Amos McCreary Named Bell County Head Football Coach
#31
Though 70 plus pages its vague at best...as it should be without getting personal liable for a lawsuit....I could go back and post a ton of "vague comments", I mean a TON" but you know what, I agree here that its time to move forward. So, losing 9 seniors and a late start to learning a new system bad, do we know/rumor any kids leaving this next year...key players best described by position not names. Several times in the earlier post the future was described as not much in the pipeline thru youth. Well that's certainly not the administrations fault and new coach's problem. Band aid, Rich Brooks...UK rose from the ashes and was at least going to bowl games every year. How much better are we know after the great Joker and current coach big fix?!
Also, I didnt see a BROKE program last year, just one that couldnt beat a Corbin team and really was a play or two away in both games of winning those.
I still dont get the band aid fix for a 10-3 team that close to a district championship

And let me add one more thing...I did have to catch up on 70+ pages of comments in which about 85% of it was worthless garbage and yes, I could have missed a interesting tidbit along the blah blah blah and more blah. BUT there are a handful of you that I welcome the insight (and debate) with because like YOU, I care about the future of this program...NONE of us would be here if you didn't give a crap.

Better hope nothing is in writing.

Really, this guys knows coach McCrearys phone number and Coach knows someone in the area he wants to recruit. He has not been here three days total. I highly doubt it, rubish. Now if boosters are recruiting so what. Coach is not.

Go back to the original thread. I called out of state hire one the first few pages before anyone else on here said anything about it. I knew they wouldn't get what they wanted in state.
Nobody wants that mess.

Pretty sure he had a little league coach and an assistant middle school coach as his staff right now.

Thanks for doing the digging, even though im sure you had ulterior motives going in :lmao:

Out of state was not a hard call, nobody in state would touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Good Luck to Coach McCreary. Wishing nothing but the best for Bell Co.

Has Coach put a staff together? Who is on it?
#42
Has Coach put a staff together? OC ? I guess he is the DC. Anyone heard anything.
#43
Heard his brother will be OC. What experience does he have? When does spring practice start? Everything has got pretty quiet.
#44
Spring Practice starts this week. We will see what and who, as it all unfolds. Go Cats!!

I have heard they canceled spring practice in Bell Co? Any truth? Seems to still be a lot of bad vibes coming from twig mountain.
#46
I went to school to watch and did not see anyone practicing. I thought I may had the wrong time. Can someone explain what is going on? Will there be spring ball or not?
#47
Why worry about practicing? Coach gets his money either way right??

Just a bit more info, I am not following, are you saying we will not have spring football?
#49
From what I was told, there was an announcement that practice was canceled for the week. No reasons why, but , can only be because of lack of staff that can attend or just lack of staff. Either way we have missed weights and now some of spring. This situation continues to hurt kids and the program.

Exactly what i was told as well. Not good at all. From my understanding thats a week we can't make up either? said that once the dates were final you don't get them back any truth to that?

Schools submit their dates ahead of time. Those are locked in.

Uh oh........ I sure hate that Bell is goin thru what they are......

I believe the dates had to be turned in to the KHSAA by Dec 15th, or you lose the opportunity to have spring practice.

I was just guessing why no practice, if someone knows the answer, please, I would like to know.

HCS, you got all the answers, tell us why McCreay canceled the first week of practice.

I have tried to put this behind us and move forward, but the gift just keeps on giving. So, with that said, I want to thank Richard Gambrel, Tom Lefevers and John Brock Jr. What you have managed to do with this program since November, will never be forgotten. Just keeps reminding me what is in charge in our school system.

For everybody that is panicking, we will be fine. I know we have missed some weightlifting and agility time. If everyone will think, we haven't had actual spring practice in the past 4 years. Yes our kids have ran some plays in spring without any pads or helmets, but NO spring practice! So all Bell Faithful need to be patient and realize we are gonna be fine.
#57
Really, you seem to forget we have to learn a complete new system both offensively and defensively. So I would not just throw away 10 practices. Sugar coat whatever, we are behind and continue to get farther behind with a new coach in place. Maybe if we would have had spring ball the last 4 years we would have beat Corbin the last two. Just an opion.

Can't help there. I'm not following the day-to-day operations at Bell.
I'm not sure how it works, but I think Bell hired a coach for the 2016-2017 school year, so when does he supposed to start legally? I'd want to be there finding out what I had though, so I will have to agree with you there, I guess. I'm not sure about his situation.

Not exactly true statements. The last year they did not do full contact spring practice but they did do something. The kids are very behind. December to who knows when is not some weightlifting. McCreary maybe a good coach but he is not a magician. No conditioning will expose problems that will keep on giving throughout the season I am afraid. His brother who will call plays is not exactly well thought of in Harlan Co. What experience does he have calling plays on any level?

Not the time to panic? When is the time? You need to be telling that to the parents I have talked too. They are starting to question everything. You can't just show up and play. It doesn't work that way and if you know anything about Bell Co. football you know why the sucess has been made. Can't buy it at the Wal-Marts as the old man said many times.

I think the bigger issue here is that I hear jobs are shifting and the McCreary's may not get the jobs they were promised. Or at least that is what a few people that "should" know are saying. Going to end up being just like all the past coaches and be in a classroom.

Shows how much some of you guys know. Where was spring practice going to be held last year??? The field was destroyed and so was practice field across the road.
