Was given a depth chart before the game and all JCs starters played except number 13 the big TE and he was dressed and I believe was out there some. Any objective fan knows the talent Belfry had in street clothes. JC dominated Belfry's offensive line no doubt. However this JC team is a shell of last years. I think a lot of that is due to being young just like Belfry. JC will have to play better in week 2 of the playoffs or padd's remarks won't be that far off base.

Wish both teams nothing but luck. They are two standard bearer programs in Eastern Kentucky with great coaches.

Lynch47 Wrote:Wow, that was a pretty classless remark. You were probably the guy on their sideline last night yelling at the players to "Tee off" on the JC QB when he was out of bounds or screaming "Watch the onside kick" when JC was up 35-0. Since you got your rears handed to you last night, minus your 4 defensive players, against a JC team that sat several starters as well, what does that say about how well Belfry would fair in 4A against the teams they play? The JC D was lights out and I'm highly curious on how many yards Belfry had in the game. The last update that I was given was that the official stats had the Pirates with 53 yards of offense in the first half.
And here is the ONE for JC. You just made their whole fan base look bad because you can't win with class. Yes belfry got beat. So what, most of us we're predicting it. Congratulations and I hope you can make it past Cov Cath and then Highlands.

Lynch47 Wrote:I'll down play it. QB started but got hurt. X played, Keaton played, Hatfield played. Yeah the TE didn't play nor did Ray Ray, but the rest of the O was in according to numerous posts in the prediction thread on this site and on BGPricks. I agree, both offenses did not impress but when you run the same scheme and see it every day in practice, you have probably repped defensively for this game 20,000 plays before last night. That is why I say even with a few backups in on D, it isn't like Belfry didn't know what they were facing. JC just executed their plan much better and rolled their recent record to winning 5 of the last 6 against the Pirates.
Legitimate question Lynch...is JC good enough to get past CC or Highlands?

Legitimate answer: NO
But neither of us could, before you all pound me into the ground. May beat Cov. Cath. but don't stand a chance against Highlands.

Just curious of how you are deriving that conclusion. Have you seen CC play?
Hey, just thought of something...Where is EKU this week?

JC is the better team , IF we were completely healthy we could have been more competitive but JC would have won in the end. We have two losses to two very good teams, there is no shame in that fact.
I hope JC and Pikeville brings home a state championship this year. Hopefully Belfry will heal and be back in the fight come next week.
Congrats to JC on a great year. 10-0

quick to forget 2013? Highlands smashed CC. CC then smashed JC in the 2nd round. Not trying to start anything just don't look pass them.
I hope jc and belfry wins state alongside with Pikeville and pburg. 5A in the mountains is hopeless though *sigh*

Nope, I just asked if he had actually seen them to make that comment or if it was speculation...I don't know anything about CC this year, and that is why I asked the question.

Neither X nor Corbett made it out of the 1st quarter, maybe 2nd I dont remember. Regardless They spent more time on the bench than in the game. Bentley and Horton cover 4 spots, both TE's and DT's thats 4 more postiions we were without. So in X you are missing a starting CB and HB. Corbett at QB/FS. Playing Keaton at QB takes him out of the HB rotation. Catron out as Starting SS and HB. Woolum out as starting WR, backup CB and FS. Pound your chest all you want I could care less what anybody in Johnson Co thinks of me facts are facts, use whatever twist you want to put on this game to make yourself feel better going into the playoffs. And no they are not the same scheme just because 2 teams run the ball does not mean they block the same.

Seen Highlands but not Cov Cath, and I said "May beat Cov Cath" I'm in no way trying to start a war here, just clarifying some facts with the one fan who doesnt know how to take a win and move on, you have a very good football team and I wish you all nothing but the best and love Matney as a coach and the culture he has created down there.

Congrats to JC on the win. When Belfry gets everybody back and healthy, they're going to be a force to reckon with in 3-A.

The capitalized no was mainly referring to Highlands. You will be at home so at least you have that going for you.

I think JC can shut down the run in those upcoming games. I'll take our chances with the defensive front we have this year up against any running game. If we can lock down the run and force the NKY teams to go one dimensional to the air, we'll need to apply pressure and hopefully force some bad throws, create some turnovers. We have quality athletes in the defensive backfield who can make plays on the ball and this D-line has been special. I think we can stay on the field with CC. As for Highlands...cross that bridge when we get there.

IMO Belfry is undersized this year. IMO this is the smallest Belfry team in recent history. #20 for Belfry played with a lot of effort but looked to be 140lbs or so and way too small to play defensive line against a team like JC. Lots of BGR readers seem to think that last years JC team is better than this years JC team anybody who thinks that is WRONG! This years JC team has much more team speed and has a way better passing game on offense.

I dont see Central forcing Covington Catholic or Highlands to do anything but I hope I'm wrong

Has JC gone up against any good passing teams this year? Can they go toe to toe with Cov Cath? That is the question many are not sure of. If they can not win against Cov Cath handily, they have little to no chance against HHS. Cov Cath is not good this year. HHS fans are very interested in how JC does against Cov Cath to use it as a measuring stick, since you can not use JC's schedule to tell how good they are. Got to love the playoffs!

So I take it, most like it will be Harrison County, which is a blowout, Cov Cath, which should be a blowout, and then Highlands at home.
Cart-Horse...
The blueboys aren't going to roll over against JC. A lot of folks took a similar perspective last year and look what happened!

I would guess that Perry County Central was one of the best passing teams they faced this year.

I am sure you still feel that LC would beat JC and Pikeville & Raceland are the best two teams in the area. .

The played dead against Highlands.
What makes you think they'll do any better at JC? Or are they just scared of Highlands?
