Who will be the next coach at Harlan
#1
Since Coach Donahue's resignation has been made official, who do you think will be the next coach of the Harlan Green Dragons?
#2
Heard it was a life long dream of Ovie Canadys to get that job. I'd say he will be the prime candidate.
#3
That would be a great hire, IMO!!

Grannybear, kind of an inside joke with Ovie. LOL Im sure he got a kick out of it. Hehehehe. Hope he stays right here in Perry County. Great guy and great coach.
#10
I spoke with him this morning. He was not amused! LOL

He IS a wonderful guy, and I miss him very much!!
#11
Coach Donahue will be hard to replace
#12
The right hire could be huge. If someone could pull a few players from the county, Harlan city could be a state title contender.

John Luttrell

Hopefully not!

Frank Shope?
#16
This would be a good job for a young assistant looking for the first head coaching job. Could go with some good offensive minds like a Brent Collins, or Matthew Chandler or even, Dan Howard.
#17
Scotty Russell.
#18
Who are all these guys?
#19
John Reynolds
#20
Anybody been told or heard anything official
#21
Scott Russell may be the guy. If Frank Shope wanted it that wouldn't be a bad move either.

It takes a special kind of coach to take a job at a single A school. You have to be innovative and far thinking. One game you could have a kid playing FB and the next game he is playing tackle. As a coach you don't have some of the tools that other schools have, you may have to mow the field and paint it too. You can also be responsible for taping ankles and washing the uniforms. It is compounded by being an area that is bleeding jobs and people due to the economy and enrollments are down.

There is a guy out there is I'm sure would love to have the opportunity to get a job like Harlan, but I think it could be a young guy who may only stay a short time, or you might get a guy who has made his bones and is looking for a job to end his career on a high note at a good school with a nice tradition.

In any event I certainly hope they get a guy who buys into the challenge and embraces it and makes the most of it.

Hope the Green Dragons can make a big splash.

Just heard that they have several applicants but only 1 with much experience . Could be a rough way to go in dragon land
#26
mention couple of names who you have heard jerry
#27
Only 1 with head coaching experience and u can prob guess that one. All other r young guys, minimal asst coach experience, none under a proven winning coach
#28
