The Spartans were the best team in 4A all year. They are senior heavy and that should give Johnson Central and other 4A schools a shot next year. Great seasons for both teams.

South Warren has been working toward at this for 3 years now. Last year they were the team I feared the most in 3A because that defense was nasty. Just like it was this year.

JC will get their title before the next realignment. This loss helps Matney and company see where they need work.

And thanks to all the Johnson Central seniors for everything you've done and for taking the program to the finals for the first time ever. When you remember sitting through 0-10 and 1-9 seasons, seeing the black and gold still on that field in December is something you never think would happen...until it did. I hope and believe it won't be the last time.

Congratulations to SW on the title win. That defense is for real and their offense is quite good as well - especially passing the ball. Great group of kids and a great young coach. Congratulations to Johnson Central on a heck of a season. JC has made remarkable strides in recent years. You look at the elite programs like Trinity, Bowling Green, Highlands, they all had bumps in the road like this before reaching their level of success. I feel confident about JC's ability to have multiple opportunities to win state titles these next few seasons. The senior class and coaches should be tremendously proud for the groundwork that they have laid, achieving something that many great JC teams didn't. The young guys should be ready to hit the iron starting this week and pumped to take JC to the next level these coming seasons!

JC hits the weights as hard as anyone in Kentucky. I would bet when it comes to weight lifting numbers JC probably would have dominated SW.

The difference in this game was speed and athleticism.

Bench press and dead lift doesn't matter if they are already past you before you can put your hands and pads on them.

I think this is the next step in JC's evolution. I think JC will be in BG frequently with this new alignment, when they get there most likely it will be South Warren, John Hardin, or Collins waiting.

JC needs to improve their team speed and overall athleticism across the board. I have no doubt they will do just that once they identify ways to do it.

Like EKUAlum said, JC is no stranger to the weight room but their overall team speed was definitely their weak spot all year. They have some speedy guys but as a whole unit they were just slower and less athletic than South Warren.

My thoughts from last night.

- Granny Bear is a great sidekick to watch a football game with
- JC fans showed up. Not sure on the exact number of fans we brought, but having to play the late game on a Sunday evening, we had a great turnout.
- The KHSAA really needs to do some soul searching when it comes to the price of their souvenirs..... $22.00 for a screen-printed T-Shirt is a joke.
- Johnson County to Bowling Green is a LONG trip.
- Every Belfry fan that saw me with my Black & Gold said "Bring it home" or "Good Luck JC".
- The WKU ticket office personnel might be the most hateful women I've ever dealt with.
- The White Hat was a JOKE!!!!! He called South Warren 'Warren Central', he gave the wrong hand signals several times for penalties. The overall refereeing wasn't bad. Getting to referee the state finals is a reward.... state championship contest deserves state championship level referee's..... THAT AT LEAST KNOW WHAT TEAMS ARE PLAYING.


Now to the game...

- South Warren was the better team. Their passing game might be the best passing team JC has faced not named Highlands or Cov. Cath.
- JC had 5 turnovers, 3 INT's and 2 Fumbles.... 2 fumbles that SW scooped and scored on.
- JC's defense had the best 4 down series I can ever remember. 4 goal line stands from the 1 yd. line.
- SW had some great athletes. Their overall team speed was the difference. Not strength, but overall team speed.
- It was great to see JC get one rushing TD in the state finals.
- JC will be back to Bowling Green. The Sophomore class and in coming 8th grade class have won 4 state Middle School championships between them.

It was great to see our team in the state finals. The outcome wasn't what we wanted, but the experience and breaking down the wall of making it to the finals are now behind us. It didn't look like our players were shell shocked by the atmosphere. SW was just the better team and their team speed kept our running game from moving the ball.

Boys, you've been to the Big Show now. You know what you need to work on for next season. Your hard work in the off-season is what got you there..... now you know what you need to work on to get back to the state finals. No doubt we have the talent, work ethic and coaches to get us back to playing in December next year.
