epps. That's a fact.

Well then we are talking the best and according to you its Diggs. My opinion Epps not in the top 5
04-19-2017, 05:35 PM
Noble better all around player than Epps
04-19-2017, 05:43 PM
Epps been in a lot of trouble at UK also
04-19-2017, 06:49 PM
So how do you know Noble will be making more than Epps? Just curious where the fact stuff can be found. Epps will be in the WNBA and play overseas, spoke with her father Sunday. We will just agree to disagree.
04-19-2017, 07:53 PM
It's a fact the wnba doesn't pay nearly as much as overseas. I know Noble signed a contract overseas paying more than most superstars in the wnba. Epps went 3rd round in the draft so I'm doubting she will make 50K a year.

You are correct Dr. Brittney Grier went overseas to play and gets a lot more money

Makayla was home and out drinking with friends, one of them being underage. Her BAC wasn't even in the intoxicated range, it just indicated the presence of alcohol.
Coach Mitchell took issue with it, as he should. But I wouldn't call this a lot of trouble. It happened early in her college career.
04-19-2017, 08:16 PM
Apparently new one hasn't seen Noble play very much. She is definitely one of the best players come out of KY
04-19-2017, 08:34 PM
Watched Noble play several times and she is a very good player and she is one of my favorites because she can do a little of everything which is rare in the mountains. Epps will be playing overseas plus the WNBA. $50,000 a year is roughly $17,000 a month in the WNBA which is not bad. Then she will go overseas!
04-19-2017, 09:05 PM
Who is Brittney Grier? I have not seen her play. Where did she play baller?
