Did Rhodes get fired at Cordia?
#1
Rumor going around the gym tonight that Cordia had let Rhodes go? Any truth to this or just wishful thinking on everyone's part.
#2
It's complicated - but he has a job as far as I know
#3
Details please
#4
I don't want to get into details because I'm getting all my stuff secondhand.

Maybe some of the Cordia folks or Buford can chime in with specifics.

I can only say that everyone thought he was fired Tuesday morning, but it was chalked up to being a "misunderstanding" shortly after.
#5
No he is not fired him and the principal got in a argument over the way his coaching voucher from the board was filled out that's about it. Him and the team are on the way to Frankfort this morning to meet the governor and the legislators for winning the all A. It's water under the bridge.

I don't know anything about Rhodes but I do know that a Cordia player showed up at PCC today.
#8
The player is Ramon Mercardo who is better known as MoMo. He is now at PCC.

Best of luck with that. Circus!

We didn't ask for him Buford and I'm sure you are right. Our kids are happy being local but I was just passing on the info.

Is he eligible for the finals or is he going to have set out until region starts.
#12
Lol that was a good one. I also think it's funny that PCC people want to act like they wouldn't take a recruit if they could find one better than the players they have. Like Tobler, Johnson, & Paige just happened to show up there on their own. Get off the high horse and be real.

I guess Perry finally won the Cordia lottery.

Hazard got Hudson, Knott got Combs and now Perry has Mercado.

Also - I don't know if this applies since it has been a while... but Cordia players transferring was touched on in the KHSAA's press release on their sanctions

Quote: Included in this penalty is a stipulation that representatives of the boys’ basketball team with eligibility remaining may transfer to specific KHSAA member schools without penalty

Just got word that Rod would be replacing Pitino at UofL at the end of the season.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if he played this year.

I know you didn't ask for him or the acrobats, clowns, and dancing bears that come with him just saying I woul be shocked if he made it until the end of the year at perry I don't think he will ever play a game there but trust me everyone at cordia wishes him the best of luck at where ever he ends up.

Knott got Combs back. He's an Emmalena kid.
#19
Looks like the free agency period has begun in the 14th!

I truly appreciate that laugh. Nothing surprises me anymore good fellow. With Frazier playing at two schools this year why not!
#21
Combs is not an Emmalena kid. He lives on Big Fork, about one half mile from Cordia School. He attended Emmalena one year after hiring problems at the school. He went to Knott because his family felt this was the best choice for him. His parents teach at Cordia. I'm sure Austin feels like a PAtriot now, but he had many years at Cordia and played both varsity basketball and baseball. He probably wasn't "stolen" by Knott Central, but I'm sure he was recruited in some fashion and his family certainly did not move. My only concern was that he was a valuable member of the baseball team. His concern was basketball....doesn't even play baseball at Knott.

Things did happen between Principal Mullins and Coach Rhodes. However, there are procedures that have to be followed. I can assure you that Lotts Creek was ready to explode the night this happened. No secrets about it. We're pretty peaceful bunch out in the hollow, but there are some things you don't mess with. We will see where this leads. I think it will all be swept under the rug. The other side of the county doesn't want that kind of attention right now.
#23
From what I've seen the past 2 years Rhodes doesn't even coach the kids......He just sits in his seat and very rarely shows any emotion or even gets up.

Why?
#25
All I can say is you have never been to a Cordia ballgame if you think Coach Rhodes doesn't show any emotion. Some games, he does not sit most of the game. And of course there are also those games when the refs say "you'd better stay in your seat". Sometimes even that doesn't work.
#26
That may have been what happened at HC...I don't know. But he never got up from the bench one time, or said a word to his kids until time outs.
#27
This happened the last game of the season playing Rowan co at the old Hindman gym also. That is now cordia's "home gym". No yelling at the refs or kids. Finally after a bad call by Brian Cook, he was up . Bam Bam Two t's and he's out of there. Now he as to. Start next year sitting out. Since Cordia has no post season sitting with your arms crossed might have been a good thing
#28
What Brian Cook made a bad call. He is a joke of a ref. He try to put a show on when he ref a game. He thinks that people are there to watch him.
#29
Lol

Rhodes was at KBA this weekend watching Knott Co. 8th grade play in the Gatorade Classic
, dont know that his presence means anything,,,just sayin'
