Cherokee, you don't have to find 64 something red to wear. He has plenty of Mayfield shirts now.

I love sneaking up on folks!! Can't wait to see the doubt erased when these kids show what they can do.. You can't replace the seniors and what they offered this team, but the next crop is coming!! I enjoyed the ride just as much as any, but just set back and watch!! It will be fun!! We are a little questionable in a few key slots but somebody will step up, they always do!!!!!!!!! Go Jackets

That class of seniors was an exceptional bunch though. I know the burg has talent but, even in a big school that kind of talent is hard to replace. Not a slap, I just know talent and that was a lot of talent to lose.

May never see that much talent in one class at Wburg, but there is talent coming and it's more evenly distributed between the upcoming classes...Give them a year or two, next years bunch will suprise some...

Williamsburg did not have talent. They lost to a team last year that wasn't very good at all.

I agree with Mysonis55 this was a special group of kids...Now I just got to pick me a nice 2A team from the east. Leslie County ( my hometown ) LCA ( first cousin is and assistant coach ) Shelby Valley ( maybe my bests choices ) sh#t I forgot about Prestonsburg and #1 Blackcat Fan.

Dont you have a Darlin' to arrest or Barne to look after? Gomer says, "Hey"...
Why are you so down on every team you've posted on?

^ Pretty bad that he is calling Mayfield out..
03-26-2015, 06:44 AM
Im all for people stating an opinion. But he has mentioned he is from NC or something I believe, so its not like he is coming from a perenial HS Football Powerhouse state. Ie: Texas, Ohio, Florida, Cal, or Bama. Id just like to know exactly what he feels that a Mayfield or Williamsburg could or should have done to be considered a good team in his eyes. No one on here is comparing anybody to out of state schools, we are all realistic. But to say that Mayfield or Williamsburg werent good and tallented teams, is crazy. Not trying to stir shi!t, honestly curious. Have to admit, i do Love his screen name though lol

^ Both teams were very good.

He has this inflated opinion of some team named Shelby in NC. MayfieldCardinal has already showed him calpreps results on the 2. It indicated Mayfield the favorite in most years. That just sent him into a frenzy. He has added no knowledge to any thread he has posted on. He has just dogged Ky football every chance he has gotten.

Then let him dog. Alianation is the key to weeding people like that out on these things. Never heard of Shelby...

Funny though: we have all went back and forth with each other countless times. Defending out teams, sometimes other teams, callig eschother out, etc. But it only took one lone Tar-Heeled-Blue Devil to rally the troops to back each other up lol.

I don't know about the rest of North Carolina, Eastern North Carolina, where I currently live, has a lot of high quality football teams and a lot of individual talent. As much as I hate to say it, Eastern NC HS Football is better than KY. Before you guys get upset with me, I watched KY football many years while living in KY.

Jarons, no one should get upset. It's your opinion. I love seeing posters passionate about their teams but some just go overboard being mean and ugly with their negative comments. Your opinion is no different than someone opining that Louisville HS football is year in and year out better than most areas of the state or saying NKY football is better than the rest of the state. Just opinions.

Agreed Esse! In other news, Theres speculation on the Corbin thread that many dont expect Sizemore to stay there if he doesnt get the starting QB nob this year. Wonder if there is any chance he comes back to Wburg if that infact happens?

Usually i agree, but that watered down schedule came within a frogs hair of sending MF on to 2A with a loss in the State Finals. Strength of schedule does help u prepare, but more often than not now days, its about matchups. It took 4 quarters for Mayfield to beat Bechwood, it took 4 quarters for Williamsburg to Beat Raceland (granted that 4th quarter broke our backs at around the 7:50 mark in the game and the game got ugly). Strength of schedule helps prepare for those late post season games, but a "weak" schedule doesnt really mean much either way if you have a good football team, you have a good football team. Rather you win by 50 or win by 2, a win is a win and a loss is a loss. If Williamsburg would have walked through their schedule last year, then got blasted by Hazard or Raceland, then you would have an argument. Now its tiresome and pointless, imo. 55 u know ur football, but can we change the record?

How's it feel to move up to 2A? (Insert mic into face).
Don't you have anything positive to say about the team that took your Cardinals down to the wire last season?

mysonis55 Wrote:Even more watered down this year.
You complained about their watered down schedule last year, but it made no difference they were just as competitive as Mayfield. You talk about a watered down schedule for williamsburg, but they could potentially lose as many as 5-6 games this year. I'm not sure how you consider that watered down. I guess they need to schedule more teams like Webster County....

I agreed with scheduling strength statements before and i will always fill teams who want to be considered "top of their class" year in and year out Regional Titles and Championship Apperances/Victories are statements in themselves. A strong schedule that challenges you prepares you for the post season, eapecially the non-district schedule, the districts are what they are and are rarely competitive year in and year out. So I do agree with 55 in that regaurd, BUT, there are only a handful of 1 and 2A teams that have the numbers to risk in playing a consistent schedule full of 4-6A top 5 teams. So that has to be taken ito accountability as well. I have taken alot of slack for saying that Raceland should have been scheduling the likes of Corbin, Belfrey, Johnson Central, and some of the bigger NKY teams, so he and I are cut from a similar cloth in that regaurd. But to continuously, constantly, bring it up year in and year out, is tiresome.
With Wburg having to regroup after the last senior class's atheletes and big men, I like the schedule. Its likely going to be 2 years before Wburg is back to being even close to what they were the last 2 seasons. The new schedule offers competition to develop growth amongst a team that will be young or inexperienced(in real starting roles) in places. There is also a heck of alot more that goes into scheduling outside of who we can beat and who we cant.
