The 14th is Damon Tobler hands down.
02-17-2017, 05:30 PM
14th has to be Tobler. No question.
02-17-2017, 06:13 PM
Damon is a great player and would make any team better, but the best ALL AROUND player in the 14th is definitely Carter from Letcher. :1:

^^ These are the results... I thought the same of the 15th, Dalton without question... Over 3000 career points, over 1000 career rebounds, leading the nation in points per game at 38.1... yet he ties for POY?
nicker:

He's a very good basketball player, but there would be a decent list of players across the state putting up 38 per game if they got to shoot it as much as him.

^ We are talking about the 15th here... Dalton is shooting almost 60% from the field... averaging around 24 shots per game on the year.

Your just biased Guru. Go get you some haterade. Perry is gonna walk through this region like Grant took Richmond.
02-17-2017, 09:08 PM
Gover is a lock in the 12th this year and is also possibly, pound for pound one of the best to ever play in this region.
02-17-2017, 09:12 PM
Torell Carter goes out there and gets it done on a regular basis and he is right in the thick of things.
But I gotta ask my boy MHG if he can get me some of whatever he's smoking.
When I think of best all-around player... I think of someone who scores, assists, rebounds and defends. Damon Tobler does all those things while Carter does one of them well.

Good choice for the 14th Carter a very good player.

He does shoot the ball more then others but who else on his team will score? The second best player is an 8th grader and he had a couple good games but he's struggled in some as well. Their 19-11 and I think Timmy has done a great job getting them to that record.

He still gets 6 assists a game. Besides who else on that teams gonna do the scoring?

i think if anyone should be tied with him though you could argue it should've been Mason Blair.
02-18-2017, 08:58 PM
Blair shoots his arm off and hurts his team a lot of the time while doing it. He is a me first player to say the least.

He has broke every record in Johnson County. I feel bad for his teammates apparently "he" can do it all by himself since they are never mentioned.

I seen where Russell stats at Magoffin are scored over 2,700 points over a 1,000 rebounds. That's not bad .
02-19-2017, 01:09 AM
You guys can say what you want about Mason, his team is 23-6 and he also has two other guys on his team that score in double figures. Cole Crace is another player on his team that is a great player. Cole averages over 20 a game. Jacob Rice plays the point and averages around 12 a game. Say what you want. These guys win. Btw, how many Sweet 16's you guys played or coached in?

Don't get so mad Mr Slate . It's ok . Lol

Congrats to Carter. I've always loved watching this young man play in the 14th region. Very well respectful boy!! Well deserved

Carter is a super nice high school player but no where close to Tobler. That selection was a joke.
02-19-2017, 07:23 AM
Blair is a volume shooter/scorer my point was he does have good teammates, but I think their team could have a lot more success on a higher level if he shared the ball. They might win the 15th but no team is going to go very far in the sweet 16 with one kid taking 15-20 3's and 30-35 shots total every night.
Richie Farmer, Chris Lofton, Elijah Justice none of those kids put the shots up like Blair and all had a lot more success. The article in the Lexington Herald made me think that Blair cares more about his personal accolades than his teams success. Winning the district and region should be his only focus right now.

Been triple teamed all season. Been in the top 10 in scoring three years in a row. Tobler is a fine player but this isn't a joke.

I think you need to go watch Russell play. To say he doesn't deserve it shows you haven't watched a game. He is a true team player and his stats show how good he is.
02-19-2017, 09:15 PM
It's all about him. Even JC Page is all about Blair. They forgot they have a team.

I've watched Russel play many times. Including the game at JC this year against Blair. I'm in no way shape and form saying Russel isn't a great player or team leader. But Blair is averaging 33 pts a game. JC has 6 more wins and 4 less losses. So a much better record. Not to mention JC has played a more difficult schedule by going out of the region more often. I just think Blair has had more success this year then Russel. Team wise as well. Russel is an incredible player and I've seen him many times. He's honestly one of my favorite players to watch in this region. But stats wise and record wise Blair has the advantage. Doesnt mean I think Russel isn't incredibly talented.

Glad to see Carter win what he deserves. A mountain boy that has put in his time and gave all he had to his team... I am sure PCC fans are on the verge of a meltdown knowing that one of their recruits did not win. They are entitled to the regional championship and POY every year!!!!
02-20-2017, 01:49 PM
Magoffin County schedule was tough they played , Oldham County , Mason County , Elliott county , Perry Central, Knott County two times , North Lareal . That's a tough schedule , if you ask me .

Not a great ball handler, only goes north and south well, runs over too many people if they are willing to take the charge, not many are willing. LOL
Not a great shooter, he does make some shots and is improving that part of his game. Rebounds well for his size and will make a great small college player. Carter handles it, passes it, rebounds it and shoots it well. Both are wonderful kids. Could of very well had CO-POY, and Perry may walk thru Region, but that is just because of the other players on the team, Carter doesn't have near as much help as Tobler. Just saying!

They could just as well be 1A and 1B, I think you may see the TEAM as a whole and not just the player. Tobler is surrounded by more talent so of course it's going to make him look better. If Letcher would of gotten some recruits I'm sure Carter would look a lot better too. :eyeroll:
