Pulaski County 14 Graves County 7 - 5A State Championship

EKUAlum05 Wrote:I watched PC three times and I am not seeing it at all like you are.

Against Madison Southern they were sluggish and lacked execution.

Against Southwestern the second time they were essentially an equal team to Southwestern and benefited from Edwards being injured.

Against Graves today they beat a one horse team tha lacked team speed. Pulaski in the 1st Quarter looked good... the next Three Quarters looked like the team I saw in the past two games.

Corbin should have beat Central leading 26-0... but to outscored 33-7 on your home field isn't a fluke It is hard to argue your the better team when you get outscored that bad to end the game. We saw today Central's passing game was pretty pedestrian against a good defense... for Corbin to get so lit up by Central's passing game lends itself that maybe the Corbin loss to PC spoke more about Corbin's soft pass defense more than Pulaski's domination on offense.

Truth be told Belfry, Pulaski, and JC didn't have a dominant offense among the lot of them. All three had flaws in their offense.

But this is beside the point of this thread...we can debate this in much more detail and pjdoug can use many more smilies after this weekend is over in a separate thread. ight now this is about Pulaski's historic win and nothing should detract from that!

I know one thing...Pulaski is going to be even better next year with Hall, Johnson, and the rest back!
typing these big long paragraphs of lame arrogant BS don't make you a genius.next year schedule Trinity and Male so you can have some competition:lame::ChairHit::dontthink

I'd put KY in the 28-35 range of states.

Probably tied for the weakest of the SEC States though w/ Missouri.

Hence why we cant compete with the SEC and need to move to the lousy big 10 and schedule teams like Notre Dame every year so we can get some wins.

Who cares who could beat who and what happened in the regular season. Pulaski and Belfry are both State Champions in their respective classes! Congrats to both! Didn't get to watch Belfry play but I know both teams are really good or they wouldn't be celebrating tonight!
#39
From a Somerset fan, congrats to Pulaski on the first state championship in our county's history.

West Virginia, probably. Class for Class, I'd take Virginia in a close one. Those teams near the D.C. metro area are legit monsters. We're talking Trinity caliber teams. West Virginia doesn't have that.

I don't really consider the D.C. suburbs part of Virginia. I know its in the state, but those people have no connection to the state of Virginia.

I think KY football as a whole is better than several states close to proximity. Id take us over Indiana, Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas, and Missouri all day.
#43
Congrats to my friend Coach Johnny Hines and the rest of the PC Family. Great win, game was not as close as the final 14-7 score.

What about Wyoming and Idaho?

There is no comparison between Kentucky and Indiana high school football. Kentucky football has very little parity in any of its classes, with a few teams dominating each class. Trinity, in its best seasons, would compete for 6A titles against the big Indy teams, but it would not be a dominant team like they are in Kentucky. There are too many very large schools for any one of them to dominate year after year. Cathedral has dominated Indiana 5A the past few seasons, but the school moves to 5A next season and they will have a tough time winning titles against the larger 6A schools.

Kentuckians tend to judge Indiana football based on the teams near the border that play Kentucky schools frequently, but the big schools in the metro Indianapolis area rarely play Kentucky schools, and that is where the best football in the state is played.
#46
I disagree I say Kentucky actually is around 23-27 overall in the country. Imo.
Virginia is actually really good at football in eastern side. Now West Virginia is garbage. None of their state champions would even come close to beating ours.
#47
PJ, you are ridiculous. If Ky football is so terrible take your whiney butt and go somewhere the football is better. I happen to know its not. When little 1a Mayfield every year pretty much takes it to a Tn perineal power of 3a. When little 1a Franfort travels to Fla and gives there bigger, 1a school a good game. When Raceland goes out of state and plays teams and gives them fits. If you are such an expert on cupcakes, go eat one and shut up.

Congrats to Pulaski! I think most saw this coming at the end of last year. You hit a few bumps on the way with injuries, but you got the trophy!

I felt like this game would be a war and it was. I was really surprised that PC seemed to quit the passing game that was working so well even before halftime.
#50
The torrential rain probably had something to do with Pulaski stop throwing the ball. It was pouring.
#51
All this talk that who was better than who really doesn't matter! All that matters is who is bringing home the hardware!! Belfry and Pulaski County are doing that!!!!

Congrats to both!!!

Congratulations on the state finals win, PC.

Lincoln County: 0 - 2
Rockcastle County: 0 - 2
Somerset: 0 - 5
Pulaski County: 1 - 1

It's high time somebody from around here did it.

Absolutely thrilled for the Maroon faithful who came in large and stood in the downpour. I was hoping we would capitalize off of the Mason Helton interception, hanging 21 points would have really kept momentum our way. I was impressed with the defense like I have been all year. They fly to the ball. The Crider kid was legit, and he proved he's a playmaker. Our D in the fourth quarter was a steel curtain. Congrats to Graves for the season, and congrats to the Maroons on the FIRST EVER FOOTBALL TITLE IN THE TOWN OF SOMERSET. It could not go to a more deserving group of young men and coaches!

Awwwwwww PC! And Awwwwwwwwwwww NEXT YEAR!

RunItUpTheGut Wrote:I said it since last December. Pulaski would be the best team in EKY and it holds true.

Just a great team that came together. 2 of 3 titles today coming back to this side of the state.

First, Congrats to PC on taking home the gold!

Having said that, I'm confused. Most of the schools in Lexington and Northern Kentucky are farther east than Pulaski. It's really no big deal, but where is the line?
#57
EKUAlum05 Wrote:Not really... they were healthy and barely survived Southwestern when Southwestern was without their best offensive player Edwards.

Belfry seal clubbed Southwestern.

Not sure Pulaski would score on Belfry's defense.

I will say the gap isn't wide...but from what I saw:
1. Johnson Central
2. Belfry (Healthy)
3. Pulaski County
4. Southwestern
5. Corbin

With Williamsburg yet to be evaluated.

Thanks for the respect. One day maybe we will get to play in Bowling Green, without Highlands to ruin everything.

No team anywhere in the state improved this year as much as did Graves Co. That being said, congrats to Pulaski.

Didn't the somerset team from early 80's win state back when Fletcher played?? 81 I think it was.
