Watch on TV, great game...

Nice win for PCC, but would have liked to have seen a battle between the former Clay County Tigers, Robert Marcum and Shannon Hoskins.

Wow I figure this would be a higher scoring game tonight. Buckhorn is for real. :worthy: Congratulations Perry County Central on win.

Is Allan Hatcher doing coaching clinics in the 14th region? LOL

Worst reffed game in the wymt tourney! They allowed these teams to absolutely kill each other. No wonder the score was so low, it was hard to score with people hitting you when you are trying to shoot. Both teams played very rough, and it was not a good game to watch.

Braxton Beverly with 20 points and Conner Hoskins with 19 points and 18 rebounds. Hard fought battle between both teams.

unless you are A PCC fan.

Rebounding won this game. Outside of Hoskins, hardly anyone from Buckhorn could grab one. Meanwhile, it seemed like the kids from Perry crashed the boards hard every time and came up with most of them. Good game, anxious to see this matchup again in district play.
Also, this one was closer than what the final score indicates, lead only got that big due to fouling at the end. Was a one or two possession game the whole way. A poster yesterday mentioned this resembling Hazard/Perry of the past and I tend to agree. This game is always a good one.

Buckhorn held their own against Perry but the refs let them play.I don't know if they swallowed the whistles or not but it was a free for all at the rim.Brexton got hammered several times going to the rim.One of the most physical games I have watched in a long time.Close game throughout and both teams battled every possession.Perry was one and out throughout the game and they did finally start crashing the boards late.Dores came through at the line.Good luck and win another Wymt championship.:Cheerlead

I thought both semifinal games were very physical.

Mans game in the paint the way it should be.

I agree both semi finals where played very physical. I don't have a problem with it as long as it's called consistent.

I have always liked john noble and think he does a good job but why does he let his team play so dirty against perry central. Buckhorn players must have hit Beverly in the nuts 10 times during the game with no call from the officials. For a team to get one or two intentional fouls a game and the coach keeps letting it go on then he has to be telling them to do it

Cooper punched him in the gut on one jump shot Beverly took on the baseline. They showed a good replay on line of it.
01-11-2015, 08:14 AM
I seen 5 or 6 times myself where Beverly would take a jump shot and they wouldn't go for any kind of block they would just run over and hit him between the legs. That's why at the end he finally got mad because he got hit when he took the shot and then twice more on his way to the free throw line. I talked to him after the game and he said he got hit in the balls at least 10 times during the game. If the refs see that that should get kicked out of the game. That's just dirty.

Tells you right there that Buckhorn will do ANYTHING to win. Perry better adopt the same philosophy when they play them again. Leslie will do Perry the same way. Get used to it.
01-11-2015, 09:16 PM
Buckhorn played very rough but so did perry. They mugged each other inside. Beverly didn't get mistreated in my opinion. He shot more free throws than Buckhorns whole team did. I felt it was just a very rough game.
01-11-2015, 10:35 PM
You didn't see the replay of cooper punching him in the gut then. He never made an attempt at the ball because Beverly was already into his shooting motion. It was a very blatant cheap shot.
01-11-2015, 11:20 PM
I did not see that, I know you didn't see Whitmore and Blair dig their fingernails in Hoskins' back, I'm not defending punching somebody in the gut that is wrong but everyone took licks in this game.
01-12-2015, 02:21 AM
I don't mind rough play at all but when a team has 2 or 3 different players hitting and punching another one in the balls 9 or 10 times a game then that's how they're being coached. Getting hit there is a lot different than rough play. When I got home wymt had showed a replay of cooper I think making no attempt at the ball and punching Beverly below the belt. The refs should have ejected him.

No blood on the floor. No players carried off. During the short shorts era, defenders
would pull the hair off the shooter's thighs. Unexpected weak "strikes" to the
shooter's open vulnerable areas is an old ploy. It takes the shooter out of his mental
rhythm which leads to future missed shots. Carr Creek boys used to leap for a rebound
by first standing on the opponent's foot. Looks like the mountains are growing up
again. Hoskins will have his boys ready and the refs informed next time. Noble is a
good coach, nothing wrong with gettin' in an opponent's head. Referees were just
inexperienced and will also be ready next time.

It was a great game, a lot of roughness but you gotta be in it win it. Perry is always doing all the pushing, looks like Buckhorn just gave them a little of their own medicine and it was hard to swallow. I don't see how someone could get punched in the nuts 9 or 10 times and still continue to run up and down the court. I think coach Hoskins is still trying to hang with the big dogs, it's a lot different sitting on the side lines and someone else making all the plays. Noble has coached a long time and letting his players intentionally hurt another player is very unlikely. I think it's just hard for everyone to grasp that buckhorn is a threat. Especially to:flush: Perry County Central.
01-13-2015, 10:22 AM
His team has had 3 intentional fouls against perry central and there should have been a fourth and he don't take those players out of the game or punish them in any way. When I was playing the coach would at least take us out of the game and jump on us. Pushing and playing rough is totally different then cheap shots and and hitting below the belt. I've never seen a coach allow that if he wasn't behind it

So "cheap shots" are bad but letting players from Philly live with the head coach is ok?

I just heard about this a the WYMT tournament, I can't imagine this is legal unless Shannon is his legal guardian.

He lived with one of the assistance coaches last year.

Isn't that some of the same things Rhodes and Cordia got in trouble for? I don't know what makes PCC any different. They should have to play by the same rules, I think. Doesn't say much for the school coach. If you have to drive across the country trying to recruit players and then house them.
