Williamsburg 2015

You shouldn't be so defensive:biggrin:

OLDBALLCOACH Wrote:How does a w'burg football thread turn into almost an entire page about whitley and corbin of all things? W'burg will be in the mix though but the line is where they will suffer the most. You can't replace the 4 they had in one year (helton, wilson, lamoree, caddell). You lose an entire line like that (two of which was all state) and the entire defensive front and your work is cut out for you. W'burg will definitely be in the mix but with the new district alignments it will be a tougher road plus you lose the skill players that w'burg had this year and it will be interesting to see where they are come august.

trick question?

of course we want them to play where they live

Scotty_Bronson Wrote:My question in reference to the QB position is this. Do they have anyone that knows the system, has what the usual quarterback needs to have in the spread, AND be an athelete like Sizemore and Griffith both were?

Couple that with losing 5 of their front 7 defensively and 4 of their front 5 offensively and there are alot of crucial holes to fill.

One spot that I havent heard many if any speak of is the WR position. Sizemore had both Griffith, Shelton, and no 21 (his name escapes me). Griffith had no 21, Shelton, and a good release valve in Massey. Each and everyone of them, are now gone. So the new QB wont have the luxury of experienced WR.

Years like the last two that Wburg has had are began when, number one you get the natural tallent and "brotherhood" that the past 2 senior classes have had. The next step is believing and buying into the system. Finally, execution and preperation. In all of that, my opinion is that the most important aspect of that is BELIEVING and PREPERATION.

Which leads me to what I think Wburg's "X" factor is, and I dont see it going anywhere. Thats Coach Herron. He is a great developer of tallent and is obviously a good game planner on the offensive side of the ball. Its because of him and his staff, that I strongly believe that Williamsburg wont be too far behind come late November. The road will be tougher, a district championship more difficult, a regional title even more of a challenge. But While I expect aome winners/losers reversed, i still think its goina be the same kind of batch of teams from the regional finals on. Except for the Raceland region becoming different and 3 of the perenial contenders residing in the same region now.

Good luck to te Jackets in 2015.

At wide receiver Darrell White will be a good one, he had the overtime TD catch in the Mayfield game I think...Hagan Hawn will step in and be a good one also...

Williamsburg will be a very good young team. But I do agree they will have there work cut out for them. The O and D line will have to develop as the season goes along but the linebackers will have to help quite a bit early on. Williamsburg has had solid football teams in the past few year but couldn't get over the LCA hump..

Williamsburg will be Williamsburg a football town.

Probably would never happen.

Look most of this talk is crazy. Williamsburg will be fine going forward, and will be a tough out for anybody next year. This team will have to find their identity next year on offense, but should be pretty good on defense early. As far as kids transfering, I do not believe Williamsburg had one kid who has started on offense or defense for them that transfered from Whitley last year. I route for Whitley in every game because there sucess has nothing to do with Williamsburgs success. Williamsburg fans should be happy just being where we are as a program, and stop comparing or trying to put down other programs.

It's been a month since anyone posted anything on Williamsburg...I talk to coach Herron the other night at the basketball game and he was feeling good about this upcoming season...Williamsburg will be in the hunt in November. :betterthanexpected:

They will be hunting for a win, but they won't find them often.

I'm neutral with Williamsburg. I've actually went to watch 10+ Williamsburg games the past 4 years. But, in my opinion they are going to struggle some this year. That's not me trolling just my opinion. I've said the same about Corbin during their down years.

Looked for another good year from Williamsburg defense... Come district time Williamsburg will be ready to make another run. :howdy: hazard

Williamsburg defense wont be like 2014. That was a good defense but like I said a passing team could beat them. Husky, Hughlett and Shackleford will have there hands full. Yes come Novemember they will be ready for a run but I expect a short run.

Which kids at Williamsburg are from Whitley?
#89
IMO Williamsburg blew there chance. Not saying they will be a bad team, especially since class a has been, and will continue to be weak, but I don't see them having the success for awhile that they had the last couple years. I look for them to make a lot of 3rd round exits, and be ranked top ten, but not top 5 very often.
#90
I see a few 2nd round exits and a few 3rd round and a maybe ever so often a break through to the state title game again.
