The Six Kentucky's
#1
Look at this map and tell me if you agree or disagree with my breakdown of the Six Kentucky's.....

Western KY
Louisville
Northern KY
Central KY
Northeastern KY
Eastern KY

Do you consider your county in another region than what my lines indicate?

From Bourbon County South, I would move the EKY line 1 county west all the way to the TN line. (Whitley, Laurel, Jackson, Estill, Powell Counties I have always thought of as being EKY). I also have always thought of EKY to be just that and not separated it into EKY & NEKY. It should be noted that I am in deep WKY and my views are likely different than the locals.
#3
There has to be a division between Northeastern And the rest of eastern Kentucky. I would also further divide eastern Kentucky by creating a Southeastern section.

Just looking at my area, Henry in with Owen groups. Still thinking about Nelson

Nothing remotely central about Corbin. If they are in Appalachia they are E KY imo, or SE KY if you prefer. Powell is def E KY. Laurel maybe not be but they have as many or more rednecks there as anywhere in E Ky lol...

When making this up, I was wavering on where to put Powell and Whitley counties.

Powell county to me, feels like you are in CKY. When you cross the Powell co./Wolfe Co. line on the Mountain parkway, I already feel like I'm in Winchester/Lexington.

Whitley County doesn't feel like an EKY county either. I-75, IMO, makes Whitley Co. in CKY.

Can't go by how you feel riding in a car. You can spend 30 seconds in Stanton and know you're in E KY. Powell Co. isn't already in Win/Lex, it is squarely in the mountains of E KY. And I-75 is meaningless. Corbin is 99% like the other towns in E KY and 1% like Central Ky.

I hear ya. That part of the state is difficult because while there is a Northern KY and Northeastern KY there is no clearly defined Southern or Southeastern KY.

My adjustments would to move Morgan to NEKY (as they are 16th region in everything else) and move Powell, Estill, Jackson, Laurel, and Whitley to EKY.

I live I Johnson County. So my breakdown is not 100% accurate to where people from each county say they are from and I recognize that. But most of the people I know from Whitley county do say they are from CKY.

Bell,Harlan,Knox,Laurel,Letcher, McCreary and Whitley are all included in the Southeast.

I think you have to many counties in the wky region.

Take it from someone who was born a raised in Laurel County. There is no way anyone from there would ever say Thierry from cky. Ask any of them and the all say their from southeastern KY. Never in my 46 years on this earth have I ever heard anyone from Laurel or Whitley say they from cky.

That's wishful thinking laurel county is definitely not the bluegrass region been there and it's definitely just a little hick town in eastern ky. Same as Corbin, Barboursville,Williamsburg,Manchester not bad places some are bigger than the others but they are all eastern ky. Some just think they are to good to be associated with the other.

How far over would you move the line?
I've always considered Bowling Green the start of WKY.

I think Hendorson, MClean, Muhlenburg and Todd are the line for WKY. I consider Warren, Allen, Franklin, etc.... to be South Central KY.
