I was impressed with Magoffin County's new gym.

Their cafeteria/concession stand is very nice. The Six TV display is sharp.

The gym is a good size for mountain basketball. Big enough for district and regional tournaments, but not so big that a decent crowd would make it look empty.

JC puts Paintsville on a running clock with a 35 point lead in the 3rd and JC starts subbing in the 3rd quarter. Paintsville left their starters in till just over a minute left and cut the 35 point lead to 16.

Come on TC...Yes they did. A SOPH, 2 FROSH and a 8th grader. The lone SR they have...why not let him play as much as he can? It was his last High School game he will ever play.

Then they subbed with the rest of the team. 1 JR and the rest: couple SOPHs, couple FRs and a couple 8th graders. :Thumbs:

Maybe in the 57th? Not at JC though.... I've paid five all year in this region (expect for the Expo). and I don't know of any other school in the region that that has a seat upgrade. Omg.

The last two times JC beat Paintsville in the first round of the 57th District tournament when held at Magoffin County.... 2000 & 2013.

In 2000, JC made it to the Elite 8.
In 2013, JC went to the Sweet 16.

JC has the reserved seating at all their home games as well... have had people tell me, "I PAID FOR THAT SEAT!" before. :biggrin: I think the whole stretching the tournament out to 5 nights for district is a bit much. JC had a good size crowd there last night and there was plenty of seats up top and seats in the bottom as well left.

Not complaining. Just stating why the final was less than 20 instead of 35-40. It's common in basketball for coaches to go after the moral victory when then have no shot at the actual victory. Shoot, I've even done it a time or two.

MC did the Tourny right by splitting the boys games.
There is NO WAY you could have fit Martin and Magiffin Co in that gym lst night.
It wouldn't surprise me if they turned people away tonight.
If the Tourny was held at JC. I would have done it the same way.

I think MC has done a fine job of hosting the tournament! 👍

There will be people come out for this game from both those counties that haven't been to a high school basketball game in 15-20 years.
