Cordia's Oumar Keita Receives #1 State Ranking Class of 2018 from ESPN
#1
ESPN just recently scored Cordia's Oumar Keita a score of 85 and 4-stars making him the #1 rated player Class of 2018 in Kentucky and number 17 nationally.....

Fascinating how that works.
He's not ranked in the top 5 in the 14th Region at this point.
One ranking based on potential, one on performance.
#3
or could be that the coaches who vote in the region poll are punishing the kid because he's from Cordia........

and i don't know about this kid and what he does during the Summer but national rankings are based off AAU and the Summer circuit not High school play, so i'm not sure it's potential vs performance - it's summer peformance....
#4
No, his performance/stats for the season show he's not top five in the 14th. Maybe he improved a lot in the summer.

He averaged 5 points and 4 rebounds last year, I'd say the 14th region coaches are basing his rating on performance!

He's not in the top 60 nationally.

Congratulations to Keita. That's a great honor for a great kid. If he keeps working, the sky is the limit.
#8
Will he stay at Cordia if Rhodes is not in charge? Good luck to him
#9
I think he should've been one of the top juniors in the state, 3 years ago. Lol.

Most people don't know that Oumar played all last season on one leg he had surgery in November last year on a broken foot. He had to have a screw put in because it was not healing properly. He was probably not even 20% all last season. He could barely even jump. He has worked like a man possessed all summer in the weight room and gym. He has put on good mussel mass and is way more athletic. He had a great summer and got some good exposure he picked up an offer from VCU and Samford along with a couple more. He is really aggressive around the basket now . In the past he tried to do a lot of fineness stuff now anywhere in the paint he is trying to tear the rim off every trip down the floor. I really look for Oumar to have a dominat year.

I watched a lot of Oumar this summer with the magic. Got to spend a little time with him. Really good kid. At this point he is basically a rebounder and shot changer/blocker but he is developing some offense to his game.
#12
I thought he had all kinds of potential last year. He knew how to post up then. Just throw it inside to him.

Wonder who paid for the surgery?

LOL. This is like the kid Cordia had a couple years back who was "committed" to Ohio St. Look the kid is a decent player, but unless a miracle happens and he magically gets ten times better, he is somewhere between high NAIA to maybe low D-1. He will never play for anyone like UK.

dore if I were you I wouldn't leave the house this weekend. Keep your phone within arms reach because I would be expecting a call from coach cal, coach K,or Roy Williams. The season is close at hand and these guys are looking for someone who really know basketball. FYI no one ever said cordia had some kid committed to Ohio state. Thad matta came to the cordia gym to watch Malik Hines the kid is now playing for UMASS. He never committed he had an offer but decided to go elsewhere. Oumar is just now starting to mature he is only a junior. He has offers from VCU,Samford and Western Ky. He does have a couple more mid major that I can't think of right now. Oumar right now is the best player in the 14 and it's not even close. He will blow up this year. Name me one team in KY let alone the 14th that would not kill to have him.

Anyone have his official stats from last year? If he averaged 5 puts and 4 reb a game, then it's hard to believe he would be ranked in Ky....let alone nationally ranked.

http://www.bluegrassrivals.com/forum/sho...alik+hines That thread proves both of your statements in bold are lies. No one said Hines committed to Ohio St? That is funny because that is the name of that thread. including a post stating Rhodes had been asked about Hines and the Ohio St had NOT offered. I understand you want to believe someone playing for the school you support is the next great player, but you just need to be realistic and realize Keita is not that good. Like i said, he is a high NAIA to low D1 type player. That is nothing to be ashamed of. Just dont over hype the kid.

I honestly feel sorry for you FatPat and Papparazzi.

Why? Because i dont want to over hype a kid? I've watched him play several times. He is a good player. But realistically he isn't a top 100 in his class unless it is the weakest class of recruits ever.

I guess ESPN is not a reputable source
