GC returns alot from last year. Alot of 3 and 4 year starters.

I like Greenup to finish 2nd in the district. I look for them to compete with Johnson Central in their match-up in Paintsville in regular season. I wouldn't be totally shocked if Greenup made it to the Region Title game for a rematch with JC.

Greenup will need to find some offense , their defense should be pretty good , its way to early but right now depending on transfers to and from other schools I would say greenup will be the best defense Raceland will face next regular season

How do you return a 4 year starter?

Greenup took a major step back this week. Losing HC Chris Mullins and supposedly several of his staff, as he has taken the HC position at Lex Dunbar. Going to be tough to replace him, as he has been the foundation for the rebuilding of the GC program.

Wont be suprised to see them promote from with in. Any chance Armstrong gets a shot at HC? Would names like Evans, Dowdy, Grizzle or Francis be thrown into the mix from surrounding schools? Thoughts?

Some of those names are interesting...

I know that atleast two of those names have an almost absolute zero chance of happening. But anything could happen. I kind of expect them to hire an enterim from within though.

Grizzle would be a good/interesting hire. If I'm greenup I am contacting him to see if he is interested.

As a Raceland fan . I don't want to see grizzle going anywhere

Greenup county could be good this coming year

Grizzle would bring exciting offense and a lot of enthusiasm to the program. He is big part of Racelands offense. He is an Air Raid guy..would need good D coordinator but I think could be a great hire. Francis and Evans be good hires too.

No chance Scott leaves, i just made the comment to further conversation. Many people would be suprised to see what a Scott Grizzle controlled offense would look like. Yes, the passing game would be more verticle, but still a run first offense. Another thing, one thing all good QBs do is read a defense, there arent many that know it, but Scott would make a great DC as well. Scott knows the game as well or better than any single coach in the area. Great guy and proud to call him my former QB, friend, and family. He has a pretty good deal goin on right now at Raceland, I dont see him making any changes any time soon.
I will say that I would be suprised to see anyone on the Russell staff, that has a teaching job as well, leaving the Red Devil Country either. Pay is too good for the most part.
I think they will hire from within.

Is the defensive coordinator going with him?

Wondered how long it would take me to eat crow on this one lol. I didnt expect them to be able to offer him a teaching position is why I felt so strongly that he would stay put. He will take a pay cut leaving the Detention Center, but will work less hours (only to work more as a HC). Either way Im super sad for Ram Nation, but will always support one of my best friends in the world, Scott Grizzle. I expect big things from him at Greenup. As long as the boosters and admins give him time. You guys are hard to coach for down there!lol

What does full schedule look like?

Boys seem to have totally bought in to coach grizzles high energy and high tempo. Lots of hard work going on in llyod.

Are these the new uniform options for Greenup this year? The bottom left helmet is sharp looking.

Greenup gets Racelands Jv coach and makes him head coach, Scott is young and will be a good coach some day but not at Greenup don't see him staying there very long
06-25-2016, 12:28 AM
Scott is way beyond his age in terms of game knowledge, leading the kids, etc. what worries me is the boosters, etc in Lloyd. Hard place to coach. It takes a special breed. I think Scott could do well there, I kind of agree to an extent, and its for that reason. Nothing to do with Scotts abilities.
06-25-2016, 12:44 AM
My post was about Greenup not about Scott
06-25-2016, 05:46 AM
I know. That was clear. Just adding my two cents as usual lol
06-25-2016, 07:20 AM
I know this is hard for you guys to understand, because you constantly bring it up. Yes parents ran tj off. That was 15 or so years ago.
They didnt runs Sammons off, or copley or mullins. Parents/boosters are not the same as 15+ years ago. How many years does it take for GC to stop getting talked about like its hell for a head coach? GC boosters and parents have been great.

Say what u want. Its not an easy head coaching job. Im not putting anyone down, it is what it is. Just stating facts. Ive heard it first hand from the coaches prior to Mullins. Maybe its a fluke thing, maybe not, but if there does seem to be a difference in the culture within the program since Mullins took over. Hopefully it continues under Scott. Regaurdless, it will take alot to convince me that its not a "walking on eggshells" coaching job, but Its not just football. Basketball, softball, and soccer are all the same. Baseball seems a little different. But thats for another forum.

Greenup County made an excellent decision hiring Mr. Grizzle. Scott is an great fit for a program who is my opinion a sleeping giant in the eastern ky football scene. I played college football with Scott at KCU a quality stand up man and a savy very knowledgeable football mind. It hurts me to say this but I wouldn't mine seeing the muskateers beat Russell just to embarrass to TJ Maynard. One thing that will change is Scott will for sure be the first coach to lead Greenup to a win at Russell. I wish him all the luck, it will good for the county to have all three teams competing at each other on the same level.

^^^agreed on all counts. Good football breeds good football.
