How many wins does a school like Bell County have in the last 20 years? and dont tell me its because they've had superior talent to border counties like Harlan or Whitley.they've had a good program and good coaching at all levels preparing them.

Bell Co. has gotten some d#$% good players from the city school there and that is a FACT!!!!

The talent level is very equal in southeastern ky, but the key is taking your kids and developing them into better players!! Lifting weight, plyo, speed drills and coaching them up!!

Agreed Middlesboro and Pineville hurt Bell more than they help compared to Harlan Co who has no other schools in the County for players to go to. If you play football in Harlan Co you go to be a Black Bear...in Bell co all three schools are competitive in there own right and have good athletes and kids go where there parents played it's a tradition thing for all 3 schools. If Bell Pineville and Middlesboro where combined like Harlan Co people would hate Bell Co even more ......

On the tread note I hate to hear this Coach Larkey was a real man a leader a good Christian and someone kids could look up to and all of this on top of being a fantastic coach he will be missed

Just my opinion, a rural county doesn't just let 30+ years of experience and 200+ wins get out the door on a whim, yet alone hold it open for them. No principal, whether new, ignorant, apathetic or all of the above would want to deal with the repercussions of this. I had 2 questions when I first heard of this - What are they trying to cover up? What did he or his staff do to push over the first domino? No way it's just one 2 win season. I've been wrong before.

It's yours. I was going to hire 64 for special teams but even he is to special for special teams if you know what I mean.

Demarcus is right. Never taking the foot off the gas. I don't expect to beat premier programs like Whitley but Perry is always on the schedule so we cant do any worse if we also schedule mccreary.

Change is coming. Demarcus already has them in the weight room.

Back to the topic. It was Sad the way this was handled. I am going to say they have someone already promised the job. Very similar to the M'boro situation. The way his departure was handled will scare off any established coaches. If they will do it to him they will do it to anybody.



As far as facilities go HC has a great field but everything else SUX when it comes to football. The weightroom and locker room situation is 1 of the worst I have ever seen.

I am amazed that this has happened. Look at what happened to Rockcastle after Coach Larkey left. It has taken several years for Rockcastle to recover and they are just now getting back to being competitive. I look for Harlan Co. to struggle for a couple of years, but they will be back.

To the Principal at Harlan Co. YOU ARE A FOOL!!! It is hard to find good coaches let alone GREAT COACHES!

I don't usually post but I had to at least say something about this situation. Harlan County is in for some very lean years in football! Wish the principal would admit her mistake and rehire Coach Larkey. (If I were him she'd have to beg me to come back and I still wouldn't after the way she handled this!)

We may never have the program that we have had in the years we've had Coach Larkey!! Who can replace him? I hate this for the players and the community. Coach Larkey brought us all together! I am disgusted with the administration for letting this happen to such a great man!!

Harlan County's loss is going to be a great gain for some other fortunate football program. Coach Larkey's football knowledge is irreplaceable.

The defensive coach is also a tremendous loss for the players of Harlan County as well.

Such a sad situation for a great coach and the Harlan County Community!!!

That Burkhart woman that's principal up there used to be at Black Mountain and she left that place in shambles. I don't know if she is fully responsible or not. She just might be paying back the favor that got her in to this position.

If I was Larkey I would leave this place today and never look back. No respect from the school admin at all.

We just might go the way of Middlesboro and Bell Co since it looks like mountain politics is back in force.

I remember Coach Larkey @ Rockcastle and that Dude knows what He is doing. Hard to believe or imagine Him getting fired just like that.
