Congrats to Belfryand Coach Gannon...It is really tough though when two players are hurt in the first half due to the refs letting it get out of hand but that is just how it goes...I was as well disappointed in the Belfry Pep Section when they chanted Cry Baby when Thompson got hurt very distastful and disrespectful...Thought it was funny when Buther told them to shut up...Congrats to Butcher, mercer and Comer on a great game just couldnt take it away at Pond Creek get em in region...
Good Luck to both teams...

Do you not remember any Belfry players going down? If not, you must have only seen the game through Orange Colored glasses. You may have thought it was funny when Butcher told them to shut up, but that just shows his immaturity. I'm sure if they were chanting cry baby it was directed towards him since all he did all night was cry to the refs. Someone in the administration needs to teach him and his assistants (Comer, not Mercer) to restrain themselves and not direct any comments towards the fans and also I think Butcher needs to learn a few more words than crap to use when being interviewed.

Great post. All he can say is "CRAP"! Yea,letting high school kids get to them is pretty bad. Also, the big orange was not the only ones getting killed. Marybeth Johnson took some hard hit to the head but she toughs it out and still goes. She played with a busted lip/mouth the whole entire game from getting shoved down and no call. Also,Haley killing Brooke the whole time and only calling fouls on Brooke Stanley for blocking. I can't see how its a block when you go flying back in the air from being pushed. But ohh well, Goodluck Wed. girls!! GO GET EM'!!

Twice during the game he turned to his assistants and told them to sit down, maybe even said hush at one point! So you have not one person, but three people arguing calls.
Also, I have seen several times when he doesn't like a call he waves his arms at the ref acting like they don't know what they are talking about..Granted, though, I have seen Coach Gannon throw his fits a time or two and he definitely gets on the refs..In tournament time though you have to pick and choose your battles..Example, Phillip Wireman from Johnson Central..I think over the course of the year he constantly says stuff at officials, but he knows when to shut up and let the game play..It's going to take an experienced coach to lead their team to the region title..I think Wireman has that experience, and I don't think Gannon is far behind. I think Butcher and Miller from Magoffin have a lot to learn when it comes to how to win in a tournament, with that being said Gannon hasn't gotten there yet, although I think he may this year.. Remember this, it may not always be the team that is supposed to win that does, but the team/coaching staff that exhibits the right behavior..No one wants a representative from the 15th going down state that is going to show themselves.

Just so we're clear about what was going on with Hannah Thompson and the severity of her injury at the time of Butcher's "outburst", the preliminary MRI has indicated a tear of her ACL. Now, I would think a coach knows when one of his players is truly INJURED and not just hurt. So let's think of how we would all feel if you were in that situation and heard fans taunt the player by telling her to "Keep crying". Not saying that anyone should condone or object to his reaction, but think about the situation.

Actually they didnt chant that until he said sumtin to them. A student said something to another student about his shirt cause he had it decorated and he went and showed himself. I was there I know what happened. The students shouldnt have chanted it but he asked for it by running his mouth to them.
By the way I seen Mary Beth get hit kicked held and everything else all game. Also Haley should ahve fouled out early they are a such thing as player control foul which she should have gotten alot.
Congrats Belfry your the better team 3 times victorious over the Hawks this season.

Yeah i sure did see Belfry's players hit the deck a few times i also stated that the officals let the game get out of hand my point was that it was hard for Pike Central to win when Haley gets hurt in the first quarter and then Hannah tore her ACL in the second...Right there are two starters who got hurt one who is out now for the season and one who was out for around 3 min of the first half...
And going to where all of you are saying all Butcher does is question calls im sure you was not watching Gannon EVERY CALL that went against him he argued with so stop bashing Butcher...That is all any one has done all season and i think he has proven him self by making it through a fairly tough district...Gannon is a good coach though just to clarify that....The diffrence between Gannon and Butcher is refs take crap from Gannon and get scared of him but Butcher they just go ahead and T him up...Also where you all said it is sad when high school students can get in a coaches head well what about refs...You have to take it into context his player was hurt they said stuff to him he was already upset with a few calls people it is Eastern Kentucky Basketball at its finest...I like Belfry and im good friends with many of their players...I just can't wait to see how teams will fair with 13 region refs...Guarantee Gannon is going nuts on every call as im sure Butcher and Pup will be to...
