If they did then god help them. There are some decent coaches over there but they bailed on them years ago. Be interesting to see if one of them comes out of retirement.

Need to hire a good young coach, from a winning program.

No one in their right mind outside of McCreary County would take this job.

That job is always open. Much easier and cheaper to blame the coach instead of investing into the program.

Such a shame. Whatever went down.....

Jamie Payne might apply or I can see Clinton Gay again

Unless they can get rid of the politics surrounding the program it would kill a young coaches career.

I think it is true 0-20 in two years and very low numbers barely enough to field a team

I would bet Clinton Gay or James Payne put in for it

I have watched this program since it started. They need to hire a coach and stick with him, someone needs to make a long term commitment to the program and get the support they need.

I would not be surprised if one of them is going to be the new hc.

What's it got going for it?
Bad pay
Bad support
Bad tradition
Bad socioeconomic conditions
Bad assistants and volunteers
Bad academics
Bad location
You tell me why anyone would go there?

Any word on a possible coach we need an experienced head coach who has had success.

Plus no chance of playing in the playoff's!!!!!
03-25-2015, 03:01 PM
The no playoffs isn't exactly a bad thing. MCC wasn't even making them when they were in district play.
Go ask those in Lawrence County who can remember before their program took off, they dropped out of district play in the late 80's after a terrible run of a few years (if not longer). Next thing you know? They are the winningest program in the 90's for our state. Now, I'm not saying that's going to happen; but, dropping out of district play isn't the bad thing people make it out to be.
Sure, there are plenty of negatives in looking at this job. Plenty.
Here are what I'd view as the positives:
- One horse town
- The location isn't exactly metropolitan, but Somerset is just up the road (literally). Lake Cumberland is practically in your back yard.
- Your schedule is filled with the worst of the worst in our state. So, the playing field is about as level as it gets.
- You have a freshman class of 20 or so, who I've even heard good things from as a solid group of kids.
- A new HC or a former HC looking to make restart their career, what better way than to go to a place who has only won 4 ballgames the last 5 years? Want to look like a hero? Go to a place like that and win 2-3 the first year, at or close to .500 the next & then a game or two over the 3rd year. Don't think people won't notice winning at McCreary Central in any capacity as somebody who can coach? Sure they will.
Lawrence County, Breathitt and Bell County were all places that years ago; long before many on this board were around, that were total train wrecks. If you are going to build a program. If you are going to build a name for yourself, I personally can't think of a better area in the state than in SEKY/EKY to do such. And, I don't mean that as a knock, but just look at those three schools above if nothing else. It's been done.

They get to return to the playoffs when? In 2017?

Some names being thrown around: My take on them. JMO (Hate that Coach Galloway is gone)
Clinton Gay : Would not consider the Job with current
administration in charge. Reason he retired last time.
James Payne : Would not consider Job with current Administration, passed over twice for job.
Justin Bozeman: Would not consider Job with current Administration, They ran him off when he left and went to Whitley County.
People who want to ponder what the McCreary County Administration will do, Good Luck.

I was completely wrong on why Lawrence Co dropped out of district play for a year following the 88 or 89 season.

Everything starts at the Top. If Superintendent wants a Football Program he can make that known to All those that Work for Him. Then All the rest, Principal and AD will fall in line. If they don't Superintendent can remove them and replace them with people that will do what he wants. It's all left up to the One at the Top.

This supt is on his way out, he lets the principal hire the hc and supervise the person, I here the parents are really tiring of her quick and are starting to blame her a lot, AD has some blame too but answers to her ultimately so I would say out of everyone I would look to her the most as the problem.
we need to fix this now.
03-25-2015, 09:45 PM
If Superintendent is on way out. New Superintendent can fix things in a hurry. He can tell Her what he wants and Tell AD what He wants and they will do it or he can make the changes necessary for Football to Grow and be Successful. I just hope for the Parents and Players it all works out for the best.

At this point in time this is not about who's to blame.:Shaking: It's about fixing the problem and damage control. Unless something is done fast this will be 2 out of last 3 years our kids have gone through Spring without a Coach. That means the man in charge for the next year will not be there. That means no wt. program or plyo's.:flush: Therefore our kids will get farther behind because anyone with half a program is at work right now, getting ready for the next year. Hope things work out and soon. Go Raiders.
