Same old story for Johnson central. Beat your cupcakes all through the year and an early exit from the playoffs. Then brag about that good won loss record during the regular season.

Wasn't your typical JC team... not really the big play backs you are accustomed to seeing... JC had a solid defense.

With that said..future looks bright for JC...very young team and a nice wave of talent coming up the next 3-4 years.

Seem to me you a SW man / or "want to be man". I am not sure but i believe Belfry won 28-7 at your place this year. If JC's schedule is so weak why not have SW to come and get some. JC handed Belfry their hat with a 35 -0 pounding. What does that make SW schedule look like. It is a good thing JC is not in 5 A.

Who you want JC to play. Give me some teams name?

Same old BS with on answers or though in the post. Keep trolling alone.

That's why EKUAlum05 is cool.....

His team lost to JC, but still has enough respect to be honest.

How many KHSAA team (not just football) athletic championships has your school won?

Hated to see the Eagles lose, but everybody better get in their shots now because this years freshman class is loaded. Good luck next year

There was nothing wrong with the way JC's defense played Friday, but the offense was completely bottled up. Is it time to consider opening up the offense and going to more of a spread ?

I really don't believe the NKY teams have better talent across consistently (except HHS), so that makes me think it has to do with their style/set. It just seems the Eagles bump into a ceiling with Matney's offensive system when it comes this time of year.

Rebuilding in high school? Rebuilding is for the pros what happen jc lose to many players in free agency. Basically what your saying your jv team last year didn't prepare the players for this year. Not sure what your are getting at a lot of young players? Players with not much experience or what?

Basically, what you are saying that Lawrence County is as good as it will ever be.

Confusedhh:
Johnson Central, a team that lost its entire starting backfield from a year ago, used the same offense against Ashland to score 42 points. That high-powered Highlands offense sputtered against the Tomcats and scored only 30 points and did not put the game away until late in the 4th quarter.

There is nothing wrong with the Golden Eagles' offense that experience will not fix.
Experience will fix it . . . and a realignment. Well, mainly the realignment. JC has some good players, great community support, and an effective coach. JC has to do more than just run the ball 85% of the time to win consistently outside of the mountains. JC would have a great coach if he could adapt and do what it takes to get to the next level.

How many teams outside of the mountains have won consistently against Highlands? Johnson Central's record against Covington Catholic now stands at 3-4 since 2006 - a year in which they last won the state title. How many teams not named Highlands have a better record against Covington Catholic during that same period?

Trying to duplicate Highlands' offense has not worked out very well for other northern Kentucky teams, yet people from NKY are sure that Johnson Central would have better success if they followed the herd.
dawg fan Wrote:Rebuilding in high school? Not sure what your are getting at a lot of young players? Players with not much experience or what?

Yes, primarily what it was. Replaced an entire backfield, half the defense and offensive line from last season. 10 defensive starters (4 juniors, 5 sophs and a freshman) and 7 offensive starters(3 juniors, 4 sophs) that started the game this past Friday will return next season along with several of their first subs. CovCath is a good team, got to give credit where it is due. JC outgained them offensively by almost 100 yards, a few untimely penalties negated several big plays that pushed them back from deep in CC territory and out of scoring range. Best of luck to both Region 4 teams remaining.
Hoot Gibson Wrote:Basically, what you are saying that Lawrence County is as good as it will ever be.

Just looking at jc roster they have about 21 or 22 jr and sr, lc lost their entire backfield last year too, that's just part of high school and college football sure the sophmores and jr should be better next year. But every team graduates players, have some not play or move out of district that is why the middle school programs and jv are so important. Its not rebuilding its just high school. That is why I say lc has a good team but belfry has a great program, lc youth leauge and middle school program is basically just the kids in louisa, no sports at blain, none at fallsburg we need to get kids playing throughout the co. When I lived in johnson co every one of the grade schools had football teams, wr, oil springs, flat gap all of them.

I think it will depend on how many players return next year for Lawrence county if the will be better or worse. I think there will be several jr's that may not play next year. Chafins is getting some college looks in basketball, richardson may focus on basketball, keesee has been the short stop for lc since the 8th grade he may focus on baseball
It all comes down to a Good Season from JC. Nothing to be ashamed of those Northern Ky(Cincinnati) teams are always tough. Get back to work JC and come out and win it all next year!
I'll tell you what I'm looking forward to, I can't wait to see the JC schedule for 2015. Surely, as good as they were in 2014 they will add some more out of country teams to their schedule.

Flashbhack:

Belfry 28 Southwestern 7
Johnson Central 35 Belfry 0

Johnson Central's schedule could be stronger, but including Southwestern on the schedule this season would have weakened it. If Belfry had been healthier, they would have given JC a better game, but a JC-Southwestern game would probably have been just another running clock for the Golden Eagles.

It all comes down to getting your team playoff ready. Play teams like Suckyville West Virginia isn't getting it done. Sources say they had a chance to play a couple of good 5A teams but refused. Regular season record is what's most impo:zzz::zzz::zzz:rtant at JC.

First, this coming from a man who's team went 1-9 last year I can see why you think Regular Season records not important.
Second, SK is a good team and had a very good coach but SK is in the position they are in due to the injury of Pulaski County QB.
Third, you need to check your "sources" they wrong. Who are these "good teams in 5A" name them for me?
Last, so you think getting your but kick by Belfry got you ready for the play off? But when we played them it did not get JC ready?
Shows your intelligence or lack thereof when you make remarks like "Suckyville West Virginia " we played no team from WV.
Schedule for JC in 2014
Fariland OH was coming off an 8-4 season with a 2000 Yard passing QB coming back and most of the teams other players. However, the coach left after the contract was signed and took a job at NC St.
Mastery Charter School North, PA coming off a 10-2 season where the beat Martin Lutheran King 20-13 then latter in the season Martin Lutheran King gets beat by Archbishop Woods 52-8. Yes a good pending but Archbishop Woods was 74 in the country.
Perry County Central I will give you JC expected them to be down. However, no one knew they were going to lose their coach and be that down. In the past they had been a solid 5A team.
JC signed the contract to play Harlan County after the 2012 when they were coming off a state semifinals and an 11-3 record. Does this not fit the description of a good 5A team at the time?
Belfry who is the defending 3A state champions and has beaten SK the past 2 years at your place, I would think meet the test of a quality team.
However, I will give you that Lutheran East, OH did nothing but give JC a game to play. This game was added late due to after team canceling. Once the team reported for sure they had canceled the game which was about week 3 of the season. JC called and talked to or left a message to call JC back to North Oldham 9-2, Ironton OH, NCC, and just about any other team in the state that had week 6 open with only 9 games.
Before you make your next dumb post just think if JC had signed a contract to play SK after the 2013 1-9 record everyone would have just accused JC of padding our schedule with bad teams.

So are we calling the Eastern Ky teams, West Virginia teams now? Last time I checked, I thought they were all from KY.

Didn't mean my post to be argumentative, Hoot, but cherry-picking comparisons like you did hardly disprove the point I was making. And inexperience is not an excuse at season's end...

Everything in Matney's offense must come from success in running the football (like Belfry). That is a problem when the better 4A teams have the size and speed to stop it (unlike in 3A where very few teams can match size/speed with Belfry).

With the quality and quantity of athletes Central has, the Eagles can run about any system it wants. IMO a spread offense would make them much harder to prepare to play.

7-5 Fairview (Class 1A)

Looks like a power schedule to me. Some nice advice would be to grow up OR shut up.

I would like to start this response by saying I pull for JC when they play the NKY schools, and want them to win as much as any JC fan.

However it is never good to compare there regular season schedule against anyone's. 10 regular season win against.......

1-10 Perry County Central
2-9 Harlan County
2-9 Boyd County
4-7 Greenup County
2-8 Rowan County
6-5 Ashland Blazer
10-2 Belfry
4-5 Lutheran East
2-8 Fairland
6-5 Mastery Charter North
