Yes

Does the time start when the runer starts, or is there a reaction time you know blow the whistle same time you start the clock then the runer goes.
#39
You want to see true 4.3 speed then go to this website.

http://www.jeremybloom.com/

He also runs a 9.4 seconds in the 100-yard

If the time is done by lasers, it starts when the runner starts. When done by coaches, I've almost always seen that the coach starts the stop watch as soon as he sees the runner move. The longer the reaction time by the coach, the faster the time will seem. But usually that reaction time is made up again when the runner crosses the finish line and they are slow to react again.

they started when your hand comes off the ground the last time I ran my 40

I honestly have never seen anyone in the high school ranks run a 4.3 flat. The closest I have seen was a wideout/db in Ohio who ran a 4.34 (electronically timed), but was essentially too small for big time football and got a scholly in baseball.
#43
thank you
#44
Allen craynon from the burg runs 4.63..soph..
#45
Neon Dion back in the day ran a 4.16 didn't he???
#46
I ran a 4.5 my sophomore year, but I did catch the fastest kid in Ohio from behind against Columbus DeSales when he had a 5 or 10 yard headstart, so who knows, maybe I was faster than 4.5, maybe slower, who knows

Vick seems faster just because he's so quick and can change directions so quick. He is lightning fast, don't get me wrong, but I'm just saying with how quick he is and the way he moves, you'd guess he runs a 3.7

My cousin Ron Blume runs a 4.50 consistently and has run a few 4.47's, 4.48's and such. But, I think that 40's are way over-rated. Everyone bases your speed on the 40-yard dash you run WITHOUT PADS! The main reason people even faster than Blume haven't caught him from behind very often was because he also ran a 4.60 in pads. Coach Matney timed them many times at camp this passed summer. (this can be verified from anyone at JC for anybody that wants to disagree)

But they're are 3 different speeds, TRACK speed, FOOTBALL speed, and GAME speed. THe only one that matters is the GAME speed.

David did run a 4.38 at a Nike camp in Ohio. Jones is very fast. As far as Gross goes he was very good and fast but he was more quick than fast no way did he run a 4.3 or 4.4. Him and Doug Howard were very comparable in their running game. But Jones is a rare occasion on ones that I have seen that has hit the 4.3 mark in high school on an electronic time. Alot of people claiming to has it done by stop watch. And a stop watch simpy cant be percise.

Howard was a lot faster than Gross, too, but Jones is the fastest kid I have seen on the football field.

Gross had slightly above average high school speed, he had excellent vision, and was great at finding creases. Speed demon he was not. To be honest, I'd bet Joe Blackburn & Brandon Peters of Prestonsburg were faster, too.

I thought Gross and Mikeal Fannin speed, for those of you that seen him play.

I just heard that D. Pugh from Paintsville ran a 4.6 on lasers.

He ran a 4.6 but it wasn't on lasers, it was hand timed by 3 different people, though.

Yeah and that was on a rainy surface at Lynn Camp's combine, last weekend he went to Western's senior day and ran a 4.53 I think. I know it was a 4.5 something. He'll be at Eastern this weekend so we'll probably have another time on him.

lincoln adams runs a 4.34 40

DP doesn't stop, you know that as well as I do. I went by the football field a couple of weeks back, he and about 4-5 other players were out there working with parachutes and bungees. That put a smile on my face.

There have been very few actual 4.3's in the 40 in high school. More often than not, these are handtimed and not as accurate. That is why they use laser timing at most major combines. I can think of a few from the 1980's, 1990's, and 2000's, but they are few and far between. More often than not a kid reported as a 4.3 is closer to 4.5. And there is NOTHING wrong with a 4.5. That is still smokin!!!
