Congratulations Big Red!! Once again, the boys from Pond Creek create special memories.....memories we won't soon forget!

While we didn't play our best.....certainly not our worst. Not much more can be said about the defensive effort the Pirates displayed today. Total team effort....

One of the best defensive efforts I've seen in quite some time....considering the atmosphere and the moment at hand.

Offensively....a little conservative.....but no ones going to complain Smile

Austin Hatfield is the best fullback in the state....regardless of class.

Quick question....will the trophy split time between Pikeville and Belfrys trophy case?

It is perfectly natural for someone from Whitley County not to have any clue how a trophy case works.

Good to hear the girls are picking up the slack in Whitley.

Getting your knowledge second hand from Belfry really doesn't mean you know all about titles.:biglmao:

All I can say is WOW what a game. That was awesome. Now, Congrats to the pirates but gotta say that QB from Central will have Horton in his dreams for the next year. Horton is a flat out man child. Also what can you say about Hatfield, just a beast. Good job pirates enjoy.

Congratulations to the Pirates from Hazard! Always one of the classiest programs around.

Always have, always will. No shame in that. I wish a few of them would play football. We need help on the line next year.

Seems like a fair trade to me. Put asterisk on both of them and call it a day. Ill send Jetpilot over to pick it up.
You might lose it though. If Wburg wins tomorrow they'll be demanding all 6 trophies Confusednicker:

Williamsburg and Pikevillle would both easily be top 5 in 3A Confusednicker:

I think Raceland would be as well

After seeing todays results, im incline to think the entire 1A east including Jenkins and Lynn Camp are in the 3A top 10

Just got home from watching another classic battle between Belfry and Central. Been a long time coming for this win. Austin Hatfield was a beast as normal, but as said the line play was awesome. Ray Hortan was a beast on defense. This victory is bitter sweet though. As the final horn blowed this time it was the Central players laying on the field in defeat and my heart went out to them, for we as Pirates knew the feeling all to well. If there was ever a program that had earned my respect it was Central. Class from top to bottom IMO. Thanks for the great battles that have been shared between our programs and from this Pirate fan I wish you young men nothing but the best. A bigger thank you to the Pirates for another great year of football.

3A is definitely about to change.

The west will be stacked with Central, Lex Cath, Boyle, SW, and the East will have traditional mountain powers in Belfry, Corbin, Bell, and hopefully Breathitt if they ever get back to playing football.

South Warren is moving to 4A

We are up to a challenge, no doubt. Perhaps we've had an easy road, but I think with the exception of 2010 we've held our own in the finals. That dominating D from today returns 7 starters including Rayquan Horton so we think we will still have a good shot. Gonna be a blast playing Corbin and Bell though. Grew up hearing about those teams.

Awesome game Pirates!!! Not only did you represent your team, families and community but you represented this entire area of the state and I will speak for everyone in saying congrats!!! we couldn't be more proud of you and you certainly earned the title of CHAMPION this year. TongueirateSho

No, I'm not trying to make an excuse. This Central team just didn't look anywhere near like this should be a championship game. They could not get out of their own way. I think they probably had more penalty yards than offensive yards. I think they ran the first 3 plays and had 3 penalties. Then by the time they cleaned that up, they had already given Belfry something they have never had when playing Central, confidence. Once a team has that, it's hard to steal it back. I think the Central bunch is young but, 3a gets tougher next year as well.

For those that don't remember pre 2003 Belfry football it is still a little odd for me to see us looked at as a state power, whether deservedly so or not. The many many early exits from the playoffs the road trips to Clay, Leslie, and Bell the disappointment as a kid during those long car rides home seemingly every year. For those growing up during this era please enjoy this and don't take it for granted because it hasn't always been this way. But congrats to the 2014 Pirates, you have made all who have worn the red and white proud and best of luck seniors in whatever the next chapter is.
