Was just told this by an Eastern KY coach, can anybody confirm this?
01-20-2015, 10:05 PM
Very Doubtful information!

I'm not sure what has happened but I understand that Coach Larkey will not be coaching the Black Bears next year.
More as I can confirm it. Stories are flying all over the danged place.

If true, Harlan County lost a Great Coach and a better Man.

Absolutely terrible if Harlan County forced out Tom Larkey. Im going to say it would have to be a case of another spineless administration giving in to a bunch of know nothing parents if that's the case. They will be hard pressed in terms of finding some coach better than Larkey.

Im sure he is more than happy that his wish finally happened. KARMA will come back to him in one way or another.
if its true we lost a great coach and a coach who put discipline first ahead of letting kids get by with nonsense and bad attitudes. A coach who was there for the kids and put them first no matter how many parents thought their kid was the star.
I guess politics played into this more than some realize.
Its a sad day when people want to get rid of a hall of fame coach because of personal feelings and even sadded when the ones in charge let it happen.
rome wasnt build in a day, but sure fell fast and has never been the same since.
im just hoping we dont try to get certain family members hired

Today is black Tuesday if your HS Football coach in KY, that makes 4 coaches today and rumors of more getting the ax.

First I think I will wait to find out the reason. Right now just rumors but lets find out why first. As much as I wanted it I cant imagine its cause of a bad season or two. Just have to wait.

I just don't see Coach Larkey doing anything to be relieved of his coaching position. Would be interesting to see what comes out.

Well Demarcuse, you got your wish. I just hope you and this administration has a plan to fill this coaching vacancy. AND I don't mean your fun little staff like GUT, you know the one person on here that wants Harlan County football to fail more than anyone because of jealousy.

The Principal says she wants change.
Sad day in Harlan County. He deserves better than this.

But with the way things are done in HC im sure it will be worse. I know who I would hire but its not up to me. From what im hearing the D coach also got axed so they must have a plan already. its not my fault folks I could just see the writing on the wall. Cant be emotional in this business.

Unbelievable....:Sad04:

To be honest, I figured he'd retire after putting in five years at Harlan County. That was his plan the summer before he left Rockcastle County...five more years. I know this because the man said it to me himself on the football field practice field at a youth football camp. Coach Saylor at Rockcastle was on about the same retirement schedule and actually DID retire five years later. Good luck to the man. He's done some pretty great things with his football kids.

Wow....Larkey was a great football coach and a great man. Don't see them getting anyone as good as Larkey. Kinda stunned right now.
01-21-2015, 12:16 AM
Going to be hard on whoever we get, following Coach Larkey.
01-21-2015, 12:49 AM
Harlan County will be hard pressed to find a coach and person like Coach Tom Larkey. After all he did for that program, if he's stepping down for any reason that is not his decision, shame on the administration. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

GUT, PjDoug, Skully03, get your coaching shoes on. We're up

Just think if Clay County had waited one more week, maybe we could have tried for a great football coach for a change.
