And I can't believe you would advise young athletes to quit playing or to demand a new coach, no responsible ADULT would do that. So, this leads me to believe you are a student, which explains a lot. You only get 4 years of high school to play sports, quitting isn't proving any point to anyone. The coach still gets his paycheck, and you get nothing. Yeah, showed him didn't you!

Hometown son comes back to Louisa; York hired as Head Boys Basketball Coach...

Travis YorkTravis YorkLawrence County High School welcomes back one of its own, hiring Travis York as head coach of the boys basketball team. He replaces coach Josh Cook who left after last season for a job in Mercer Co, Kentucky.


York, who was officially hired June 9, will also be teaching in the Social Studies Department, though the exact position was yet to be determined, as of Friday, June 20, when he was interviewed by Lazer staff.

York graduated from LCHS in 1999, and attended Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, where he earned a Bachelors Degree in History and a Masters in Educational Leadership and Administration.

After graduating from college, York worked at New Miami High School in New Miami, Ohio, where he served as Assistant JV coach for four years. He then worked for three years as Assistant Basketball Coach for Miami University Hamilton in Hamilton, Ohio, and later became Head Coach.

York said he is anxious to get started with practice and basketball camp. He thanked LCHS Assistant Coach, Paul Preece for keeping the program in top shape in between coaches.

"I'm so happy to be moving back home permanently," York said. "I look forward to being in the community with family and friends, and want to help any way I can."

Travis York is the son of Jerry York of Louisa and Denise Burton Rodgers of Texas. He is married to April York, and has two children Laynie, 7 and Bryson, 4.

My bad. I am not around much in the summers due to my job and travels. I was going by the contract dates which was July 1st. Guess that is just a basic contract for coaching for all coaches.


Now, after the first 16 games of Josh Cook's tenure, he was 9-7. And he was 11-7 in year #2 about this same time. Why can't you expect the same type of struggles from York's first year? It's a better schedule. He's had key illnesses and leading scorer going on a self-imposed hiatus. Why so quick to judge him? Why not see what happens at the end of the year. If you don't like his style, fine. But he's done nothing to cause the animosity that you and your buddy on here to give him after less than 20 games.

That would be awesome if true. But, unfortunately, it's not. Lot of travel out of state in the summers. No time for sports except on TV. I don't see mediocrity in all sports. I see competitiveness in them. That's a good thing, right? Anyways, this has gone on long enough. Judging a coach after 17 games is ridiculous.

When you didn't go to college, you get stuck with whatever job you can find that pays a decent wage. Unfortunately, mine requires travel 6 months out of the year. Usually spring to fall. At least I get winters off, mostly. Why can't we just agree that we want LC to achieve. Why so much blame and animosity towards people?
