North Laurel 75 Madison Southern 71
#1
final. broughton with 44
#2
How many shot attempts did Broughton have?
#3
Wow, almost 60% of the total score!!

Congratulations Jaguars!!

Broughton is a big time player, all the tools and work ethic to play at next level. Anyone who can put up 39 and 47 at around 50% is pretty good, and as a sophomore. From looks of stats , his FT shooting has improved , which makes a big difference when you go to the line as much as I'd say he does and will. Did not watch last nights game, but Impressed with what the Rice kid and little Sizemore player can be as time goes on. Future seems to look bright for North Laurel.

With Broughton lighting it up, North certainly looks poised to make a run at the 13th region crown. Has anyone heard win or if Collier will be eligible to play for North?
#6
Controversial call at the end gave this game to NL. The NL kid completely stepped out of bounds and there was a no call. Southern's coach asked if that was out of bounds and got T'd up. I was sitting right there and saw it all happen. That ref needs his whistle thrown away. Southern got screwed there with the game tied.

box score had broughton with 47.

This win doesn't impress me one bit. Madison southern is not very good. South beat them last week by double figures. I was also told by a North fan that the refs took it from Southern. And I agree the 47 is nice but North is a one show pony. And I would still like to see his shot attempts. Getting 25 points on 20 attempts is not very good. Ask any college coach in America if you are not averaging between 1.5 - 1.75 points per shot attempt then you are not a productive player.
#9
Questionable call but shouldn't have been in that position in the first place.

When your other big men can't get in double figures & you struggle getting the ball up the floor. Every play is built around one player, you are not a good team. Sorry but going to have to revamp this team to be effective against a good team. NL has a lot of work to do to be competitive & a good team!

For any unhappy big guys the grass is so green in CC:1:

You Clay Co. Folks have tried all spring and summer to get both of our big men. Even offer Rice's mom a job. If this is denied, it can be proven! Just saying the truth!
#13
What's crazy is you guys ran off what would be the best player on your team by not letting him play. Ryan House can flat out play. I look forward to more unhappy campers making their way down the Hal Rogers parkway.
#14
Win with Laurel kids, that's says a lot for CC!
#15
If u all ant smart enough to play them we will
#16
Ain't in spelled ain't not ant! Smart enough to know that!
#17
U is spelled you also. Sorry to offend you proper folks.

If his whistle gets thrown away, how's he going to ref any more games?

It's just not right for someone to recruit a player like that who you've had in your school district for years and years...

What about going and getting a kid that has been to Four schools in Four years.

That was sarcasm on my part. My point is you can't complain when you did the same thing.

What's crazy is to say House would have been the best player on this team. He might have been the second best--and we could have used him, because our parts don't really fit right on this team right now--but to say he would have been better than Broughton is delusional. I can't believe how much he had improved his overall game over last year, and no Truth99 he is putting up his numbers without shooting Kobe Bryant shot totals. I agree this wasn't an impressive win, Southern is not too good, but it was impressive the way Broughton put us on his back and pulled out a game we had no business winning. Now we're not beating Clay Friday night, no chance at this stage of the season with the way we're playing overall, and they are the regions best right now. Their pieces mesh so much better than ours do. Maybe we will get there, maybe we won't

Like I said before if you are not averaging at least 1.5 points per attempt then you are not producing at a high level and your shots should be limited. And I know for a fact last year he was no where near this number and probably isn't this year. I'm not saying the kid can't play and doesn't have talent because he does. IMO he's the 4 or 5 best player in this region. But alot of kids can get 30 a night when they have the green light anytime. If Broughton truly wants to win then he needs to get more of his teammates involved and spread the wealth. The talent is their but a great player makes everyone else around him look good and he's just not there yet.
#26
And I will say this , I agree with what BrokenArrow is saying about house. Because right now you don't have a guard that can get the ball up the floor. He would do this And he is a knock down 3 point shooter. Not to mention a heck of a defender. He's not as talented as broughton but he's a better all around player right now.
#27
Have you seen Broughton play this year? Apparently not, believe me he is not the same kid he was the first two years. You lose credibility saying the House kid is a better all around player. Do you really think he could carry Clay on his back if their were no other reliable options? North's bigs are so inconsistent, Broughton doesn't have a choice right now but to take games over. Clay is a better team, a much better team right now. But Broughton will be playing long after House's career is over.
#28
Let me add this, not trying to be a hater here. If you want to argue Blake Smith, then that's fine, I think he is a superb player, really don't understand why we don't hear more about colleges after him. His height may hurt him a little as far as the next level goes, but the way he plays defense on top of his offensive game, I have to believe he could play at least at an OVC or Western KY level.
#29
Broughton is super talented, without question. Has anybody heard when/if the Collier kid will be eligible to play?
#30
Good game to watch.
