RICHMOND, Ky. â The Eastern Kentucky University football team hits the road for one final OVC game this Saturday when the No 16 Colonels take on Tennessee State. Kick-off at LP Field is set for 3 p.m.
The game can be seen for FREE on ESPN3.
Eastern (7-1, 4-1 OVC) is already 4-1 in road contests and will be aiming for a fifth road victory for the first time since 1990. To accomplish that feat, the Colonels must find a way to score points on a very stingy Tennessee State (4-5, 1-4) defense. The Tigers lead the league in scoring defense (17.6 ppg) and have only allowed 16 touchdowns in nine games.
Meanwhile, the Colonel offense has scored at least 30 points in six straight games. The number of the week is 1,000. Junior RB #Dy'Shawn Mobley# is closing in on 1,000 rushing yards (922), senior QB #Jared McClain# is approaching 1,000 career rushing yards (942) and sophomore WR #Devin Borders# is on the precipice of 1,000 career receiving yards (934).
On defense, keep an eye on senior DB #Brandon Stanley#. The safety is tied for the league lead with four interceptions. Stanley has notched an interception in three of the last four games and has averaged 12 tackles per game over the last three contests.
EKU has lost its last two trips to Nashville, including a heart-breaking, last-second 23-20 loss to the Tigers in 2012. Overall, the Colonels lead the series, 21-5, and holds a 4-3 edge in games decided by seven points or less.
