If all you knew about Coach Keith was his sideline personality, you might have had the wrong impression of him, because he was a super-intense coach and I know that rubbed some of his rivals the wrong way. But away from an actual game he was a funny, extremely smart guy who would do anything for you. If his health had held up he would have never left his beloved Tigers, and God only knows how many more wins and regional titles he would have had.

One of the smartest men to ever be in Clay County. Not just referring to basketball, all around intelligence.

^Same thing could be said about Billy Hicks; so animated on the sidelines and will always be one of my favorite coaches. So was Bobby Keith. He was larger than life in the Clay County gym.

Truly a legend in his own time. God speed on his journey; he will be missed beyond measure.

Couldn't agree more. Clay was completely owning the region until Corbin hired Billy and gave Coach Keith a worthy rival. Amazing really that we had two of the all-timers right here in the 13th at the same time.

A trip I will always remember. I was a little 8th grader the day we traveled from somerset to clay for a preseason scrimmage. Ritchie's senior year I believe. Even though it was just a preseason scrimmage it was the most intense game I had ever seen They threw rocks at our bus on the way in and on the way out. Freaked this young pup out. I was ready to get the hell out of there. Coach Keith had whole community intense about their basketball.

Coaches usually get too much credit for a team or programs wins but this would not be one of the those cases. His effect on Clay county and its youth will continue on. In Clay county the kids will always dream of playing for Clay County high school and that is directly related to Coach Keith.

Years ago the Cawood Trojans played Clay County in the regional tournament, and darn near beat them. It was a very intense game. Coach Keith snatched the mic at the score's table and spoke to the fans about coming back the next game to watch the Tigers win a game that would send them to state!! It was like electricity passing through the bleachers! LOL

We didn't mind the rock throwing very much. Harlan Co always did that, too!

Coach Keith's viewing will be Saturday from 4-8 at Clay Co. High School gym (Bobby Keith gymnasium). Funeral Sunday at 2 in gym.

Never was a coach loved more by his fan base. They would have followed Coach Keith into the bowels of hell to watch their beloved Tigers.

An interesting tidbit about Coach was the fact that he loved football, he had season UK tickets and attended many games. I remember talking to him one day about A UK loss and he spread a napkin out and started breaking down what his offense would look like. Could you imagine his intensity on the football field, I'd be willing to bet he'd have been as successful as he was in Basketball. He was a motivator and his kids would leave it all on the court.
