I agree but would have Belfry above South Warren when they couldn't even win 3A with basically the same team last year.

Your sandbagging Pike County. Pikeville is better than Mayfield and possible Lexington Catholic this year and Belfry is above South Warren and Lafayette.

Hard to argue with SW's perfect season. Would be a great matchup. I put Pikeville below Mayfield so I wouldn't have to argue with 55 until football starts back again. Those 2 would be a great matchup as well.

Pineville would beat em like a drum.

Pikeville would smash LexCath imo.

Personally, I think Lafayette and Belfry would be a heckuva matchup and the most trouble I had when creating my list was determine who was the better team between the Generals and the Purples.

But that's just me, and I don't claim to know who can play and who can't.

However, the only game I was wrong on was the Beechwood v. Pikeville game, and I'm glad I was.
#14
3-5 are so close Belfry beating SW or Lafayette wouldn't be much of an upset if an upset at all. BG would be a slight upset but it wouldn't be like people couldn't believe it. Male ain't happening for anyone on the list.
#15
I think Pikeville looked better than Mayfield in the state game but I don't think Pikeville would have beaten OB Catholic and Desales in back to back weeks to get to the finals..Mayfield had a much tougher road and looked better getting there.. I think every team looked better than Lex Carholic, but, knocking of Central and E;Town getting there wasn't an easy road,so, you know they were better than what they showed in that game, Belfry was just on another level, got up and poured it on.. JC also looked very mediocre, but, SWs defense made a lot of teams look very average this year..

I find it funny how when we were in 1a these guys wanted us out and 2a folks were chattering that we couldn't dominate 2a like we did 1a. Now the first year that we are out of 1a and win the 2a titles, we have the teams that we beat along the way saying they were better than us and we have the people from the east telling how the new 1a state champ is better than us. I guess it don't really matter because there is a new gold trophy in the case at MHS, and it's number 12 and the 4th in a row. Until these teams actually beat us, that sounds crazy.

Hard to argue with that first four. I was about to go with the same Top 4 until I saw this. South Warren, Belfry and BG almost too close to call.

I think I'd keep Lafayette 5, then:

6. Pulaski
7. Johnson Central
8. LexCath/Mayfield (flip a coin)
10-12. Same as above

Belfrys top quality wins :
Knoxville Catholic 38-14 won TN 4A state
Lexington Catholic 43-0 3A runner up
Johnson central 41-0 4A state runner up. Belfry actually improved since this game and that's scary.

Bowling green top 3 quality wins:
Pulaski county 21-7 5A runner up
Owensboro twice (41-12 & 17-14)

South Warren top 3 quality wins:
Central Hardin 24-3 semifinal 6A Imo most overrated team in ky regardless of class.
Shelby county 36-6
Johnson central 36-6

Imo not only would belfry hold their own against south Warren and bowling green, but it would be by 6 points or more.

I would rank Belfry over South Warren and Pikeville above Johnson Central and Lex Cath. Panthers can handle both of those teams currently! Pikeville should end up in Top 5 of this years state final teams and this is NOT coming from a Pikeville fan! Lol.

So who would out them ahead of?

Would they be ahead of:

Male
South Warren
Belfry
Bowling Green
Mayfield
Pulaski
Lafayette

Ahead of Mayfield. I get that the NCC defense was pretty good, but I saw nothing (albeit on video, not in person) during that game that would lead me to believe Mayfield was THAT much better especially offensively. If it were me, they would be at 5 and Mayfield at 6.

Pikeville, Mayfield, belfry, south Warren, bowling green, and male are all number 1 in there class, and nothing else matters.

IF, the state was still only four classes, who would win?

Mayfield, Belfry, South Warren, and Male?

Male over Pulaski, BG, Lafayette in 4A
South Warren over Lex Cath, and JC in 3A
Belfry over NCC in 2A
Mayfield over Pikeville, Beechwood in 1A?

Not sure how the alignment numbers would look now, but I would have to think they would be close to this.

And there is still arguments for four classes SMH.
