Corbin @ Belfry State Semifinal 11/27
I know Belfry is good folks but if anybody from belfry think this is going to be a high scoring game for belfry is thinking outside the line. Corbin in a shocker!!! :poker face: and I lost my :moon::moon::moon: at Belterra Casino this week.

Corbin 28
Belfry 21
pjdoug Wrote:I would never recant my statement. You played against one good West Virginia team. Mayfield and Danville can play with any of the rest of them. Why be nice on Sunday? :dudecomeon:

Mayfield and Danville can probably play with Pikeville and Newport Central Catholic. But Johnson Central and Knoxville Catholic would put a runnin clock on em just like Belfry would. And as far as Cabell Midland there is only about two or three schools in the state of KY that can play with them.
Nobody puts a running clock on Mayfield.
mysonis55 Wrote:Nobody puts a running clock on Mayfield.

You saying no team in the entire state of Ky could put a running clock on Mayfield? :thatsfunn I'm not even that much of a Belfry homer to say that.
Belfry's schedule was tougher than ours. The difference was the out of state teams. As far as the in state teams go I believe they're very comparable. Mayfield, Danville, southwestern, and Knox are in the same class as Newport catholic, pikeville, Johnson central etc. Corbin has in large part benefitted from a much weaker region. The 3 seed in our district beat the 1 seed in the other district the first game of the year. IMHO if Corbin and belfry play ten times belfry probably wins 9.5. But there is still a chance. About the same chance central had at beating Corbin last year. I'll root for the hounds no matter who they're playing. With that said my prediction is.

Corbin-31
Belfry-28 in double overtime.
Anything can happen on a Friday night. Corbin could come into CAM and dominate Belfry. Either team could win in a dog fight or much like Russell the last 2 years Corbin could roll into Belfry promising "All you can handle" only to be dominated and embarrassed and sent home with their tails between their legs.

While I really really want to see Corbin sent home wondering what happened just because I have been hearing for two years now "Belfry better be glad we're in the west and just wait now that we're in the east." However, while my spiteful side wants to see a running clock I don't expect it. Corbin keeps it a game for three quarters before Belfry pulls away to win by two TDs
Going to stick with belfry and say thy win by 2 touchdowns. Idk who it was doing all the jawing about Boyle county beating belfry but I think they got butt hurt and shut up since they was so far from being right.
As I've said before, I bleed Corbin red but the truth is the truth. If both teams bring their best game, Belfry wins by 30. But, there is a reason we strap the pads on, and the Hounds have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. I just hope they go up there and leave it all on the field. The score will take care of itself.
I learned several years ago to not make predictions in these threads because any team can be beat on a given night. I still do not make predictions since. It was when the Fugate lead Breathitt team came to CAM and upset the Pirates in the semifinals. Belfry was the heavy favorite and got beat in a down to the wire game. I will not eat crow again, terrible taste.
Belfry 42 Corbin 7 if they're lucky enough to score!!
Hahahaha

talking out your a$$ like all you arrogant pirates do. Danville and Mayfield would compete with if not beat Johnson Central. Knoxville Central is sitting home after Greeneville spanked them.

You would keep 55 people busy correcting your posts. Go back and read your last post and the post that you quoted and see if you can find your error.

You are too arrogant and delusional to have a decent thread.

Speaking of talking out your butt...

You do realize Knoxville Catholic beat Greeneville Friday 35-21?

Haha

I got Belfry, 42-0 over Corbin, running clock about 3 minutes into the 3rd quarter...
At least the RIUTG side of pjdoug talks some actual football. Doug is the only poster on BGR that has NEVER had an actual game analysis quote recorded so for that we present him a...:1: ridiculous.
IMO Corbin is 2 years away from being really really good. But their extra talented freshman class needs help from somewhere. Landing some transfer, or something... I don't know. I really can't judge Corbin's junior and sophomore class, but the freshman seemed destined for greatness. The thing is I have heard they were down in middle school this year. While you take Belfry who pumps out middle school championship after championship. Louisville Central you have no idea cause they have an entire city (or 3) to pump talent out of. They will ALWAYS be good. Catholic could be near the same way, but I hate how those guys seem to be able to just go to 3A or 4A at will, like Boyle. I still wish there was some system where guys like that are in here could really make the class system truly reflective of talent. Take Mayfield, 1A powerhouse is right on par with every 3A team, and better than all but the top tier 4A. Teams like McCreary Central (if you've even heard of them) have no business in 3A, despite their enrollment. Teams like McCreary Metcalfe Clinton, etc..They just get their brains beat in every night. A lot of that is probably administration that simply don't care as well. Ah, no way to be all liberal super fair guy I don't guess. I do think there could be SOME improving though.

The freshman class will have help. This years senior class is actually the weakest class in Corbin's system right now. The junior, sophomore, and freshmen classes are all pretty good. This 8th grade class is a lot like this years senior class was in 8th grade. Rumor has it that a lot of kids who didn't play last year are gonna come back out as freshmen next year. The 7th grade team was imho the runners up to the 7th grade state championship. They went to Pulaski county and played them within 2 points. Pulaski was not challenged by anyone the rest of the year. Barring something unforeseen Corbin and belfry will meet in the kymsfa d-2 playoffs next year. This has the makings of a GREAT rivalry. I agree belfry will most likely win Friday, it may not even be close. But I'll pull for my hounds no matter who they play. I know that just like Corbin the strength of belfry is in their junior class. but next year the Pirates come to Corbin which will even things out a bit. I look forward to coming to pond creek Friday, and no matter how it goes I'll be pulling for the winner of this game in bowling green next week. The more trophies we can bring back to the mountains the better. Good luck to both teams I pray there are no injuries and I know that it'll be a good clean hard hitting game.
EKUAlum05 Wrote:One thing I do know is Corbin will not roll over and all this "let down after an emotional high" is hilarious.

This is the State Semis and you are playing one of the best programs in KY with a shot at the State Finals. I fully expect Corbin to bring their A+ game.

Have to respect the history of both proud programs and communities.
That stuff happens all the time at every level in ever sport, it's hard (for kids especially) to get up for 2 HUGE, physical games in a row like that and it's even harder for a young inexperienced team to do it.
COACHITALL Wrote:Belfry 42-7 and that's probably giving Corbin 7 too many. Too much size, speed, depth, experience! If it's cold Friday save your hot chocolate for the ride back home when you leave at halftime, I hear hot chocolate and left over turkey goes good together

Dam!! Guess we should just stay in Corbin instead of driving 4 hours to the place H ELL forgot!! Let's just give Belfry, WV a free ticket to BG.

Games are played for a reason. This will be a task for the hounds but if they are up to the task it could be interesting.:redboxer:

Belfry and Mayfield opperate like a private school. They get talent from all over their area. I'm not sure about some of the other top 5 3a schools. I just know that Russell gets very few out of district players. They have to go with what they have.
Hey Raider Maniac I haven't heard from you on this one. Do you know anything about Corbins conssesion stand. I know you know all about Belfrys. If both brought their A game which consession stand would advance to the semi finals?
