No excuses here. You know what the officiating is going to be like when you go on the road in the 13th region, particularly with certain refs and certain places. You have to play above that. Got to improve defensively to win. One fact, Farmer has been sick. Hope Sexton recovers soon. He is a fine kid and big part of this team. Lots of basketball still to play. No trophies handed out to anyone yet. Circle the wagons and get to work.

South wins by 18 in Knott County
South wins by 19 at home
NOBODY GOT CHEATED SOUTH is JUST A 20 POINT BETTER TEAM
but it does feel good that somebody else besides Corbin is accused of home cooking. If Sexton is out for the season then Clay is in trouble, he seems to me to be the glue that was holding all those egos together. As far as talent on the floor last night Griffith was the most impressive.

Smith isn't getting any of the contact calls he did a year ago. That's where the frustration comes from. Technically, he is bumped every time he goes to the rim. Now, some of you all are a lot older than me and will note that with his talent he has to accept that. I will say that Will Sexton going out of that game changed everything. However, Clay County was still battling early in the 3rd quarter and was trying to grab momentum but a few things kept it from happening. The Smith breakaway where he was bumped at about NBA range on the side of his basket with no call would've either extended or gave them the lead, no call on the dunk that would've cancelled out Griffith's as far as "hype", and after Smith hit the 3 to cut it to 5 he was open again and a teammate went for a fadeaway with I'm about 90% sure 3 defenders on him. South is the better team but those little things have to go the Tigers way to compete in that game. They have to have those breakaways and contact calls, like all teams without the size to match the Cardinals. Think college March Madness.
I'm not one to say that was the worst officiating ever but it did lean one way. My biggest complaint is that on Taylor's last foul, did they seriously call that on Anders? Was he even near the play? I'm talking near as in 5 feet.

Whoever thought Griffth was the most talent on the floor is blind, he couldnt do anything on Smith, Smith blocked at least 3 of his shots, he couldnt go around him, and couldn't shoot over him, he had 7 pts on Smith, and 2 of those was a put back. Problem is Smith cant guard all 5 starters. So South will have a miss match anytime Miller isnt on floor. Ill say this about Taylors fouls, he will not get away with the stuff he is outside of the 13 th especially the over the back stuff and blocking down.

I got a pic if i can figure out how to post it. oh and taylor has fouled out of 1 game all year. he has had 4 on 6 occasions
01-15-2016, 08:30 PM
Yes 2 of his 7, i said he scored 7, he also ate 3, airballed a three. He was 2 of 7 with smith on him. Stats dont lie. Like i said, Smith needs to guard him, grubb, and be help side on Taylor and thats not possible.

Actually Taylor plays 10 times better with officials out of the 13th region. They actually know how to call a game that involves a big man, and don't call the garbage over the backs where kids go flying into him on rebounds, or he reaches over a kid a foot shorter for a rebound. Or the kids (Smith ect.) that drive the lane out of control, into his chest with his hands up, and expect a foul to be called. If I'm not mistaken, the 11th region refs are doing the 13th region tournament. If that's the case, the rest of the 13th is screwed. They actually know how to ref big guys and athletes because they see them almost every night. So unless the 14th or 15th region refs get to call the 13th region tournament, it is huge advantage South.

Griffith has owned Clay County last 3 times he has played them 21 points 11 rebounds last year in the regional, 22 points in the wymt classic, I think he had 24 last night. I don't think Clay County has anybody with the size and athletic ability combined to stop him, to big to atheletic:eyeroll:

How would South know how region officials call the games anyway........It's been quite a while since South has played a regional game at the arena. I hope all that pressure inside that big arena doesn't get them rattled.......Now with Clay our boys are use to it and will be fine come regional time (If they are at full strength)

hate hearing about players gettin hurt. Love sextons work ethic, kid seems tough as nails. I'm sure he will bounce back stronger. I also love smiths game. But if u say anyone is the best player other than smith, watch out for arrow! Just face it, south is better team right now. but they don't hand trophies out in January. I'm interested in seeing how clay bounces back after losses and injuries.

Because South has played a ton of out of region teams this year. I wouldn't worry about South feeling the pressure in the region tournament, I would worry about your Tigers that got beat down in the region last year, by a team that yourself and every other Clay fan had said was overrated and hadn't played anyone. Oh yeah, the one player that dismantled Clay last year, is now with South. Lol. Pressure is all on Clay.

Most important number is 0 and 2.

Actually the most important number for any 13th region team is 3-0, as in the 3 wins at the Arena that will take them to Rupp.

You have to realize how much more he's attacking the rim this year. Last year he pulled up often, which he should probably do more of cause it's unguardable. You'll most likely say it's out of control though.

Plus they could beat Redbird by 40

South is a big mountain for Clay to climb. If Farmer doesn't go off South wins.
