Great showing by PCC first half. No reason for PCC to hang their heads, they should be top dog next season. Congrats to KCC great season to PCC.

Perry had a good strategy. Pats forced them away from stall ball and perry could never get back in rythmn

Congrats Knott Central, bring the mountains back home a state title. I also agree Perry Central will be heavy favorites next season in the 14th.

Justice shot 12 FT's in the 4th Quarter alone....Made 11 of those...Had 10 through 3 quarters and 11 in the 4th quarter...Their late in the game every time Knott would throw it in, Perry would foul and it would be Justice who would head to the FT line

Cam moved into 4th place on the all time scoring list with 3,548 pts,, 19 out of 3rd place.. Congrats to Perry for a good game.. Onto Rupp we go..

OK. I'm calling my Hindman/Carrs Fork family tonight. Some in Arkansas, Georgia
and Florida. My Dad is 90. He has been in Memorial gym but never Rupp. Yes sir, Knott
is one capable representative.

Perry played great and until mid-third they were within one possession... but a few empty trips right back-to-back and it was quicksand from there on out.
Knott has had a special group over the past four years, and it was good to see this tournament end with class by the players on both teams. Hugs and handshakes for all of them.

Fatpat would like to give a shout out to Perry for playing a great first half. They did all they could do to stay in the game. However, the wheels fell off the short bus in the 3rd quarter. Perry could not convert and my Pats didn't look back. Powell county showed great hospitality, but man those seats are tough on a fat man. Need some tater sized seating and go chill on your slope. Wowza!
More mash taters please!

The game started to change when Knott went to their half court trap. It got Perry out of their rhythm. Of course Perry played into Knott's favor in the 2nd half. After the 11-6 1st quarter, Knott took the other 3 quarters 47-20.

Perry knew they needed a slow pace to have a chance. The only problem is once you've stalled then have to speed up its hard to get back in rythmn. Good showing and was a much better game then score indicates

Congrats KCC and good luck at Rupp!!!

Disagree as it seemed that was the strategy from PCC. When Hoskins had them hold the ball they attacked when Knott came out to trap and scored a couple easy baskets. King went away from that and let PCC run their offense. Game turned when PCC missed several shots back to back to back and Knott was able to get rebounds and contest shots without fouling (very impressive defense). It snowballed from there. Hall, Cornett, and Justice all played excellent games. Knott is as good a representative of this region as we have sent down there in quite some time hopefully they can bring a title back to the Mountains! Also, not that he needs more praise but every time I see Beverly play for PCC I am more and more impressed. He has major game.

I was actually referring to the 2nd quarter. Knott came out with the trap and forced some turnovers that got them back in the game. Momentum swung and Perry never really regrouped. They tried some things in the 2nd half but only dug their selves a deeper hole. Your right about Perry getting a couple easy in the second half when Knott tried to trap. Really no need for Knott to trap in the second half, Perry was playing pretty good defense on Perry.

Is this the weakest region in the entire state or what?
03-11-2015, 11:17 PM
I think it is sooooo funny that KCC has owned this region for so long now that a regional championship thread between them and PCC has only 25 posts! Come on man, they didn't cheat, buy refs, or anything this year? I guess with a margin of victory of over 20 in a regional tournament doesn't leave a lot to be said by anyone other than a Knott Fan. So I will say that this is without doubt a top 5-10 team in the history of the 14th(if not the best). Also Cam is the best player ever to play in the 14th, the stats don't lie. Most points, most championships, and very soon the only Mr. basketball!!I wish someone that knows would give us a list of all his career stats, awards, and ACCOMPLISHMENTS! would be unbelievable I'm sure.

I wouldn't imagine since Knott beat the best in every region they played. Also the 16th couldn't put an all-star team together and beat Knott.

PCC had a good game plan. They were going to take the best possible shot only and execute on the offensive end. I feel that when KCC got a two possession lead it forced PCC to try to just man up and play them straight up and Knott has far to many weapons for PCC to play them that way. For Perry to win they had to keep the score in the 30's and their defense isn't good enough to have that happen, along with Knott's offensive weapons. Perry came out and slapped Knott in the face early and Knott responded with a massive upper cut that perry couldn't get up from. No fault to PCC sometimes one team is just that much better than you at every position which I feel Knott was.
The only thing I feel perry should have done was gave a few more players the green light other than just Beverly. It seemed that Beverly had the green light to shoot/penetrate/create offense whenever he wanted and the others were told to only shoot if they had a wide open shot from 10' in. Several times Tobbler had the ball completely unguarded at the foul line and never looked at the basket. He had a three step running go at KCC and never looked to attack. He is one H#$% of a slasher/athlete who is very capable of putting the ball on the floor and creating offense. It looked like he was told not to even try to score unless he caught the ball right under the basket. I think he is to good of an athlete to not give him the freedom to penetrate when he is unguarded. Also I was impressed with Turner and the ability of him to knock down open shots, thought he should have had a little more freedom. Perry falls way off also when they go to their bench, not much help at all on offense and a step slow on D. But the bottom line is that Knott is 20+ better team than Perry on every given night and if they play 10 times Knott wins them all. Congrats PATS and stay focused!

I agree a lot of mutual respect between these young men who have played together and against each other ever since they could dribble.
