Williamsburg 70 Clay County 61 (13th Region Final)

Granny Bear Wrote:Perhaps I am wrong, but the bolded parts are very arrogant and pious. You aren't answering the bashers, you are talking about the program and the area. I think it's unfair.

How much talking about Rupp would you and the other CC fans be doing right now had Clay won last night?

AND we can agree about UK. Also about Ryan House. I read a post that he posted on 13th Reg Basketball facebook thread. That kid will have my heart and support from now on!!

Yes, they are, in that one post. I'm not normally an arrogant person. Check my history of post if you don't believe me. You may find a few examples but very small. I just couldnt help myself when people were posting towards Clay County as a whole instead of directly at posters. In particular those of schools other than Williamsburg. This was about the Tigers and Yellowjackets. Not Panthers, Jaguars, Bears (no disrespect Granny), Generals, Cardinals, etc. If Clay County would've won, I would most definitely be talking about how they could beat whoever came out of the 6th region. I don't really post on non-Clay County threads so that could be it. There could be Clay County people bashing on other post. I try to look at sports from a coach, player, etc perspective. When I stopped looking at it as a fan, I slept easier at night. However, last nights post was as a fan and I apologize.

Ryan House is a class act, as simple as that. Most Clay County people were very respectful. That's why I didn't understand the rudeness in certain post. Trey Farmer even shook hands with players after the game. That's the Clay County I know. Not 2-3 posters saying, "We're Rome, we will win every game by 30!"

Heard rumors last night at the Arena that Andrew and Blake...MAY be playing together this summer...Don't have a clue if any truth to this or not, but it would be fun to watch.

Count the house kid and maybe wolfe played a little aau ball with are boys last summer or maybe the summer before they won several tourneys that summer. The Lawson kid from Jackson also played with them imagine that line up WoW

I have to say as a Jacket fan our boys are a true team they all are the best that they can be because of each other and yes Chase is an amazing player.

From what I saw last night Clay Co. players and fans were very respectful. I hated to see the stands start to clear on the Clay County side when the game was for the most part over. Those players played their hearts out last night and should be commended for their efforts. I think the defensiveness on our part comes from a year of saying that our football team and basketball team can't WIN. We have heard every excuse know to man why we can't and that anyone could beat us by double figures because we play a week schedule or we are a small 1A school. I guess we can just keep proving everyone wrong. These boys have heart and determination like no other. They play as a team and have since they were little and that has been proven over and over again.

That's understandable. I never count anyone out. I was rooting for Williamsburg in the state finals for football. We had not played the basketball team so we didn't know what to expect. I saw a very good team that killed Clay County on the glass. Good luck at Rupp.

Now i do think williamsburg had 3 that could play at the next level for basketball but none above the naia or d3 level.

you are absolutely out of your blooming mind......

What part don't you agree with. All of those kids have interest from schools to be best of my knowledge. And when you talk to coaches they all say the same thing. House will end up at Alice Lloyd or union. Wolfe probably the a smaller NAIA school. Farmer it's hard to predict because of his defense. But the family has ins to a lot of schools. And Smith is rated very high by all coaches and rankings. Last time I looked he was as high as 9th of the 2016 guards. And right now is in the top 30 for all guards state wide for all classes. And has been D1 certified by several camps not to mention the Nike All American Camp. I don't just say stuff to say it. This is all factual information. You can hate all you want none of these kids played to there potential in this tournament. Wait a year and see if I'm wrong. Guarantee those kids 4 kids make it to the next level.
buzz Wrote:Randy Watson no disrespect to the clay kids at all but if smith is D1 How is Andrew not the smith kid can play but needs to gain some weight Andrew is built like a D1 kid and is just now figuring out that he is bigger and stronger than anyone that tries to guard him

I'm just going off the rankings of the players state wide and the interest being shown from the colleges. I've not seen Griffth on any of these rankings. And generally #30 is the cut off for D1 offers. No disrespect taken and I didn't mean any. This is the opinions of people who do this for a living not mine.

Smith didn't play no where near what he was capable of in this tournament as did none of clays players but no excuses. The kids measurable are off the charts. And his stats are as good as anyone in the state that is a guard.

I agree about the weight but was told by an assistant that he lost over 20 lbs during the season. They said he played sick for almost 3 weeks. I think he has holes in his game but all high school players do.
Im not knocking on smith at all the kid can flat out play I waited the whole tourney for him to get a breakaway to show his dunking ability he can flat out jump. And I by no means am a college scout but have watched a bunch of basketball and he can play just needs to be stronger to be D1. AAU basketball has its pros and cons but that's where kids get there rankings. But he can play for sure
Smith didn't even play AAU all of last summer. He was at invite only camps. All I'm saying is no kids get offers that aren't on the rankings unless it's NAIA. I just checked again and Sklar is rated 185 in 2015. Andrew wasnt on there although I think he is a top 100 player easy in his class. But my opinion don't matter.

Here are some facts about this group of seniors. Ethan Wilson and Fred Massey have signed to play football at Union. Skyler and Corey have several offers to play football at the next level but haven't made their decision yet. One senior could run Cross Country but hasn't made his decision yet, one has joined the National Guard and will start school in January, one received the highest scholarship that is given at the University of Kentucky and the last one hasn't made a decision on where he will be attending school. IAt a small school our students play multiple sports to make our programs successful so sometimes they have several options on scholorships. I think that is pretty good for a school that plays a so called weak schedule in football and basketball.
Smith wasn't rated as the best player in the region all year for nothing. I don't think any rankings had him lower than 2. And these are once again people who know the game. Not some fans opinion. Just like griffth getting 3 points in the semis you cant base your opinion on a small sample size. Griffith is better than that and Smith is better than his performance as well.
I thought this discussion was about basketball.
This thread was initiated to discuss Williamsburg beating Clay County for the regional basketball championship title. Then it wandered off a little to AAU, track, football, etc.

I think it's all still relevant, don't you?
13th Region is still alive Williamsburg going to Rupp Arena. :please: join the bandwagon it mean alot in RUPP. GO WILLIAMSBURG :Cheerlead
DunkOnMe Wrote:I thought this discussion was about basketball.

This discussion was about basketball and the success of Williamsburg. The reason why we are off subject was that someone decided to state that they didn't think some of our players would have scholarships to play basketball at some levels. My statement was made to show that just because they may not have a scholarship for basketball doesn't mean they don't have one for something else! Now let's continue the discussion about a great game that was played last night!
Congrats to Williamsburg!!! I bet 64 is still celebrating.

Good luck at Rupp young men. What a year for Williamsburg School.

who are these people that know the game that you are talking about......last time i checked college scouts usually don't talk to random people fans in the stands or others about what they see in a player. You usually don't even know their in the building. I'm not saying clay or williamsburg players wont play on the next level....some from w'burg have already signed their letters of intent for the next level. I dont understand where you get these rankings of players unless you reference your local newspaper sports writers or whoever chimes in from the community.

Randy you have only1 and that carries a lot of ifs. any one can see what you are doing, I am from The Burg and know nothing about the external forces of CC but, if CC continues to degrade one kid in open public to promote another, I don't care how many kids return, you will end up like this next year. that kid that you are trying to hurt, is one of the best kids in the state I would say he is the best shooter in the state, and he did play defense just as well as any other player on CCs team. If you know any one else that played any better have the balls to name him.

inside the region rankings where from the coaches. And the coaches can not vote for there own players. The rest are from nationally recognized recruiting agencies such as prep hoops, rivals, scouts focus.

I'm not even gonna respond to this.
I'm done talking with you homers. These people rating the players have nothing to do with anyone. It's just a straight player ranking. And they do not get them wrong . You can cry argue all day because the Williamsburg kids aren't on there. The Griffth kid should play his way on there this summer. Good luck at Rupp.
We in Williamsburg would love to have him. Randy wouldn't it be better for you just ask him to leave than print this garbage where he can read it. You have no guts and no care for kids feelings. I guarantee you it embarrasses the other kid. I met that kids parents they are absolutely good and wonderful parents. You have put them in a sad situation. you represent the 10% of fans that give your community a false impression.
I don't see anyone crying because they are not on the list you are talking about. All I see is statements being made that our players have offers that they are excited about and we are excited for them. There are dozens of different kinds of list as there are in many sports. I'm happy your players are being recognized as good players should be. Just don't say that ours can't play at the next level when you have no idea what they have been offered.
I'm not even a Clay Fan. Just a basketball fan and I've only stated the obvious. Anyone who knows the game sees it.
I'm not a clay county fan. I'm giving my view from a completely unbias perspective.
Anyone can see also that there are a lot of Clay County fans that have been very complementary of our boys and the way we played that game. It was a hard fought game on both ends of the floor and Clay made a great comeback to put them back in it in the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. Everyone has their opinions and can voice them of course. Just know that when you are talking about another teams players when your not sure of all of the offers and facts can ruffle some feathers.
Guarnteed that there are no D1 basketball offers or even D 2.
