Did anyone ever truly doubt Pikeville .....

Pikeville opened there play book. QB is dangerous and takes the load off Pugh.

Panthers laying the wood tonight

I agree. If Pikeville can keep that Balance they will be hard to beat.

Pikeville was the better team but i will say Ratliff for Hazard is one tough player.

I like the way the Panthers Coaching staff opened it up tonight. Chattlin Jarrell got more touches, and it payed off. Cody Charles, Blake Charles, and Clay Slone were used more in the equation with better results. QB Wyatt Battaile ran the ball very effectively, and did a great job passing the ball tonight. Hazards' got a better team than most thought.....including me. These two meet in the playoffs, look out! Imo, that will be a better game than this one.

I hope to see it or listen to it. Pikeville was clearly the better team but Hazard played with them for 3 quarters. I think if Hazard ties the game then the momentum shifts and it could of been a different out come. The 4th and inches the Hazard player didn't appear to get it anyways then fumbled it. But lots of Penalties I just couldn't comprehend. Usually on unsportsmanlike like Penalties it gives you a first down. Refs seemed lost tonight in my opinion.

If these two meet again, I hope this bunch don't call the game. Must have been drunk on peach wine.

I'm glad in the playoffs they assign refs from different regions.

Hats off to Hazard. Some nice players. Congrats to the Panthers!
Having said that, even in a win, that was THE singular worst reffed game I have ever seen at the high school level. Those guys shouldn't be allowed to call a pee wee game, much less a district HS game. I rarely, if ever, rag hard on the refs and mean it, but tht bunch did everything in their power to give Hazard a chance to stay in the game. If they call it fair both ways, Pikeville has a running clock in the 3rd qtr.

15 penalties called on Pikeville in this game, pretty much all of them after Pikeville went up 28-6.
nicker:
Panthers got about 550 yards on offense and Hazard never stopped them.
Really like how Ratliff played at QB for Hazard. Battaile was just great and is a game-changer IMO. Probably see these two again at Pikeville.:Cheerlead

I won't disagree on the Officials cause some calls were terrible. But I will disagree on the running clock. Now they where clearly better but not running clock better. I think Hazard forced 1 punt.

Yes, they forced it after Pikeville got a turnover up 28-6 and then had 4 or 5 consecutive penalties called...

Don't know if Hazard really showed all of their playbook tonight. They almost exclusively relied on Ratliff and Smith. Probably can count on them having some new wrinkles in their offense if these teams meet again.

Congrats Pikeville. I think Pikeville+Paintsville are on a collision course with each other. Both teams way better than the 1st game. Would be interesting. How bad did Hazards QB going to Ryle hurt them?

Apparently not too bad at all. This Ratliff kid can get it done.

I think Hazard forced 1 punt. The punt was after Pikeville was put in 1st and 35 (THIRTY FIVE!!!) and still almost pulled off another 1st down. Pikeville was running clock better tonight. No ifs, buts, or what's about it. Calling Unsportsmanlike because a Pikeville player tackles the QB and then verbally mocked his attempt at a hard count was the most laughable one. Like I said, they have some nice players (the QB and RB especially were ballers) and a very solid O line overall, but Coach Mac could have had JV in there first part of the 3rd if those refs didn't have rabbit ears. I was tempted to go borrow that guys megaphone on the Hazard sideline and give the refs a hard time.

You are talking about the holding call when they mentioned an illegal man down field.. There was 2 holding calls.. But the call I want to know about is 3-10 to start the 3rd quarter that give Hazard a first down.

The one I want to know about is when Hazard was in punt formation and the refs called dead ball unsportsmanlike conduct on Pikeville and gave Hazard the first down. This was in the 2nd quarter with Pikeville up 28-6 right after their only punt which was brought about by multiple penalties...Hazard keeps the ball and scores before the half to get some momentum. From where I sat the refs intervened and turned a certain 35-6 lead at the half to 28-14...But Hazard will most likely have another shot and Pikeville better be ready if they do!

The late hit by Pikeville in the 1st half as the QB was going out of bounds, understandable. Couple of false starts and holdings, you betcha. Everyone makes those mistakes. But I guarandarntee you, Pikeville probably had as much penalty yardage as Hazard had total offense. I can't wait to see the stats on this one. I know this: Hazard run D is tough, but not near as tough as some posters led me to believe leading up to this game. Really happy to see some more playmakers begin to get shown. I would venture to say, in all seriousness, Pikeville coaches are finally starting to trust the QB a little more, which explains the gradual opening of the play book.
Prayers up for the injured tonight. I hope they have speedy recoveries.

As someone pointed out earlier...Just seemed a little odd to me that the flags don't start flying on Pikeville until the score is 28-6 and turning ugly early....Coach Mac and staff did a GREAT job keeping these boys focused despite of all that. Hazard has a good team and I wouldn't be surprised if we meet again.

Outside the long run by Pugh Hazard held him in check. But Vanderbeck, Jarrell, and Battle had excellent games.

NO ONE moved when the punter was in punt formation, and all of a sudden a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct on the Panthers. Just don't make sense. BAD officiating crew.

Pugh got his 4 TDs on gains from inside the 10. I am surprised to see only 1 toss sweep from Pikeville.

Unofficially, I think Pikeville was flagged for over 100 yds. Not sure of the exact total, but something like 116 ?

I do want to say that I give a big Shout out to Cade Fletcher for playing hard several weeks after a knee surgery. Also I think Isiah Stupart has a chance to get healthy for playoffs. Hazard also got a kid from New York but not sure if he will see any playing time. 6ft 3 and could make a good target in the red zone.
