#1
The 1996 State Champion Paintsville Tigers basketball team will be honored during half time of the Paintsville/Pike Central basketball game Friday night.
#2
Congrats to those men!!!!!!!! But, I thought it was senior night?
#3
It is, they are doing that before the varsity game and honoring the 1996 State Champs at half-time.

It's gonna be awesome to see guys like Todd Tackett and Josh McKenzie... I haven't seen them in forever... get to see Matt and J.R. everyday... did the school get in touch with the entire team so they all will be there???
#5
I am not sure who organized it, but I hope they did!!!
#6
I aint too thrilled in seeing Todd Tackett, but the rest of em hell yeah. Hey J, you better invite me to the "reception", lol, if you know what I mean...

Couldn't imagine why you wouldn't want to see Tackett. IMO he was the driving force behind Paintsville's success. When he went down against Scott Co. Paintsville was doomed. He was by far the best player on that particular Paintsville team, and in my opinion the best basketball talent that has ever played at Paintsville.

Paintsville of the present will not be attending rupp arena this year.. they dont have the want to win... they need to get better keep their heads in the game...

Tigers of 96... congratz

Hard to beleive its been 10 years since that fantastic team was assembled.

If he was the best player why didn't he get Mr. Basketball? There is a story behind PC's comment, just about everyone from Paintsville during that time knows about it.
#18
Is Matt Ratliff living in the Paintsville area right now?

If so, is he helping BMR coach?

Yes, he is an assistant coach for Paintsville.

If you don't know you don't need to know, it was 8 years ago when he and his father pulled that stunt. I'm not holding any grudges on the boy, but if he hadn't done it there is no doubt that another banner would be in PHS.
#23
Congrats to the '96 team! It hardly seems as though it's been a whole decade since then. I'm anxious about seeing that team all together again.

I know exactly what you are talking about, and it does not need mentioned on this site.Confusedhh:

I just hope that everyone that we tried to contact can make it. I know Mark Allen Grim is a police officer in Las Vegas, Eric Addington lives in Colorado, Devon Pack works in Chicago, and other people here around the state that have moved away. I just can't wait to see everyone!!!
#26
I have put that team in my heart, so maybe I won't have to be there tonight. I have always loved and admired those young men & appreciated what they earned for our school, our community, and Tigers everywhere of all ages! Thank you for everything, I'll always love you guys and you'll never age in my heart!

Maybe I am dumb for asking, but is this the real J.R. VanHoose?

If so, I just wanted to say hey man. Good to see you around the 15th helpin' out the young kids.

OMG this was awesome... seeing these guys for the first time in a long time was amazing... now everyone that comes into Paintsville fomr U.S. 23 will see the new sign... awesome night, big win, and congrats to the seniors... overall nice night for Paintsville Basketball
#29
congrats to these young men!!!!! I wonder if anybody heckled during the half time ceremony like one of the paintsville mommys did during johnson centrals hall of fame induction? I sure hope not but I guess what goes around, comes around.
#30
No heckling, but I didn't see an applause out of anyone from Pike Central. How big was that team, I thought they were pretty big when I was little, but they are still big today. I never knew how tall Mike Short actually was. He just looked small compared to the rest of the boys, he's probably about 6'1. Todd Tackett was a no show, some of the players are working in California according to Mr. Williams, is that him or is he still in the Lexington area?
