Raceland 2015
RAM-A-DEVIL Wrote:Nope. Will have to wait until after x-mas break. Don't want to mention any names. 90%sure not a 100. Don't want to say anything premature.

Is it the same rumor I heard that Raceland legend/celebrity Slammin Sammy Scaff was going to be teaching the players how to box?
Scaff went to Russell

The Raceland/Greenup County area has had some pretty good boxers come out of it. Sammy Scaff, Jeremy Bates, Shawn Spenda, and my personal favorite, Cecil "Instant" Coffee. Lol.

In all seriousness, I would like to see us develop a wrestling program. Many of the best tackling and traditionally hard nosed football programs have wrestling teams. We are always pretty solid in that regaurd, so I could only immagine what we could be capable of with a solid wrestling program for off season workouts.

I would say more of a MMA workout would be best suited. At least with MMA the team could work on their grappling and holding. :biglmao: "thank you thank you....I'll be here all week. Lol

Careful D.W....u will set the bar to high before the RCB even kicks off! Got to admit, i laughed at an audible volume at that statement. Just keep in mind, it was your all's head coach that instilled so many of the fundamentals in these kids at Raceland lmao
LolI know. I just like stirring the pot from time to time.
Stir away. Any way a Red Devil can "JUICE" up a conversation, Im all in! Lol lookin foward to the RCB all ready!
Bahaha I see what ya did there. Lol
Figured ud appreciate that.
The new year has arrived. Time to get back at it Rams!!
RAM-A-DEVIL Wrote:Big suprise coming in Ram land after the X-Mas break. Merry x-Mas

Well, what's the big surprise?
Idk exactly how much if a suprise it can be. There arent any new kids that have come in, unless they enrolled over the break. I have direct contact with a Soph football player on a daily basis (my nephew). Im guessing its a few basketball/baseball kids deciding to come out and play football their Junior/Sr years.
Just got word that a few former jr high players. as well as a few of the Basketball players are intending on playing. Several really good atheletes. Some will be first time football players, alot of time between now and spring ball, so we will justhave to wait and see what transpires. I do strongly feel that coupled with the freshman class, that if these kids actually do play football next year, we may be even better.
Just a bump. Things are back to business as usual in Ramland. Team strength and conditioning workouts, from what I hear, numbers are very high for the winter lifting program. Several underclassmen have already began to show signs of growth since their season ended back in November. Still alot of work to do to get to where we want to be next year, must continue to get faster as a team.
Whats the big surprise we were promised
The "big suprise" was a bit played up, imo. While it could potentially be a MAJOR boost to the team, there is honestly so much time between now and then, I will have to see it happen to believe it. I spoke with a coach and a couple players and the word is that Tyler Morris, Noah Braden, and a couple of other of the basketball players were coming out for football next year. Tyler could be a great asset, game speed will be the biggest issue, not remembering or learning the playbook. If kids like Braden and a few others come out it could really help out in the secondary and at WR.
Who played it up? It was a suprise to me.
The playbook won't be a problem. Speed of the game could be an issue. Personally I don't know why he's coming out now. The year before or last year I could see but why now? My expectations aren't very high. Damon is another year away. Maybe they are hoping for Tyler to just manage the game. That will be fine until 3rd round of playoffs or state semifinal. QB will have to step up to the forefront. And as Scotty Bronson said.....I'll believe it when I see it. Heard he was suppose to start working with Grizzle soon. Hopefully footwork stuff. Can't be throwing football 40 times on a Sunday and trying to pitch on a Monday.
I worry about his arm, shoulder, and elbow. He has a future in baseball, imo. Im all for him getting the knod and wish him all the best, Ive watched him grow up, his dad was my baseball coach and we won his brother (phenominal base ball player) and I were apart of a AABC State Championship team together. I dont want any comments I make to be taken as a put down on Tyler. It just came as a suprise to me that his dad would be in favor of it. I wish him all the best in whatever choice he makes. Either way, the Rams will be fine. If we have a passig game that can keep teams honest, we will be a VERY tough football team.
The RAMS will be fine come August with whoever they decide to put under center. The coaches will figure it out; they always do.
This is Raceland's year to win East. They are clear favorites.
^^^lol
Whats so funny Crappy?

You need to crawl back under the blanky with Flint Deadwood and finish your winter hybernation!!
I'm not sure about being favored to win the east, but the favorite for the region should be between Paintsville and Raceland. Fairview will show improvement this year, but not enough to catch up to the Tigers and Rams.
What all does Raceland return again.? I keep forgetting?
Scotty_Bronson Wrote:The Rams will lose a great secondary, a 3 year starter at center, their QB, their top 2 WR and their punter. They return all but 1 starter on the OL, 1,000 yd and 10 TDs from Kane Snyder and 700 yds and 10 TDs from Carson Christian. Schedule will be decent adding Sheldon Clark, Russell, and Valley (OH). Thoughts?

Here ya go Bac. In addition Tyler Morris is said to be coming out for his senior season. Bout 6'2" 180/190 lbs, great arm and accurate, but has been out of football since his Frosh year. Great athelete though. Very promising Frosh class comes in, but will probably be a year away from really contributing. Nick Caldwell is another (but shorter and stronger), "Conner Messer-esk" skill guy, who can play multiple positions on both sides of the ball. Isaac Wallace (6'1" 280), Caden Townsed (6" 240?), Jerome Hall (5'10" 230) will anchor a very quick, smart, and fairly experienced line with all of them having 1-3 years of significant varsity minutes or starts. There is also talk of a few basketball, track, and new football faces (not transfers but kids from within the school system). If we solidify the QB/WR/DB wholesxleft from graduation we could very well make it to BG. Im confident in playing for a regional title, beyond that, there is alot of time between now and then. Our run game should be pretty good and we will return our entire defensive front 7. Things look promising and the sky seems to be the limit if the kids work the way they have the last few years.
Defense sounds like the strong point for the Rams in 2015. I think you should have an excellent running game returning and it wouldn't surprise me to see you more run oreinted than pass or even balanced.
Raceland is one of the most consistent programs in KY. When you think about the job Coach Salmmons did filling big shoes you have to be pretty excited about the future there.
