Looks like they are back to playing Phelps in the Bowl game.....Big difference between Phelps and Henry Clay.....lol......are we regressing or what?

I think that'll be a loss for PCC.

Still a big difference between Shelby Valley and Henry Clay or Somerset....don't you think?
04-11-2015, 12:36 AM
Somerset should be pretty good but the speed of Henry clay would be to much.

Shelby Valley is a great football team.
04-12-2015, 06:54 AM
I didn't mean any disrespect to Shelby Valley.....just questioning the choice of opponent for PCC. I never understood why the "committee" scheduled PCC and Henry Clay to play in the first place....

A good team, with the potential to take it to the next level and be very good.
A huuuuuuuuuge stretch to call them great.

Compared to most teams in the area? They rank in the top 5, if not 3.

Agreed. Also the game with PC should be a great one with overflow crowd.

That looks like a tough schedule to me. If there are any tougher one's in the area I would like to see them.

Shelby Valley was better than Somerset in 2014.
Considering that SV returns nearly everybody, one should expect that Valley will be better than Somerset in 2015 as well.

Do you have a count on what the all time series between PCC and SV? I would think at this point in history it is pretty balanced.

Pike Central will be replacing a lot of key players. A lot of talent has graduated this season and it'll be interesting to see what Coach Thacker does with the team moving forward.

My guess is 7-4 I understand they are young but the line isn't as bad as some expect we have mostly a returning defense and a heck of a running back I don't think they will be terrible depending on the coaching.

Before the 2013 season, they played almost every year going back to 1998 (as far as KHSAA lists stats).
My count has Pike Central with a 8-6 edge through 14 games. PC won 4 out of 5 from '98 to '02, then SV took 5 out of 6 from '03 to '09, then PC won 3 in a row from '10 to '12.
Like you said, pretty balanced, with PC holding a small edge.

I also am glad to see Pikeville finally agreeing to play Pike Central. Pikeville should also return the trip to Buckley's Creek next year. I also find it extremely ironic that Pikeville finally agrees to play the Hawks (to my knowledge the PC staff has been trying for years) the year that Pike Central loses everything and Pikeville will once again be a 1A power. I wonder why the Pikeville admin didn't wanna play the Hawks the last 4-5 years when Pike Central was dangerous enough to beat anyone in the mountains on any given night. Interesting.

If I am a betting man I still think it has more to do with who is the Head Coach at PC now versuses who was the Head Coach those other years. The former coach at PC did not have the best history with the Pikeville program, but the current coach came while in good grace.
Now with that said, it's not to say that Pikeville was oblivious to PC's success. Your talent pool overlaps each other and a loss would reflect worse on Pikeville's program 10X that of PC's... but to Pikeville's credit it wasn't like they were scheduling cupcake Non-District games..
If Pike Central was not in Belfry's district do you think Belfry would have chosen to schedule Pike Central those years as a non-district game?

pike central is being chased by two very large Ugandan receivers/basketball players

With coach Thacker and the three headed monster in the back field that I've heard about (Austin Mullins Seth conn and Dylan Coleman) PC should be fairly descent. Have strong backs and a descent line.
