Belfry pulled on out in overtime tonight. Matt Maynard (Belfry) and Leslie (Prestonburg) both had 27. Case and May (Belfry) had 17.

Congrats Belfry

Sounds like the rivalry from the grid-iron keeps on clicking on the hardwood. Must have been a very exciting game to watch.

Lewis Barnette hit a basket with seconds to go in the end of OT. I know I was one of many Pburg fans who thought the basket was a 3 point, but oh well.. nothing can change it now.

congrats pirates, great win

Wow 2 games and 11 quarters of basketball for Prestonsburg. I'm sure they are wearing down physically. Great job though.

This was a great ball game, congrats to Belpry. Ref. Mike Hall should surrender his strips before he does anymore damage to the 15th region. He is pitiful, worst I have ever seen. He made so many stupid calls against both teams it was embarrassing. He is not qualified to officiate grade school. He needs to contact the local TV station in Pburg and purchase a replay of this game and watch it, then he will see what kind of official he is. This not meant to take anything away from the Pirates, the did what they needed to do to win. And Pburg missed 10 free throws in the 4th q. So, that was the story IMO

This was a GREAT game! It almost went into double overtime.
Congrats Pirates!!:wenumber1

Nice bounce back game Pirates CONGRATS.

Let me get this straight, Lewis Barnette took the game winning shot and everyone thought it was a three to win but it was a two and they lost !!! And then Ball GAME !!! well anyways congrats Pirates and maybe will see you in Region ! Great job by Sean Leslie with 27pts !

The kid was on the line, and it seemed he was the only Blackcat that realized it.
Real tough break, it was a clutch shot none the less.

I totally agree. He is one of the reasons good refs get a bad name.

Honestly, the only reason Prestonsburg fans thought it was a three is because he was on the opposite end of the court from where they were sitting.
It really wasn't close to being one, both feet were on the line with one being almost completely across it.

I beg to differ with you, I was on the end where the shot was taken. Here is what I saw, Barnett looked down at his feet and took a dribble back and then took the shot. It appeared to me that both feet were outside the line, in fact I thought the ref. said the shot was after the horn, not that is was a two. The game is on video and I am watching it now. It will tell the story, in fact I hope it was a two because I would hate to thing that the ref. determined another outcome. Once I review the video I will post.

i was pretty sure that it was a three and i'm sure that he did too because he was the one that shot it and i'm sure that he knew where his feet were every 3 point shooter knows where the line is and i know it was a three but again like i've said in the past posts prestonsburg has had that same referee since the beginning of the season basically and i'm getting tired of his poor officiating i mean one or two bad calls
02-25-2006, 01:58 AM
Horrible called game... Maynard pushed off the entire night and it was only called once... but Prestonsburg let the game get away from them in the 4th when they had a 12 point lead... I truely think Pburg is a better team than Belfry.. and I'm not just saying that because I'm from Pburg... Good Luck to both teams in District play

Do you want me to go ahead and tell you what you will see?
He was on the line, by far, and he knew it. Thats why when all the other Prestonsburg kids were screaming "praise Jesus", he was on his hands and knees sobbing because he wasn't behind the line.
BTW.....There wasn't a Prestonburg fan one in that corner of the court. Nice try though.

Listen my friend, you dont know what you are talking about, I did not say I was in that corner did I, I also did not say I was a Pburg fan, did I, Maybe I was upstairs, I said I was on the end of the court not on the corner. What do you mean by nice try? I think you are concerned with what the video might show. Dont worry I will let you know, if you can stand the truth.

Actually guys....I just got home from talking to Lewis Barnette and I said tell me was your foot on the line...He said yes it was barley on the line so I think the shooter should know if it was on the line or not....So the ref did make the right call....but honestly it shoudlnt of even been close...with 5 minutes and 12 seconds to go in the 4th quarter Pburg had a 12 point lead 64 52......with 42 seconds to go the score was Pburg 66 Belfry 64.....so you tell me who lost the game......Belfry started pressing and pburg couldnt do anything.....So thats my story of the game and everyone Matt Maynard isnt as good as everyone puts him out to be....
02-25-2006, 02:19 AM
No doubt, Pburg lost this game at the free throw stripe. They missed 10 fts in the 4th quarter. I still will review the video, I agree that Louis should know where his feet were, but he was looking at the goal when he shot the ball. It does not really matter, I hope he was on the line. I do want to see the refs position and where he was looking.
02-25-2006, 02:24 AM
Great game by both teams..

I agree 15th, Prestonsburg is a much better team than Belfry. I think the past few games has taken a toll on the players. I thought the refs were fine, they didn't do the greatest job, but your not going to find any better in the 15th. No excuses for Prestonsburg, they couldn't make there free throws down the stretch, and I think Coach Crisp made a few defensive coaching mistakes. Prestonsburg needs to rest up this weekend and be ready for SF come next week.

In response to football05.....you wouldn't think so by watching him tonight.
But that was by far the worst game he has had all year.
BTW.....He did have about 15 of Belfry's last 20 points. So, on a bad game he has 27. I'll take the good with the bad in this case.

I just loved the call when Mike Stepehens was knocked down and the ball was called out of bounds, it doesn't get much better than that.
Lewis told me after the game that Sean had told him his feet where on the line.
The local TV station was there an they re-wound it back an said his feet where on the line an the ref was actually pointing down at it, so i'm not going to argue with that call.
Lets just keep thinking about SF.

I love the optimistic view P'Burg fans have on their sporst program.
Good luck with football next year, too.

Prestonsburg Defense SUCKED in the 4th quarter. They were playing to not lose, rather then to win. Matt Maynard, wouldn't let Belfry lose.
I'd say though that Prestonsburg is getting a little run down, that may have been why they looked so sluggish the 4th. But regardless, Prestonsburg gave this one away.

I expect them to win, they are a better team than Belfry, and like Gish said Prestonsburg gave it away.
