Boyd Co. @ #9 Lawrence Co. 8/21
#1
Who you got and why?
#3
We beat the brakes of the lions last season and I expect about the same this year!
#4
This game last year was very sloppy, much like the game against Sheldon Clark. Both games LC won by a fairly comfortable margin but they were sloppy. This game should be a running clock for LC if they come out and execute.LC would have to have ridiculous meltdown like the one last year against Raceland for the Lions to have any shot in this game.

Does Lawrence County actually expect to ever beat Belfry or do anything in the playoffs by scheduling teams like Boyd, Fairview, Montgomery,Powell, Greenup, and Raceland? Every year they have the softest schedule in the ADI coverage area but get butt stomped in the playoffs by Belfry. Evidently Coach Cecil wants regular season resume building wins instead of getting his teams ready for the playoffs.

Raceland has blown out Lawrence County a couple of times in the recent series between the two schools so I would consider Raceland to be a challenge for them. I realize that Raceland isn't on the same level as Belfry but I wouldn't consider them a soft opponent either.

The question is do the tomcats plan on beating johnson central playing rowen county, raceland, gw, russell, and that week district except for jc? I would have to say that ashland has the weekest schedule, but jc plays a lot of cupcakes too.

Rowan not Rowen.

Unless the bridge from wv to ky collapses everyone will get stomped by Belfry.

Ashlands schedule isn't weak. Russell GW Ironton Raceland and Lex Tates Creek are exactly cupcakes. Was at the LC Boyd game last year and both teams but especially LC looked sloppy.

I don't completely agree with our scheduling but are you serious? Of the teams you bring up two will give the almighty Tomcat's all they want this year and your in 4A so what's your excuse. Heck barring a few miracle plays last year Ashland gets beat by Raceland last season and they will give you all you want this season as will Greenup who we didn't play last or this season. And as far as the butt stomping you bring up with Belfry you are going to get the same from Johnson Central at some point this season so you guys have your hands full without worrying about what Lawrence County is doing! What are the big time powerhouse teams on Ashlands Schedule to get ready for JC this year?:moon:

Ashland hasn't exactly been world beaters themselves and honestly I don't think they could beat LC. I am also pretty certain Raceland, Fairview, Greenup ,Prestonsburg, and probably Pike Central would give the "powerhouse" Tomcats all they want and more. Please, tell us more about how Ashland has been lining up powerhouses to beat.

I don't think anyone should consider Raceland a cupcake team. They have been one of the top schools in this area for awhile now and they deserve a lot more respect than being called a"cupcake". Especially by an Ashland fan.
#14
Probably should wait and see how the teams look when they get pads on.

Go Dawgs!
#18
I'll take the Dawgs.
#19
And meanwhile back at the thread...

Lawrence County wins big here. My Lions have way too much to improve on from last season to make this respectable. The Dawgs are bigger and better than last year. Aside from questionable, not bad just questionable play calling they look to be much improved and solid team.

Guessing BC gets waxed in this game but 1st game anything can happen.

Yes anything can happen in the first game with high school kids, but I expect a quick dismantling and then I hope we don't schedule Boyd again until they get better.
#22
That'll be awhile. That entire program needs revamped from JFL E team all the way up. I will say they have made some improvements, but there is no reason for them to be this down for this long. But that's a subject for another thread.
#23
LC rolls by 24.
#24
This game want be a total blowout Lawrence wins tho.

Lawrence County 49
Boyd County 28

Dawg fever is running high in Lawrence County I can feel it here on BGR. :Cheerlead
#25
Fairview has also beat Lawrence in the past couple years. last year very close game and I expect the eagles to beat bulldogs this year. no cupcakes...greenup no push over either. certainly raceland is no cupcake
#26
Who does Boyd County have coming back? There should be good talent in the area.
#27
Aside from a couple young players, everything I saw last year that looked good graduated. I have no idea what they have, but I hope they do one off those miracle turnarounds that they make movies about.

I don't see this. Lawrence County is going to be more balanced this year. Our run game had problems last season. Timmy Dalton is back as a Junior and will not be stopped. Our QB is much improved and one of the better duel threat QB's in the area. Our lines IMO are going to be better this year and bigger. If things progress as planed I think by the Fairview game you will see a better Bulldog team then you saw last season.

Dalton did not attend either 7 on 7 and has been sporadic attending practice because of his summer basketball schedule. This will have an effect on the team both from a continuity standpoint and a player that is allowed to miss team activities without consequence while all other players are held to a set of of attendance rules. Right or wrong I have heard some players expressing their thoughts on this.

I agree but this has been going on since he was a freshman so how can coach stop it now. You also can't tell a kid he can't give attention to another sport either. Is Timmy the only kid on the football team who also plays basketball and why are they doing basketball stuff this long after the season?
