I know that teacehers should be held to a higher standard then say an athlete, but if nothing illegal was done, why is he in trouble??
i didnt read the article, how old was he?
Doesn't matter how old he is. He is a teacher. He is hired to teach and protect OUR children while in HIS care. He is not supposed to be there to check out who's hot and who's not and then sleep with them. Most schools have RULES that teachers are not to have relations with students. It is wrong. School should be a safe place to go and learn and not have to worry about teachers lusting after our children. That makes me ill.

I will not support any teacher having sex with students. This is wrong and we know it! Does it break the law? No, and that is sad. This is an area that needs to be addressed and laws need to be changed to stop this type of activity.

Tribe, I Think That Your Post Should Be Read By Every Student In Public School. I Hope That You Appreciate Whoever Helped Give You The Strong Morals And Code Of Ethics That You Have. Unfortunately Teachers Dating Or Having Sex With Students Is Becomming More Frequent In Our Society. Teachers, Of All People, Should Realize The Damage That Could Be Caused By Having Intimate Contact With Their Students. Just Due To The Fact That Young People Spend So Much Time With Their Teachers, Some Of The Teachers Exert As Much Influence On Them As Their Parents. What Kind Of Message That A Supposed "Adult", Male Or Female, Is Being Sent To These Students When They Start Having Intimate Contact With Them. I Don't Care What Kind Of Excuse That These People Come Up With This Is Just Not RIGHT. Any Teacher Involved In This Type Of Activity Should Have Their Certificate Revolked And Listed As A Sexual Predator. :boo:

thetribe Wrote:Well, I will be the first female to react that is around the age of the students. I am a 18 year old high school senior so here is my view on it. Stuff like this happens daily. I mean not just around here but in all parts of the world. Students develop crushes on their teachers, they is just something to draws people to them. They are older, smarter, some are good looking, and you are around them 5 days a week so crushes can develop. Is it right? No, but it does happen. No teacher should react upon a student flirting. A teacher and I were talking the other day about how we could see how a teacher could like a student, it is someone that you are around at least an hour every day 5 days a week BUT even if a teacher does develop feelings for a student they should in no way be acted upon. Now, when a student gets out of high school and something happens with a previous teacher, then there is nothing that the school board, parents, or state can really do about it. I am 18 myself and I don't even claim that my parents have no control over some of my decisions. As long as I am living at home they can control alot of things. Back on topic, kids are having sex at very young ages now. I can proudly say that I was not one of them. It actually sickens me to know what people do now. I grew up in the generation that girls lost their virginity in 7th grade or so and boys too. It is hard to explain but I always considered myself in a more mature mindset than that on my peers. They were always "in love" with a new person every week and I was NEVER like that. Call me a liar if you want but I never sat around and doodled my name and theirs and I love so and so and Lindsay loves blah blah blah, that wasn't who I was. I understood that I was not old enough to know what that kind of love is. Kids are easily influenced and even though 17 isn't as young as say 12, poor judgement and bad decisions are made. Hell, I was there VERY recently, I've done things that I regret and would do some stuff over given the chance but never would I allow myself to let something like this situation happen. I have a better understanding of morale and self respect than this...As i have said to you before your maturity is awesome
Nice post Tribe
the facts are there, a person who takes advantage of someone due to influence as a teacher is sick, those individuals need to be removed the very moment that an event like this takes place. With them losing their certification.
Teachers/Priest have certain standards to uphold, this man has no morals.

BCF4L Wrote:Actually I have a little boy. Thing is no parent is going to be able to control their kids on a 24 hr basis. Whether you tell your kid not to do something or not they are still going to do it. I know this cuz I'm only 20 and we do stuff no matter what our parents say. If the girls agreed to have sex with this teacher then the teacher done the same thing that majority of the guys here on earth would do.
We can't keep an eye on our kids 24/7...that is correct!!! But we should not have to worry about someone that we have to leave our kids with, when they are at the most vulnerable times of their lives. Teachers are supposed to be better than that.

I don't care how anyone else feels about it if I'm the parent no one else gets to decide but me and for that matter I would just handle it myself.

And this isn't anything new I know of some teacher relationships that happened while I was in school and for that matter one that didn't take place at my school but the teacher involved is there now.

Thanks Randall and Doc.

Even sadder, things like this have been going on forever - the difference is that girls and guys are braver today than they used to be and don't care to "share" their stories - there is not much of a sense of consequence as far as I can see; so neither party sees the harm when they are both consenting. Something should be done to prevent these relationships or at least deter them.
